Guys, I am not against Bethel music. But this particular song is not theologically accurate and I hope you’ll gain better skills at discerning these types of songs so you don’t sing them nor introduce them to your congregation if you are a worship leader.
This was a sobering reminder Allen. We just really have to be seeking guidance from God & the Holy spirit when it comes down to us leading worship. Having the privilege to lead worship shouldn't be taken lightly. Thanks for another great video brother!! 🔥
This refers to jericho walls coming down. When we are led by the Holy Spirit in prayer and in biblical truth to speak things out then things will happen as God's word is not void to accomplish things
As stated elsewhere in the comments, this is exactly why worship leaders need to start writing and recording more of their own originals. If you control the content, you control how theologically sound the song is.
@@rjlbabbc Actually, that also comes to my mind when I've read those lyrics. But yeah, I kinda agree with brother Allen here. It's very subtle way of credit-, or more specifically, glory-grabbing. When worship songs shift from Glory to God to glory to me, I think it's about time we reconsider the songs. For me personally, I can easily change those "I" into "You" so as to redeem the lyrics of this song. But maybe that's just me.
It’s funny because I am kind of cautious of Bethel church and Bethel music, but It does say,”I have the authority Jesus has given me” right after saying they can speak miracles. It sounds Jesus centered and not man centered to me.🤷♂️ of course I think people should steer clear and remain cautious of Bethel. They have a lot weirder things to criticize in my opinion. I enjoy listening to your thoughts and appreciate your videos.👍
I've never heard the song but I took the walls come crashing down line as when the Children of Israel shouted and the walls of Jericho came crashing down. When I'm obedient to God, and do what he commands me to do, demons are cast out and the sick are healed and souls are saved. Not because of anything in my power. It's 100% God working through me.
Exactly! I’m seriously surprised 😮 at this Christian TH-camr , Jericho walls came down with a shout , and it’s clearly stated after that line , I have the authority Jesus has given me
His point is the lyrics are removing God from the equation. Like, even if he used his power through us it became our power. This is why Samson was trapped he thought the power was in himself.
Exactly. Roman 6:10 say that same spirit that rose Christ from the dwells inside of us. Greater works shall we do John 14:23 &. Life and death are in the power of the tongue proverbs 18:21
@@brianbauer3148 yes but not in the context of the song. The lyrics clearly stated that the songwriter was acting on the authority given Him by Christ, on the victory given him by Christ Sometimes "oversabi" too much. That's his problem right here
John Wesley said, people will often forget what you preach but they will remember what you sing. That is why the theology of music was so important to him.
John Wesley was full of false theology... perverted the Scripture, redefined words to teach that men are not chosen by God from all eternity based on God's perfections and decretive will, but based on the puny creature's choice. Wesley belongs on a long list of heretics, not a long list of sound biblical theologians or bible teachers or evangelists. He followed Pelagius and Jacob Herman's (Arminius) false theology and built error upon error. George Whitfield wrongly commended him, giving rise to many sound teachers naming Wesley among the great teachers... solidifying the sea of false doctrine we are swimming in today.
Yes,the movement he started that became the Methodists were onto a good idea there. In the 18th century the tired old pretty corrupt Church of England did have a point in their sceptism of Wesley's movement. It very much ran and grew on enthusiasm which sounds great to our modern ears. We who grew up in the post 1945 world have lived in a culture all our lives that promotes enthusiasm as a driving force. Not bad in itself. But of course a "faith" based on your emotions and feelings can thrive when all is well but vanish when hard times strike. Certainly be much harder to sustain, abd (in some lines of thought) if those hard times have struck God doesn't love you and your faith wasn't true. Not my idea but one aspect of thought. Bad things happen to bad people theory. But to return to Wesley et al,they shone a light of hope and love into people's lives that were so grim, they showed a "way out". I live in the area where Wesley preached A LOT . This was a coal mining area back then, the miners lives were poor and grim and they were notorious for burning down toll gates and rioting. The people of the nearby city of Bristol hated and feared the miners of Kingswood. They saw them as feral animals not humans. When Wesley preached it's recorded the miners + their families were so overwhelmed by the sense of God's Love that he conveyed to them that their tears made white channels down their coal dust blackened faces.
