This concerto is never getting old… what a masterpiece of music.
It's epic and grandiose
Conmovedor
If all orchestras were as good as this we would live in a better world.
🎻🙇♀️”..Amazing!”
We all better get practicing.
True )
Julia Fischer and Hilary Hahn Soooooo wonderfull
I have been waiting for her Sibelius for soooo long
Wunderbar! Bravo Julia! Gänsehaut pur.
Haven't seen Julia Fischer for a long time on any latest video. Good to see her playing one of the most difficult and demanding violin concerto piece. 🎻🎶
Same here. I was wondering if there was some sort of problem. It's good to see her still performing. She is one of the greats of the current generation.
It's so good to see Julia playing again!
Wonderful performance. Orchestral play was also excellent. Bravo!
Indeed, it has been a triumphant return to Frankfurt and the hrSO in particular, we are made to sense the enthusiastic collaboration with the orchestra also by the excellent camera work!
The pacing of 3rd mvt is just perfect
That was terrifying. Julia is incredible and it is amazing to see how she has developed as an artist. I love how her sound has evolved. The intensity she played with really gives me goosebumps. I sense a deep resignation and desperation in her interpretation, making it all the more stunning. The work is already dark and brooding, but she really brings out the terrifying quality of this work like no one I've ever heard, except perhaps Oistrakh. A Gem of a recording with an orchestra that is asserting its place among the best in the world.
My humble opinion is that this is the best interpretation of Sibelius violin consert I ever heard. You may have other opinions, and all of them I respect. This is only my opinion at this moment, and so it is a very fragile thing. But most of all it is my way to express my love for Julia Fischers playing in this Sibelius violin consert. Her playing is like beeing in another place, a place filled with compassion and love.
1,000% agree with you. I’ve heard so many other interpretations but this one is exceptional. Both from the orchestra and Julia.
Thank you so much for making these wonderful concerts available to watch, hr-Sinfonieorchester!
I will be the first one to buy this when released for purchase.
Brava, Ms. Fischer! 👏👏👏
Bravo Julia Fischer! Bravo!
Wonderful performance. Julia Fischer sound is powerful, soft as necessary, full of emotion and very precise. The orchestral play is also excellent. Bravo!
One of the best versions of this concert, along with Augustin Hadelich. It's so difficult to be clean especially in the third movement and it's the case here, with beautiful musicality.
Yes I have now listened to Augustin Hadelich, for the first time in my life. Note, I am 78. Thank you for this proposition, Hadelich plays this wonderful!
Totally agree ❤
absolutely one of the best performances 🎉, also best sound recording and video quality as well.
Superb portrayal of this magnificent concerto! The architectural splendor revealed beautifully!
The slolist, orchestra & conductor in perfect unison! Thanks for the post.

The goddess has arrived… ❤️❤️❤️ Such a good performance! ❤️🎶
I never noticed enough beauty in the second movement until I listened to this recording.
You are so right!
She is arguably the most technically adroit, elegant, and musically thoughtful violinist before the public today. Yet she rarely performs in America. Why is that? The vagaries of the music "business" are always disheartening.
I love her pure and clear tone quality. Wow!
Her sound is so strong and soft. She is my favorite violinist ❤

