    Treating a catch with respect as a priority are the words that I hold dear to me when fishing for a meal. This also extends to returning the ones we dont eat and I see this in your journey as a fisherman. Cheers to that Starlo.

    I catch nearly as many flathead using weighted minnows as with large soft plastics at Banjo Patterson Reserve (and others) in Abbotsford. But all round a soft plastic will get bream maybe whiting as well. Tailor and Salmon seem to hit both eagerly.

    Having true enjoyment and going home with a feed does not have to be complicated or expensive. You nailed it with one key word. RESPECT. Respect your fish, your gear and yourself. Well done and nicely filmed. Best of all no stupid high 5's and loud music. What is wrong with the simple sound of water and wildlife. Colin

    As a dedicated flats wader and shore based lure flicker I use an easy open carabiner to secure a net capable of landing fish up to metre long, having long nose pliers on a lanyard helps as well. You don't want to swim a flathead 30+ metres off the flat to the shore if you are wading. Excellent footage and content. Cheerio

    One of the very few guys on the internet who makes content about the exact style of fishing that I enjoy so much.
    Im fishing on the Atlantic coast of Portugal most of the time.
    The Bream are pretty though to catch there but it's possible.
    I've never met anyone who targets the with lures apart of myself there, the locals usually just shake their heads when they see me with my super light tackle)

    Hi Steve. There's nothing more relaxing and enjoyable than watching your excellent videos. I have a question about polaroid sunnies if I may.
    In your opinion are all polaroid sunnies the same. I just buy the old Cancer Council ones but is their a real advantage in getting " better" brands. Cheers mate.
    Feel free anyone else reading to chip in with an opinion. Thanks guys.

    • @StarloGetsReel
      @StarloGetsReel  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks for that! Having worn a range of polarising sunnies over half a century before settling on Mako a few years ago I can say that there definitely IS a difference between the cheapies and premium eyewear. I guess it’s an incremental thing, not unlike the difference between, say, a $100 spin reel and a $400 model. Is the latter four times better than the former? No. But is the 10 to 15% advantage in performance offered by the higher-priced model worth the extra spend? I guess that’s going to come down to how much you fish and how serious you are about it. But the bottom line is that I’d feel disadvantaged going back to cheaper eyewear after using the good stuff. Hope that makes sense?

    What anarchy rod is that?
    I have the 7 foot 4-8kg 2piece (cos its blue) paired with a legalis 2500 (cos its blue).
    What size jig head did you upgrade to, in ounce weight pls n ty.
    I usually use 1/6 n 1/8 size. With 12pound leader.
    Do you suggest lighter leader for bream on lures?
    (Ive never bn able to get a bream on a lure... only on bait lol)

    • @StarloGetsReel
      @StarloGetsReel  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That's the 7'8" Anarchy -- the long cast or flats model. Heavier jig head would be about 1/8 ounce. Finer leaders always seem to get more bites from bream, but it's a balancing act as you need to be able to land them, too!

    • @StarloGetsReel
      @StarloGetsReel  ปีที่แล้ว

      Not stupid at all! Lots of anglers suffer tackle shop anxiety. For 5cm plastics, hook sizes in the No. 4 to No. 1 range should suit. A No. 2 will probably be perfect. As for jig head weights, it really depends on the depth you're fishing and the current strength, but something around the 1/8th ounce (3.5 gram) mark would be a good starting point. You can go up or down from there as the conditions dictate... Tight Lines!