Exemplo of shout and wall fall down Joshua 6:20 AMP When the people heard the sound of the trumpet, they raised a great shout and the wall [of Jericho] fell down, so that the sons of Israel went up into the city, every man straight ahead [climbing over the rubble], and they overthrew the city.
I used to play the piano for the children’s choir at my church. A very young child asked me whether the words of a church song had to come from the Bible. I thought about it for a second and said “yes.” That was decades ago, but I never forgot it. If the words of a song don’t align with the Bible, we don’t need to sing it in church. Out of the mouths of babes.
It was such a holy Spirit service I still have it and the song, and cried, having my grand children listen, --- my son works his butt off all the time, gives to everyone himself. Lots of times a Day a husband does not get asked, how you doing. They always have to be strong.
Good answer. God says worship should be 100% pure and the ones leading to be free from sin. Obviously no one is perfect but gods saying the worship leaders really need to be close with god otherwise they will be judged accordingly
I am old enough (octogenarian) to be filled by the Spirit when singing of the old Hymns in the church service. These new songs with reputation of the various lines only with negative thoughts. When did get it decided that it was now a worship service with loud drums ect. Reminds me of a rock concert. I know that many people today are moved by the spirt with this upbeat music and enjoy this feel-good rhythms. The author of the youtube is right about being careful about music lines that do NOT line up with Biblical Theology. You open your self up bad truths thare not Biblically corecct.
Precisely correct. This is one of the reasons Christians are ridiculed by the unbelieving world. Jesus talked about "straining at a gnat, and swallowing a camel". The "religious elite" of Jesus' day actually used their fundamentalist interpretation of Scripture to JUSTIFY crucifying Christ!
Finally. The truth. We do have to be careful and pray for discernment, but I am sure that there were people truly worshipping God. Wonder if he is just pretending to be an angel of light. I have never heard him present a song that has the perfect lyrics.
“Because you have so little faith,” He answered. “For truly I tell you, if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.” (Matthew 17:20)
Yet it is moved because of the power of God. It is by His Hand that the mountain is moved, by His will, not ours. It is not about us but about Him. Edit. What I'm trying to say is that we don't do these things by ourselves, but God does them, but we call for these things to happen by Faith. Yes, with faith nothing is impossible to us but because God is there doing the impossible possible, not us doing so.
@@veronica1070 of course Yes. If we were to do things with our own strength, we would not even be able to breathe. We can't even breathe without His help. We breathe because He allows it. We are, because HE IS!🤍🙌 He answers our prayers not because our faith is great, HE answers our prayers because HE IS GREAT and Generous. Glory to GOD!🤍😇
The "I have the authority Jesus has given me" is still giving God ALL the glory and honor. Without Jesus, without the Holy Spirit indwelling us, we are nothing. As a child of God, we are given that authority, and as a human vessel, I can and do believe God can work through me because I have all faith in HIM!
Amen! This is one of my favorite songs. Dante bowe. People may not like him either. I LOVE HIM. He helped me through some darkest of days when my brother took his life. I sang this songs so many nights in my darkness! It’s saying when you believe in Jesus walls (you’ve built around yourself) come crashing down! That’s half the problem with this world… people over analyze everyone else but forget to analyze themselves….YOU ARE MY CHAMPION GIANTS FALL WHEN YOU STAND UNDEFEATED EVERY BATTLE YOU’VE WON!!!
The Lord used this song when I was in a very dark place to remind me that he gives His children the authority to walk in victory not in defeat. It was a turning point for me and helped me out of depression.
