    神がヴァイオリンを弾いているとしか思えません。どうしたらあの様な音が出るのでしょう。他のヴァイオリニストとは何処が違うのですか?聴く度に涙が出て来ます。

    Sayaka plays like Samurai. Quite sharp and accurate. No vagueness. I found lots of attractive something new in this concerto. Those have never be interpretated by other violinists. I love what Sayaka did.

    I think tht Sayaka Shoji is one of the finest solo violinists in the world, and yet she is not very well known in the U.S. I hope this changes soon; I would love to see her live. I have one of her CD's (Tchaikovsky & Mendelssohn concertos), I really wanted to get her Sibelius performance, but apparently she hasn't recorded it.

    What a surprise! Usually,we can see her performance in youtube several years after the concert.
    Last February, my dream came true to hear her Sibelius' violin concerto in live.
    I had a great day. Paavo Jarvi was also so wonderful.
    I can't appreciate enough for this upload.

      Her first youtube version was in 2004, 21 years old. She played it also when she was 15 years old in a concert in Tokyo,very little girl, but played marvelously.She was a challenger in 21 years old version.Christian Gansch said when she was 18 years old,that young musician like her was extremely rare who had the spirit of pioneer to take the risk.Her old version presented Sibelius' violin concerto,I thought,as an elegy.
      It was so fresh and original which moved me. But,it was frequently spoken ill in the japanese internet. I thought I had to defend her.
      In my experience to hear her live, she changes year by year.She said she changed fingering and bowing in each time.Menahem Pressler said she continued to search.He said she was great at that point.Recently,I feel she pursues more of serenity and self-effacement in music.
      It's true new version is less dramatic. I loved to hear old version for long.I have to repeat to hear new version like I did in old one.

    "(Sibelius's) Violin Concerto is a towering masterpiece, its opening transporting us to an otherworldy realm of haunting memory and unnamed drama. The tension is sustained throughout the three joined movements of this astounding composition, where fire always lurks just beneath the icy, Nordic surface."

    • @Chalarge4635
      @Chalarge4635 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      In that LSO version, she used a different Strad which is better one than this and she showed young spirit,but this rendition was way more mature. Unfourtunately,Paavo's baton wasn't good here. I had an experience to listen Detoir/NHK SO with soloist Batiashivili. Young Batiashivili was just clean and okay but Detoir was absolutely great. This is so demanding conerto for violinist, so conductor's ability is important. It's painful to watch some artistic miscoordination between Sayaka and orchestra here.

    Heck, for the longest time I thought Soyoung Yoon's version of Sibelius' violin concerto was the best on TH-cam... at least on technical merits, this one is better. Although, having been introduced to this piece by the Jasha Heifetz recording from 1959, the second and especially the third movement seem painfully slow.

    I don't care if I sound like a stuck record - Ms.Shoji is the most magnificent violinist today. This is a murderous piece to play - raw exposure, northern mysticism, technical difficulty... She shows it all, and conquers it all.

  • @tubularificationed
    @tubularificationed 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Not among the strongest performances of this work.
    Problem is, she is grabbing for cheap maximization of effects, giving it some drive into the direction of kitsch.
    Or let's say "schwulst" for which my online dictionary offers the translations
    - grandiloquence
    - bombast
    - orotundity
    - magniloquence
    I think that this direction poisons the nordic tenderness and delicateness of this piece a little. That's not her strength to understand the piece (or Sibelius' personality) completely or in-depth. Maybe this requires some kind of maturity or thoughtful personality, in this sense a bit of overlap with Sibelius himself, there's no easy bypass to that.
    She takes it just as a juicy showpiece. Many violinists do fall for that temptation though, that seems rather common than the exception, to be fair. Among those violinists, she's among the better ones. The really good ones however, they are the exception unfortunately.
    She's extremely good and appropriate though for genuinely kitschy showpieces such as Dvorak's slavonic dance (here on youtube), that's a reference performance to me, a perfect match.
    I also listened to her Mendelssohn, biased with a gut feeling that she may be good at that as well. And yes she is, I find that more likeable than her Sibelius.

    The performance of both the Sibelius and Brahms concerti have rather slow, careful tempi in the fast movements. I also suspect that her sound may not carry in the very large halls the major US orchestras perform in. That said she's an interesting, often intense violinist, who is a damned fine "long-line" player--e.g. the opening of the Sibelius slow movement.

  • @BjornWilliams
    @BjornWilliams 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    her bow needs a little more tension it would fly on the spiccatto more easily. or maybe it's the recording. i need more space and texture sometimes. i always hear Heifetz so sometimes it feels slow and the vibrato a little wide, especially during octaves chords.
