  • Mark reviews Mr and Mrs Smith. Not one of the better reviews. But the star Wars email at the end is funny.

@tornhill1 Changeling was three years after this movie. But fair enough, he did also praise her in Girl, Interrupted.

When reviewing Chanling he praises her very much, he has definately changed his tune since A Mighty Heart. But he hates the action films like this or Wanted.
Similarly, Kermode has famously hated Kenneth Branagh for ages until he since Frankenstein and is now a large fan. Also this is true of Emma Thompson (who he now claims to be his favourite actress)
So it's fair to say that his opinion can be changed if you do something of actual worth.

It doesn't surprise me that Mark Kermode takes a damn good picture. He'd make sure it was properly framed and in focus

I really enjoy this film when it pops up on telly. The thing that makes it is that they're just such average-looking Joes and Janes that they're very believable as secret operatives.

Simon Kinberg whom he mentions wrote the RDJ and Jude Law version of Sherlock Holmes. Or some of it, anyway.

@mtisit Yeah but Mark Kermode "don't bend that way". He did just happen to be interviewing her for a very good performance - proving wrong everything he'd previously thought about her. But other than that, he did bring up 'Tomb Raider', this film, and a bunch of other not so flattering moves in her career. He ain't no coward.

@ec123456789able he also said that she deserved the oscar for Changeling, and her role in a Mighty Heart was even better. And he gave rave reviews to her performances before this one.

I think he changed his mind about her after A Mighty Heart.

the reason Angelina is famous and overrated is because of brad pitt, its because he left jen for angelina, brad pitt was so famous that he even helped jennifer aniston reach that big star status by dating her and then marrying her, the only reason the two actresses have the fame that they have now is because of brad and if brad had never married neither then they would still be famous but not as much as they are now

@ec123456789able This was before 'A Mighty Heart'. In fact since then he's developed a huge amount of respect for her. He behaves and speaks a in a very honest manner so all it ever takes is you showing your worth for him to take back everything he said about you, right there on the air ... and in his blogs. Guy Ritchie and Keira Knightly are two examples.

I dont get what's so amazing about jolie either.
I'v never been keen on her acting.
The only thing she does do really well are porn scenes! she could make a good porno movie if she wanted too
The amounts of over the top sex scenes she's had in 99% of her movies she could be right up there with sharon stone!

I hate this film, if it was any other stars in the lead roles It wudnt b as big as it is. People only like this film cus they remember it being the film where Brad left Jen for Jolie simple.

I disagree about Angelina Jolie. Gia, Girl Interrupted and The Changeling are undeniable proof that she can act when given a decent part and a good director. Brad Pitt on the other hand is just NOT a good actor in any way shape or form. Nor has he grown or improved as an actor. Every performance is basically variations of the stoner guy who sleeps on the couch all day that he played in True Romance.

The film’s well acted, stylish, action packed & intriguing, however the film’s poorly written, not funny, unfocused & long. (61%) (3/5 stars) (mixed)

Yes, unfortunately that is the case with many films today. Acting may become a lost art if image continues to take precedence. Hyper reality where the image becomes the reality and erodes any substance, signifier to signifier endlessly looping over and over again.... and all that jazz lol.

It's actually quite a funny, quite entertaining film. I don't get Kermode, he's just a guy who likes films, who happens to get paid thousands of pounds.