Wait, my brother! Who's "Word", are we suppose to be "confessing here"? Jesus said " these words, are "Spirit", and they are "Life". Also, Jesus said, "I only say what my Father says". As an Ambassador of Christ, you are speaking the "Word" of God, and situations and circumstances change. Mark 11:23-24?
The song is theologically accurate. We are gods and we have the authority to declare and make things happen...we have been given the power of attorney to execute justice here on earth.
People speak about theological accuracy!! But is anybody speaking about spiritual accuracy? I love christ but I hate religion.most people read with there minds and lack revelation.
@@anonymouslissahlily3241 people always mix religion with knowing Christ for yourself..... This is why churches are so messed up till this day they are focused on religion and not the relationship that they should have with God

Answer this. Why did NONE of Paul's 5O0 witnesses report anything at all about a resurrection? Why is it limited to a small inside club of writers? Why was Matthew 27:52 never reported anywhere else in history including the book itself? It should have been the most talked about event in human history
@@SaveAmerica1-pz2xg You research is immensely inconclusive. Please actually research before you attempt to comment on something. Mark 11:23 Truly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and thrown into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says will come to pass, it will be done for him (and other similar scriptures) - as long as we are praying the will of God we shall have whatever we ask.❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Sir you need a deeper revelation. Walls are type of problems in our lives. Mark 11:23 in context when God speaks his word to us we can speak his words and walls or problems in time will remove. That is the context of the song.
I don’t think it’s meant as we have the authority on our own but that we have the authority through Jesus Christ. I am who He says I am. We are to speak with boldness.
As the music minister, I read lyrics to the songs before they even get approved for practice. I let this one pass because even though the Action(opening the mouth) is coming from man, credit to its power is given to Christ in the very next lines ( I have the authority Jesus has given me)
Allen hasnt answered me when i asked him to TAKE A STANCE against what damages Christianity right-now. But no answe yet. No answer why he talks about 'this or that or whatever' and its Atheists who talk and tackle the Issues and basically even shield Christianity. ?! Right now, people advocate for Extremism to poison Religion and some scream for our Time-Determination from what we have now TO 'BEFORE TRUMP AND AFTER TRUMP'. To clarify, i do NOT mean'100 Percent of your Religion is Radicalized!!!!!'. I never said that. I say its a big and rising number, which it is: I even cited a Source. Telltale has many videos about kat Kerr, Greg Locke and those dont even have the Word Trumpism in the Videotitle - such videos are even more direct. Alan Parr does not ever answer me when asking him to take a Stance, so i ask you: please inform yourself a lot and counteract the Radicalization of the Christians. The TH-camr Telltale covers the Problems of Religtion that Christians should be the loudest voice to adress but they just are not.
Thats how I read it. Is sometimes you, have to "encourage yourself" wrong too? I believe that God has given us certain power to speak over ourselves and others with His help. That doesnt make us God, He just gave us some ability to do some things in the land! Period!
That's sad to hear. There should be far more discernment than reading lyrics. You're allowing poisonous teaching into your church by allowing Bethel and Hillsong music to be played.
I heard the house FM play a new song called Alive by Peabod. I definitely had some issues with that as he was singing about how he was falling in love with the world again. I couldn't believe they played it. Jesus repeatedly warns against loving the world.
