    Out of all the games I have played in my life, I would have to say that the original Guild Wars series has aged the best. I still can't believe that it was over ten years ago when Guild Wars Prophecies first came out. So beautiful, and Ascalon in Autumn was one of the most beautiful locations in the entire game, with no rival.

      kikkirow Oh yeah, I still do from time to time. Even though GW2 is easier to used in terms of interface, the beauty of GW1 is unrivaled even today. The graphics, for being over ten years old, have held up incredibly well.

    Whenever I'm listening to GW1 soundtrack, the pictures come in my head of all the stunning vistas and beautiful landscapes in the game. It's so nostalgic that I even think of just log in after years... create a new ranger and just take a walk in the beautiful pre-searing Ascalon while the soundtrack gloriously plays in the background...

  • @songbringer8151
    @songbringer8151 6 ปีที่แล้ว +11

    Ah the pre-searing...so many fond memories. 10 years and I still play daily. Guild Wars will forever rule. It has given memories I will never forget...triumph, defeat, a million laughs, many moments standing in my HOM alone reflecting on the past 10 years back to where it all started, many friends along the way I will never forget...those who have moved on, some who sadly have passed on and others I have formed friendships with outside of GW. It's been an incredible journey that will be with me forever.

    The beauty of Jeremy Soule is that he knows exactly what kind of music fits any landscape. You might not be a fan of the less colorful mountain landscape of Skyrim, but I know I do! Hearing the less peaceful yet epic soundtrack of Jeremy Soule certainly has something to do with that. Nothing would fit Skyrim any better.

    I didn't play Guild Wars, but I am fan of Oblivion. Above all, I'm a fan of good music, and Jeremy is a real master in this craft. He creates a beautiful fantasy atmosphere. Clearly here's something of minimalism. The harmonies aren't revolutionary, but I just can't stop listening. It's so beautiful! I think Jeremy's biggest accomplishment was to create a music that can bring back a lot of good memories, whether they are in-game or not.

    This is why I love playing games like GW, and Oblivion because I feel that I have no problems and I can do what I want in a beautiful world.

    Guild Wars was the first MMO I got to experience and I played it alone without any friends. I was about 12 when I picked it up. It was quite an experience, memories I hold dear and I think of them fondly. GW was a great game with fast intense gameplay, amazing music, beautiful landscapes. Maybe I should visit Kryta once more before GW2?

    This is just so... I want those times back, the times when you saw the game from the newb point of view...
    And the times, I spent playing with others there...
    Stupor Snotor, where ever you might be, I wish you good luck with whatever you do. And also to all those Ascalonians, who miss their old friends, you're not all alone.

    @Sponga58 I remember being blown away when finding out that pre-searing is just this tiny piece of the game and that there is so much more out there ... I was amazed by the vastness of the game.
    Then came the realization that I can't go back and made more and more new characters to explore the pre-searing in every possible way ^_^
    Pre-searing is a beautifully done area and it's magical how it can be both life-threatening on one end and simple and calm on the other.

    the string-work, as specially the typical harp-playing of Jeremy Soule's music is so tranquil, it honestly makes me feel like I am entering a new world. His most well done games are Oblivion and Guild Wars in my opinion. Those songs really captured that magical feeling.
