  • Conducting transmission fluid change on a Toyota sealed Transmission. This is on my 2006 Toyota Tundra 4x4 Double Cab. I used 6 QTS of Toyota WS purchased from my local dealer, and tools I already had in my garage. My truck was not having shifting problems, however per the manual Toyota recommends conducting 1x drain and fill every 30-60K miles depending on towing frequency. I decided to do 2x drain and fills to start tracking and conducting my own maintenance every 30k miles for a few until I like the color- then will slowly do it, every 50k. If you have questions or comment I will respond as best I can. Hope this helps!

    So you drained the oil, filled it with new red oil, cycled through the different shifts - then changed it AGAIN because it somehow got black again over 3 minutes??

      Yup. In this video i did TWO drain and fills. The whole system holds 11qts. By doing two drain and fills i changed a little over half the fluid (6qts) , and will continue doing one or two drain and fills every 30-60k miles until i am happy with the color. Hope this helps! Thanks for watching

    You wouldn't happen to have the part numbers for the nrew seals, would ya? I can only find the drain seals.

      Drain plug crush washer part number: 35178-30010 , the fill plug has a black O-ring. When I buy WS from the dealership I asked them if they can throw in black O-ring for the fill plug and they did :D, do not recall PN for it. Hope this helps

    hey man. Serious question here. So i have 2006 DC as well. Did a drain and fill this weekend. BUT... Im confused about something. I drained 3-3.5 qts. Added 3.5 back. Got truck up to around 115 deg, pulled the overflow plug and nothing. added two more qts one by one and nothing...................... As soon as i shut the motor off, fluid came pouring out of the overflow. Now, im confused. I have see people say the engine MUDST be running to properly check ATF, but some show the engine not running. I even reached out on the GEN 1 Facebook form and conflicting...................

      hey man page 2315 of the FSM states to check fluid levels while engine is idling. Make sure your truck is level and your a/c should be off. Page 2314-2316 have the entire step by step directions- i would follow that over random dudes on the fb page. The knowledge gap on there is large.
      Idk how your truck was running before you did the job- but some people claim they were low on fluids from previous jobs/factory.
      If i were you i would recheck fluids- i wouldnt go to the top end temp- i prefer median- just allows more leeway for error checking too hot is the same as checking too cold. Get it in the middle of the range and do your check. Now you have a baseline for knowing the jobs done right- by you. And you can monitor your levels - you could have a leak you’re not aware of from other areas.
      Hope this helps man! Thanks for watching! Let me know how it goes! 🤘🏼🤘🏼

      This is a question for the person that made this video, I noticed when you finally reached the temperature to drain the excess fluid to reach the correct amount, when you exited your truck you turned your engine off and removed your keys. Then proceeded to remove the excess fluid, but you mentioned that the vehicle needs to be at a idle when checking fluid level in a comment. Now you got me confused.

      @mikemurray2298 hey man i turned it off then turned it back on after getting to the next step in the FSM- sorry for the confusion! When in doubt- follow the FSM 🫡

      He also said not to touch the check valve until the end and you can see it went from dry to soiled less than halfway through the video…
      I had to watch it so many times to see it was the very end and he said camera died so narrated it. Ughh.

    How can I check it ??????

    • @mikea.5173
      @mikea.5173  หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@TimMoran-m3f if you only want to conduct a check, get it to the recommended factory temperature and use the check plug- with A/C off and engine idling. Or do the whole process in the video and conduct a drain and fill. Hope this helps!