Walls can be broken when we sing. The walls of depression and anxiety. He has given us the authority to speak miracles. It is not through us but through Jesus who gives us strength and power

Respect but I'm not sure about this one. As a fellow Christian (and fellow TH-camr), I really hope that everything I post below is viewed through the lens of mutual respect. I love your channel and learn a lot from you. If the lyrics had said instead, "I lift up my voice and shout and *_every mountain will be cast into the sea_* . . ." (from Matt 11:23) then I doubt we'd even be talking about these lyrics. The original Bible verse says " *_Whoever says_* to this mountain . . ." We're clearly supposed to say things with our mouths because that's the part that talks. And, mountains, walls? What's the difference? Also, Jesus did say directly, “He who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these *_he will do_* ." (John 14:12). Of course, the walls in the lyrics bring the walls of Jericho to mind, "the people shouted with a great shout, that the wall fell down flat." (Joshua 6:20). God told them to shout and He clearly is always prompting us to pray in our own lives. There are other verses that echo these sentiments. This raises the question, is this an issue of theology or something as basic as faith, then? If our personal theology/doctrine/beliefs don't encourage us to pray for miracles, then we need to make more room for what Jesus told us. Also, the lyrics do clearly identify the source of the power/authority as Jesus (on the very same slide.). The slide @4:54 does not say, our voices can create miracles. It says, " *_When_* I lift my voice . . ." Those are two different statements. Jesus said, "When you pray . . ." more than once. All that said, if the question at the end of the video had asked, "Is this music *_Biblically_* accurate?" I'd say the answer is yes! If there are Bible verses that say we shouldn't pray, lift up our voice, or even shout for miracles, or that the Holy Spirit is retired from the business of miracles, then let's talk about those verses. ;-) I'll give you a real personal example that is an illustration of those lyrics (but, more importantly, the Bible verses that support them). Years ago, I injured my knee in sports. It didn't improve one bit for 2 months and there was constant pain. I was considering surgery. But I hadn't seriously prayed about it yet. I finally had the faith--prompted by God--to pray for healing (and I said those prayers out of my mouth) and received prayer at church from some people who laid hands on my knee. Within 48 hours, my knee was 100% healed. No more crutches. No more brace. God healed me *_when_* I lifted my voice. I didn't get healing until I prayed. In terms of common ground, I agree we should carefully examine the lyrics we sing. I agree that we are not little gods. We are not the source of miracles and we cannot create anything miraculously. We cannot "name it and claim it." But I don't see that slide of lyrics saying any of those things. I'm not even sure the lyrics implied those things. Again, you have my utmost respect. This is just a respectful disagreement. God bless.
When I lift my voice & shout is 1. Referencing the walls of jericho when they shouted & it came down (reminding us of the power & authority we have in Christ) 2. A metaphor saying when we lift up our voices and shout out praises to God, whatever obstacle (wall) or hardship (wall), etc. we’re facing will come down in Jesus’ name. The same thing for “when I open my mouth” that is a metaphor to praying or again, shouting praises to God & worshipping Him-the effect of THAT would be divine intervention, God intervening which is a miracle. That’s all they’re saying. Respectfully, you have to be more patient & wait until you KNOW you’ve received confirmation from the Spirit because you be reaching a lot-this isn’t the first time. I worry you get caught up in trying to release content & also help people which turns into you not taking the time to make sure the Spirit is speaking or taking the time to hear Him all the way/correctly.
This is truth and exactly what I felt in my spirit when hearing the lyrics. I also thought of Jericho for the walls coming down. Remember the Bible also states have the faith of a mustard seed and we too can move mountains by “saying, move from here to there” Matthew 17:20. Therefore, are these words not accurate as long as we know this is only possible in the name of Jesus!
Agreed. I’m feeling a lack of anointing in this particular video. Just hopping on the popular wagon to bash worship songs without proper understanding. As a believer, I have the Holy Spirit to teach me all things too. And I’ve had alarm bells ring for things like “Conversations with God” by eckhart tolle but my alarm bells didn’t ring for Bethel songs. In fact, they’ve always brought me into a deeper place of worshipping Jesus and Abba Daddy. My focus turns to the LORD rather than to my anxieties. This bro might say it is not theological right to him but I also question whether his understanding of theology is really sound.