Not so much "Nordische Aufführung" dear notarbolz! Most of this people seems to be from Germany. It is not a very nordic country! As a swede I have to protest against your words! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Absolutely stunning
Julia! My favourite violinist. Seen her live many times. I saw her play this in London.
Bravo Julia 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏💜💜💜🩵🩵🩵🩵💜💜💜
Absolutely fantastic! Such enthralling storytelling, such great union between Julia, Alain and Frankfurt Radio Symphony! ❤❤❤💐💐💐
Orchestra was just as impressive. Wow!!!
Thanks for uploading! ☺️
BRAVO! Spellbinding performance!!
I have been a fan of Julia Fischer since I was a master’s degree student 12 years ago. I’m so happy that she is playing again, and as always, she remains a genius and brilliant violinist.
Julia!
Paavo Jarvi, Orozco-Estrada y ahora Atinoglou!!!😊😊
Wonderful Julia! ♥️♥️♥️
❤❤❤ Excellence ❤❤❤💞🌹💞🌹💞🌹🤗
Simply wonderful, thank you
This is my new favourite Sibelius recording. Frankfurt RSO you always impress me and I listen to you daily❤
I was so touched, and my emotion was stirred up. Thank you very much💗
Simply amazing!!! ❤
Brillant playing, mesmerizing sound 👏❤👏
Beautiful meastro 👏👏
I love Julias smile in the beginning of the third movement 25:40
Indeed, that smile says a lot. "Here it comes, all you famous guys who got away with your approximate intonation and your sloppy execution and still were hailed as virtuosi for all those years..."
Bravo Bravo Bravo Bravo Bravo !!!
Dziękuję. Wspaniale.
Bravissima!
What a fantastic performance, Bravo Julia !
Julia Fischer is playing this music extremely good, especially in the second movement, Adagio di molto, at 17:07. Together with the orchestras lovely supporting she almost reaches heaven in this movement.
Please also notice the perfect bow handling in this second movement. It is sort of a wonder.
@@LucienMarine Love to you LM, you seem to be a very easily irritated person ❤
@@LucienMarine I thought it was impossible to withdraw anything written on TH-cam? But evidently not! I have already forgotten that word you wrote about me. Let me just say that I highly appreciate Julia Fischer as a violin player and also as a pianist. I listen to her Sibelius almost every day. Ii is one of the best I ever heard. Best wishes!
@@staffanolofsson8201
Sibelius/Fischer is a beautiful duo. We see Julia smiling at the start of the last movement. The pleasure of finally playing again because she experienced « a crossing of the desert » to put it this way. I am very happy to see her again because I missed her during these years. We have a common point: *Sibelius* This one is my absolute master. The last of the giants in the symphonic genre. *LM*
@@LucienMarine Just now Julia Fischer is my absolute favourite in this. I used to listen to Hilary Hahn a lot, she is also phenomenal in her interpretation, but just now it is Julia. Her strenght in this interpretation is just gorgeous. But sorry to say I have no idea about how to make the Adagio a separate link, if it even is necessary? I believe her playing in this consert is just wonderful as a whole.
An excellent version of this Best Violin Consert Ever Written. Julias playing is wonderful, and it is really nice to listen to this music again!
My list of Best Violin Conserts Ever Written: 1. Sibelius 2. Brahms 3. Tchaikowsky 4. Beethoven 5. Schostakovitj 6. Prokofiev. And yes, only my list. Other may have different favourites.
@@staffanolofsson8201 that is the same as my top 3.
My list is added by two B's, the Berg, Alban Berg plus the Britten concerto, by Benjamin Britten, the latter one also played by Julia Fischer which she performed last year in Cologne with the WDR Symphony Orch. @@staffanolofsson8201
Sorry, she performed it in the Stuttgart Liederhalle with SWR Symphony, where she at the end mounted all the stairs up to the Tuba player to hand him her flower bouquet since she had such a great duet with him.
The clarinetists makes me laugh 😂 look like truly enjoying that moment
This is my favorite concert, I have already heard and looked for all the versions or at least almost all of them available to listen to, and one of the criteria that I consider very important for this concert to be perfect is precisely the blandness of the orchestra with the soloist, the concert of Hilary Hahn is a good example of this, the synchrony of sound between the orchestra and the soloist is perfect, and I can feel the same level or even greater between this wonderful orchestra and Julia is perfect, an example of this is 2:55 when the orchestra enters and the strings come in here 3:05 the atmosphere that is created gives you an amazing suspension, and it grows until the orchestra delivers all this feeling into Julia's hands 4:12 KABUM the eyes fill with tears, the skin becomes chills... An excellent version!!! Splendid!!! Congratulations to everyone involved!!👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Yes, Julia Fisher is my new favourite in interpreting this violon consert. Together with Hilary Hahns version. Their interpretations are a little bit different but they both reaches the highest level in understanding Sibelius´ intentions with this music. I like your comment a lot!
I think the correct description of the orchestral entries and passages is that they are "commensurate with the scale and intimacy of the brilliant soloist". Sibelius has written a work for two equal instruments, in effect for violin and symphony orchestra, where the later is used very judiciously and sparingly. Much as in another masterpiece - Alban Berg's Concerto.
Love andrea
@@andreapandypeterpan4062 Why comparing with Alban Berg? This masterpiece stands for its own and has not to be compared to other masters. I like Alban Berg but this is Sibelius.
I would like to hear you compare this to the version with Christian Ferras under Zubin Mehta in Paris, my favorite performance ever of any musician. Watching Ferras is almost as good as listening to him.
This is my comparing if you even want a comparing, I dont think it is necessary, every artist has his/her own way: th-cam.com/video/sVKRTb-Wp5g/w-d-xo.html

Impressive and touching...
With respect to Julia Fischer 's touching performance , Interpretation and musicality, I still go for Hilary Hahn's Performance for this violin concerto. The rather faster metronome of this performance compared to the others, has made it more dynamic and emotional.
one of the clarinets was really enjoying it
Omg the cadenza ❤
Probably the most technically perfect performance of this piece I have ever heard both live and recorded. Ms Fischer was clearly in the zone that particular night.......
Yes! I would say this performance, along with Hilary Hahn ( her recorded version as well as a couple of her performances available here on TH-cam.) All breathtaking.
And it‘s only 40 years ago that the BSO voted against Sabine Meyer to be employed as the second female artist in the orchestra.
That‘s where you see progress in the world.
Anybody who is opposing gendering today should remember that.
The sound of this violin is insane. It transports you to the XVIII century when it was made in 1722, just checked the year.
Guadagnini 1742? Оr I am wrong?
@@user-gt6hm6ou5g, I read it is a Stradivarius from 1722. I found a website dedicated only about her violin. Quite amazing.
Bravo. Greeting from Hiroshima .
Fantastisch
🙏🙏🙏❤❤❤ !!!
Einfach wunderbar!
The Violin Concerto in D minor, Op. 47, by Jean Sibelius stands out in particular for its dark and mineral atmospheres. It is the composer's only concerto, one of his most performed works, and one of the great violin concertos of the 20th century. This piece was not an immediate success among 20th-century European audiences. However, today it is one of the most recorded and considered one of the most difficult in the violin repertoire. A virtuoso piece, a passionate violin recitation, its innovative and lyrical aspect stands out from the first listen. It's a really powerful work, it's also very delicate and beautiful to desired. Sibelius was a violinist who desperately wanted to be a performer, and when that wasn't the case for him, he became a composer. You have to imagine the passion that someone can have for their instrument, they write a work that they would like to play, but it will have its own life. There's a dark undercurrent, but there's also a lightness just waiting to come out and get up. Sibelius is truly creative in many ways in this concerto. In the first movement for example, he adds cadence to the composition, and at that time not everyone did that. So you really hear the solo violin as the composer intended, which is very revealing when you listen to the entire work. *Lucien*
Thank you for this comment! I agree about everything, as a lover of Sibelius music. For me this violin consert, together with his second symphonie are highpoints in his always fascinating work.

Wonderful sound and musicianship from Julia Fischer and the orchestra. BUT: was the cameraman drunk?
