Great video. I just did my water pump today and used your video. Thank you for your contribution and the step by step video. Made doing my water pump a breeze 👍
Great video Mr Sartin - the best video and concise explanation I have ever viewed on You Tube and I am a retired ASI certified mechanic 82 years old. Again many thanks for your expertise.
I don’t comment often on TH-cam, only when I feel someone deserves to hear an atta’ boy. This video is excellent, from your voice narration to explanation and labeling of each section of this intricate repair. I’m about to tackle this myself, I can hear the water pump rattling bad. Did you let the water pump bolt sealant set for a while before starting truck?
Thanks for this video! Looks like a lot more work than I was hoping for. Just had my truck in the dealer for oil change, rotate, and brake fluid flush. They won't do the brake flush because I recently (3 times over a week) had my brake pedal go to the floor and grab at the bottom. They claim flushing the very old air-filled brake fluid (That likely cased my dead pedal issue) may make things worse and they don't want to be on the hook for it failing.... I researched this dead pedal issue, and it may be a vaporized water air pocket stuck in the ABS/Proportioning valve system. I did the "drive down a dirt road and trigger the ABS system dozens of times fix" and after 4 days so far so good..... But I wanted to get that old bad fluid out to be sure. This is VERY frustrating they won't change the fluid! Now the problem will only get worse! They also said my water pump is leaking and needs to be replaced! They want $850 to do this job which includes 2 gallows of coolant but not a coolant flush. Does that seem like a fair price? I was hoping I could do the job myself, but this is too much work for me to do outside on the ground in the dirt in the hot SC summer sun and humidity. There goes my boat fund :( I can't believe my truck let me down like this at 95k miles. It's a clean well kept 2014 1794 edition. I bought it at 53k 3.5 years ago and already it needs this, and my Master Cylinder is seeping also! That's another $900 repair job and none are available due to national backorder! My 1998 4Runner went 200k to 300k with no failures of anything while I owned it. I'm SO pissed at my baby right now :(
Hey I had the pedal issue on a 07 tundra. Most ppl blame it on master cylinder but it’s actually the front double piston calipers. We had done all kinds of things before we figured it out. That’s what my problem was anyways. Good luck.
Thank you for this. I was about to have a breakdown, my new to me tundra just started to overheat and I hope it’s not the heads. So I’m going to try this 1st
Thanks for the video. Only one thing is fyi, you don't have to put a gasket maker on the bols. The gasket maker that was there if from the timing cover when they installed it.
Very nice video! I have a leaky water inlet pipe (technically I guess it's just one of the gaskets/o-rings that goes on the inlet pipe) and water pump. Can I get to that water inlet pipe when I remove the water pump or do I have to go through the process of removing the intake manifold and the heat exchanger?
Yes you can replace the oring on the outlet when Changing the waterpump. The outlet has a o-ring that comes with the waterpump that fits in the groove on waterpump. Then outlet bolts to waterpump
@ I can’t even figure out how to release those two rear clips on the intake manifold!! What a ridiculous design. Two clips are keeping me from progressing right now. Any advice?
Doing mine now on my 2011 crewmax 5.7. Its been leaking for about 6 months and it warmed up for a few days before getting cold for the winter upcoming. Im a Toyota tech but havent done one of these yet. Pumps almost out!
@freedom8gemini2 I don't blame you All the Parts I have listed in Description are the exact original Parts as long as they have not been changed before with aftermarket. Take your time and Good Luck
Only thing I used gasket maker on is the bolt threads. The waterpump that I used comes with a metal type gasket. I wouldn't recommend putting gasket maker on it. The Pump I used is factory replacement part. It is not aftermarket.
@jettyDeke It took me alot longer than it normally would have from taking Video. I think it was most of the day just recording the Video. But I would say not recording Video 2 to 3 hours. Just a rough guess.
PITA!!!! No wonder damn dealers poke you in the behind for labor charge. I could do this job myself, wont be easy, but only be out of pocket for the pump, no labor.
Play by play videos are awesome! Thank you!
Thanks for this video! I am getting ready to replace mine and your detailed steps will make this a breeze!

Thanks for the tutorial. Now I know what I'm in for. I've always owned 80's Chevy's. God do I miss the simplicity.
I know what you mean, but by today’s standards this is simplicity, and there is some room under the hood and actual access.
Thank you for this video. It really helped me out a lot. Keep making them. .
Thanks dear Brother for sharing this video, God Almighty richly bless you, please keep it up

Thanks!!!
Will be getting at it thanks to your video
Dude.. your video is amazing my friend.
Great instructional video. IMO it is easier to remove the radiator to do this job so you can go straight through the front of the radiator support.
Thanks for the video! Just got mine done!

Thanks for the detailed video !!
Thanks for the vid. Imma have to get mine done soon the pump is about out
Great video this is going to help a lot when I go to replace mine thanks
looks like you have a leak in your radiator as well. great video
Did you replace the thermostat? I must have missed it in the video.
I didn't replace thermostat. But link is in Description if you want to replace yours.
It's been almost a year and all is good
Is it suppose to leak threw weep hole?
No it shouldn't be leaking.
When I fails, it will typically leak out the weep hole. But it shouldn’t leak at all when everything is working correctly.
Great video...Well done!
Good video sr 😮

You in Jersey by chance? Looking for a Toyota tech to do mine lol
@CJ-nk1ls
I'm a long ways from Jersey...lol
How many gallons of antifreeze you use?
I'm pretty sure it was 2 gallons
One Gallon of Concentrate mixed to 2 gallons for 50/50 mixture
Awesome video!!!!
Thanks.
Is removing the tensioner necessary?
@coolbrezze2052
You don't have to take it off
Other than for a bit more space to work
I took mine off mainly to replace Idler Pulley on Tensioner.
Good job, thanks for sharing this video, keep it up
How many miles did your water pump last before replacing?
232k you answered my question I believe
Thank you... I know this is gonna take me some time, but I refuse to pay 1500 at the dealership..
@freedom8gemini2
I don't blame you

great video! it really helped me. Thank you!
Great video thanks
Why not remove the radiator for more room?
You can
Looks great. Did you happen to use gasket maker also? Or was the cover/gasket enough?
Only thing I used gasket maker on is the bolt threads. The waterpump that I used comes with a metal type gasket. I wouldn't recommend putting gasket maker on it.

Do you remember your total time on the job?