Yeah the idea that the guy has its right but the song being reffered to it's accurate soo will simply say we should understand the type of words being used
Missed me with this one Pastor Allen. The walls of Jericho came crashing down with the shout and worship of the people. The power of life and death is in the tongue. He's given us the power and authority through Christ to speak and command demons to go..that is a miracle.
in my personal experience, very few people (if any) have the authority in jesus to cast out demons. check out the posts on deliverance and see the comment sections. i've been on my own journey of deliverance since 2019 to no avail. totally open to suggestions!

@@haphazard_traveller I’m sorry. I thought you meant the authority to cast out demons. There’s a passage in Matthew to suggest they may come back even if you do. @@haphazard_travellerthis is not same as Doc healing. Faith plays a massive role here because every single time Jesus did the healing he said,'Your Faith has made you well', 'Your faith is beautiful' , etc. So it's very important to receive it with Faith. Without faith we cannot receive it even if it's given . Also, we often hear docs say 'his body isn't responding well to the medications given to him . ' So, is it docs fault?! No!! In the same way when we have faith, we are recieving healing and are open to miracles with open heart rather than holding on to our past demons.
Jesus said speak and the mountains would move. I trust Jesus 100%. We aren't going to get through these end times without believing Jesus 100%. I can't go one minute without Him.
“When I lift my voice and shout, every wall comes crashing down” Read the story of Jericho when Joshua and the Israelites were going around the walls of Jericho seven times and in the seventh time, the walls came crashing down…..I believe that’s what this refers to….in our life God has given has authority to break walls in our life that enemy has put to prevent us to moving to certain destination…..they follow up the lyrics with (I have authority that Jesus has given me) this is good because they are not claiming to break the walls just with their shout, but the authority that’s Christ has given them…and I truly believe so….
While I don't ascribe to the law of attraction that many in the church do these days, I do generally agree with what you wrote here. I also thought of the imagery of Jericho and how this particular lyric was likely a symbol of things holding us back in our personal lives, not speaking of literal walls. It's also true that in many cases the things we beg for or think we know best are answered with "No" or "I know better" or "Not the right timing" from God, so we can't expect everything we declare to just happen right then and there. Even though we are His children, we can still be in error and ask for things not in accordance with His will. Plus, He disciplines those He loves and even allows horrible things to come into the lives of His children while we remain on earth. So we can't just wish away every difficulty. Sometimes those things are from His hand in order to grow us in ways we cannot fully understand.
This is of what I was thinking. Also we do have authority to proclaim that a person is healed in the name of Jesus and if that person heals than yes that is considere a miracle. God gives gifts and one of them is the gift of healing, through JESUS. So I didn’t see anything wrong with the song in my opinion
Vain repetition is always unacceptable… The walls of Jericho fell because the Israelites followed God’s specific instructions… Now we’re under the new covenant and Christian have the specific instructions to bind, rebuke, cast out demons and lay hand upon the sick in Jesus name! Our God giving authority is totally spiritual and not metaphorical! May God grace be with you all!
Music bypasses the prefrontal cortex. This is why it is able to grip the heart so quickly. It takes discipline to analyze lyrics in all music. Even children absorb the spirit of music. It’s very serious to have quiet moments to ponder and reflect. Otherwise we progress through our days without giving any critical thought to things and therefore no wisdom to go against the wiles of the devil.

I don’t see what’s wrong with the song. When the lyrics say “when i lift my voice and shout, every wall comes crashing down” for me that’s a very powerful phrase that changes me. When we don’t know what else to do or say bcs we’re so overwhelmed with whatever’s going on in life, we lift our praise not to change the circumstances, but to change us - to change our heart’s attitude towards the problem. For me personally when I am overwhelmed, i will push people away and isolate myself from them, even from God, so there’s this “wall” that i put up - it could be pride, shame, guilt, etc. and when i choose to praise him regardless of my circumstance, i remind myself of who He is and what He has done in my life; that’s when the “wall” comes crashing down. And when it comes to “when i open up my mouth, miracles start breaking out”, for me, again, it refers to what i’ve mentioned above - a change of heart counts as miracles too! I don’t see why it is weird bcs this song helps me to go through seasons in life, perhaps we have different interpretations :)
It's the Holy Spirit giving us the Victory through Chrust Jesus . All through him. We have Authority through him. And Spiritual walls come down through Trusting in him and his Word Spoken in faith.
"When i lift my voice and shout, evry wall comes crashing" means every trial in our life could crash down or God solved our problem when we pray to Him.. like walls of jericho in the Bible... This worshipsong is not bad brother's & sisters 😃

The line: when I open my mouth miracles start breaking out: makes me think, when I open my mouth And PRAY, Miracles happen. It's NOT MY authority that makes the Miracles start breaking out, its GOD'S authority. I think you're taking it the wrong way. When we Pray and have faith and believe and pray for God's will, God answers prayers and Miracles Do start happening.
Totally agree w you. Exactly what I was thinking. I’ve never heard this guy (in TH-cam here) speak before but was open to hearing what he said. He sounds a little self righteous to me. To say “I looked around and could not believe how many christians had their arms raised and worshipping…” was a bit much. Is he in a room just judging?! I agree what he says about the importance of lyrics, but rest of his self righteous reactions was a total turn off to ever hear this guy out again. Haha, how I feel. God bless!
Thats clearly not what the songwriters meant since they said 'I have the authority'. It wasn't making a claim that God is Sovereign and will hear us and work powerfully when we pray, rather, it was saying we have some authority to make miracles happen
@@oc1148 I hear what you're saying, and you are correct about believers being careful not to be judgemental people or self-elevating. I've been following Allen Parr for years and know that's definitely not who he is. Yet, on the subject of judging, I've heard many christians speak against judging yet in John 7:24 Jesus tells us to judge, just make sure we do so correctly, and even in clearer details 1 Corinthians 5:12 tells us that the people we aren't to judge are unbelievers but it is our RESPONSIBILITY to judge other believers. This, done correctly and in love, leads to correction and learning and growth.
@@courageahlaneltoluwase7315 you’ve got to put those lyrics in context tho. It’s “I have the authority…Jesus has given me” That is biblical. Matthew 3:14-15“Then he appointed twelve of them and called them his apostles. They were to accompany him, and he would send them out to preach, giving them authority to cast out demons.” Luke 10:9 “Look, I have given you authority over all the power of the enemy, and you can walk among snakes and scorpions and crush them. Nothing will injure you.” These lyrics are talking about the new strength and authority we have in Jesus. That different situations in our lives, problems, walls can’t hold us back. Why? Because Our God. Who is all powerful (omnipotent) is backing us up. He will not come down himself and do things that He has giving us the power to do. Hope this makes sense. God bless
Jesus actually told His disciples that they would do MORE than what He did. Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. John 14:12
Hey Allen! I’m actually the guy that was singing this song at the conference you attended in Texas. Appreciate this video. And as I do agree with your thoughts on worship in general, I don’t think that what you’re saying is taking place is the actual meaning and heart behind the lyrics. We take lyrics seriously as well. And in this particular part of the song, it speaks of moments when the power of God was released through praise. It still remains about God. And Him being the one that goes before us and fights our battles when we lift up praise. Scripture in various places support that . Glad you enjoyed worship outside of that though! Was awesome seeing you in the crowd! If Y’all need us hit us up!
I was there as well. You guys did a great job, but I immediately looked at the lyrics carefully when I heard this one (I'm always listening for new songs to bring to my church) and after reading them, I think that they are either very poorly communicating the author's intended meaning, or simply not in line with scripture.
I can do all things through Christ As Paul had boasted of things that were very great, in order that this might not be attributed to pride or furnish others with occasion of foolish boasting, he adds, that it is by Christ that he is gifted with this strength. “I can do all things, ” says Paul, “but it is in Christ, not by my own power, for it is Christ that supplies me with strength.” Hence we infer, that Christ will not be less strong and invincible in us also, if, conscious of our own weakness, we place reliance upon his power alone. When he says all things, he means merely those things which belong to his calling.
The lyrics he is mentioning is very biblical in fact this in the bible says : Mark 11:23, which states, "Truly I tell you, if anyone says to this mountain, 'Go, throw yourself into the sea,' and does not doubt in their heart, but believes that what they say will happen, it will be done for them.'
Couldn’t disagree more. When they mentioned “when I open up my mouth” they are obviously referring to the authority of Jesus Christ living within us that we carry. When we allow ourselves to align with the Will of God we have the authority to declare mountains to move and miracles to happen “as it is in Heaven”. Jesus taught us to pray with confidence and authority by declaring “as it is in Heaven”. Also, you mention the worship was ruined for you. Worship isn’t for you, it’s for God. Just my two cents
God bless you brother, this analysis is just so sadly wrong. There isn't a thing wrong with this song. 1 John 4:17 KJV Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world. Peter in Acts 3:6 said "Such as I have give I thee..." Jesus said in Matthew 17:20 "YOU will say to this mountain..." Matthew 16:19; 18:18 "whatever you bind on earth..." If we have the Spirit of Christ in us as agreed on in Colossians 1:27 is it a hard thing to believe that when we open our mouths miracles break out? If the book of Job 22:28 bares witness that "you will declare a thing as it will be established..." even to them who the scripture says that they should be made complete without us (Heb. 11:40), why should it be a problem that we in whom resides the Spirit of creation, can not create in the same way according to His will and promptings? After all it is all by Faith (ref. Hebrews 11:1-3). Sad really 😞
To, anybody who's reading this, I pray that whatever is hurting you or whatever you are constantly stressing about gets better. May the dark thoughts, the overthinking, and the doubt exit your mind right now. May clarity replaces confusion. May peace and calmness fill your life. God bless you , in the Name of Jesus ♥️ ♥️ 😢😢
Using thinking to rigorously examine truthfulness of teaching is what the Berean church was praised for. If you are unfamiliar with the Word-faith movement and it's distortion of the gospel it may be not be obvious why these phrases are so dangerous. Jesus never warned us not to overthink, he did warn us again and again about false teaching.... What could be more dangerous than subtle distortion of truth? Matt 24:24
This song is theologically sound. “As soon as the people heard the sound of the trumpet, the people shouted a great shout, and the wall fell down flat..” ~Joshua 6:20 And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. ~Matthew 28:18 And as you go, preach, saying, ‘The kingdom of heaven is at hand.’ “Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out demons.” ~Matthew 10:7-8 Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father. ~John 14:12
“Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruits.” Proverbs 18:21 ESV “Truly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and thrown into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says will come to pass, it will be done for him. Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.” Mark 11:23-24 ESV “When you hear them sound a long blast on the trumpets, have the whole army give a loud shout; then the wall of the city will collapse and the army will go up, everyone straight in.”” Joshua 6:5 NIV Where’s the lie?
““We are not stoning you for any good work,” they replied, “but for blasphemy, because you, a mere man, claim to be God.” Jesus answered them, “Is it not written in your Law, ‘I have said you are “gods” ’? If he called them ‘gods,’ to whom the word of God came-and Scripture cannot be set aside- what about the one whom the Father set apart as his very own and sent into the world? Why then do you accuse me of blasphemy because I said, ‘I am God’s Son’?” John 10:33-36 NIV
I'm praying for all my brothers and sisters in Christ to be led by the spirit, in all that we do, all forms of worship. In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray. Amen
"When I lift my voice and shout every wall comes crashing down." Reminds me so much of the story of Joshua in the battle of Jericho. I really feel the song is talking about prayer and praise. I've struggled with anxiety but everytime I open my mouth to sing to Jesus so much peace fills the room. He inhabits our praise. There is definitely miracles in praise and prayer. It also reminds me of the battle of Jehoshaphat 2 Chronicles 20. The battle was won through praise. I love this song, thank you for challenging us to think about it a bit more about it.
Bethel is not a true church. They operate by a different spirit. I urge you to please please flee from them and their music. The best lies always have truth in them.
This song is totally Biblical. The way we receive it or interpreted it. Might not be the way the writer interpreted when they wrote it. Can't judge what's on their mind. You may have just interpreted it differently than what was intended. We can misinterpret songs just like we misinterpret the Bible.
With all due respect, I think you may be missing the point here. When I hear these lyrics, I’m reminded of the power of Christ that worked through Paul and Silas in Acts 16: 25-26. They lifted their voices and a miracle occurred (the prison walls crashing down). Surely this wasn’t by their human abilities, but by the authority granted to them through Jesus. In the same way, like the song says, when we lift our voices and shout, we have access to supernatural power through Jesus.
I agree… the song continuously says “Jesus has given me” I don’t think the people singing are saying that they alone can make miracles happen or have walls come down. I really do love this song so I’m disappointed others are taking it this way☹️
I tell you this timeless truth: The person who follows me in faith, believing in me, will do the same mighty miracles that I do-even greater miracles than these because I go to be with my Father. John 14:12

@@francinesmith7884 some of this is very accurate though. We are becoming more man-centered in our worship rather than Christ-centered. And we are getting dangerously close to a Prosperity gospel
Poor indigenous people in the mountains of Southeast Asia. The missionaries came and taught them It is Well With My Soul even though Spafford became unbiblical. Now, whenever they sing it including some Hillsongs that we're written way before the controversies, their worship is unbiblical until another group of missionaries will come and correct them.

hi there! Thank you for bringing this to our attention so we can discern for ourselves. I just listened to the song: Bethel sings: "When I lift my voice and shout every wall comes crashing down. I have the authority Jesus has given me." Like 10:19 says "Jesus has given us the authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and over all the power of the enemy." So to me, this is in line with scripture.
Yes that is what Luke 10:19 says but you didn't include the entire verse. How about the rest of the verse "and nothing shall by any means hurt you". Are you suggesting that this verse applies to you? Are you saying that you can handle snakes and scorpions "and nothing shall by any means hurt you". Lets keep in mind that this is an OT scripture and being taught to Gods chosen people Israel only. How do we know this, there are several scriptures that tell us that: Matthew 15:24 "But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel". So if the 12 were to Israel who do we have? We find in the book of Romans the Apostle Paul saying, Romans 11:13 "For I speak to you Gentiles, inasmuch as I am the apostle of the Gentiles, I magnify mine office": If that isn't enough then we have Galatians 2:9 "And when James, Cephas, and John, who seemed to be pillars, perceived the grace that was given unto me, they gave to me and Barnabas the right hands of fellowship; that we should go unto the heathen, and they unto the circumcision". Simply put, the Apostle Paul was to go onto the "heathen" gentiles that would have been us then and now and the 12 "unto the circumcision" Israel. Lets keep in mind that the OT of MML&J (Hebrews 9:16) and the 12 were teaching a future kingdom on earth, the NT Apostle Paul is teaching a future heavenly kingdom and these two are not the same and can become quite confusing if one tries to blend it all together as if it applies to us today. I have to agree with the video but also mention that there are other Bethel songs that are just as bad.
While it is true, I think that the next verse Luke 10:20 "However, don't rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven." teaches that this stuff should not be the primary focus of a worship song.
I am a pastor and have a degree in theology, i heard what you said and i love you teachings on certain subjects, all teachers should be open to critique from other teachers. I also took this verse by verse and every verse of this songs is scripture based. If i pray for someone (which is opening my mouth) and they get healed it is a miracle, through the authority Jesus has given me, the same can be said with preaching and casting out demons
God is God…he is NOT required to answer any prayer according to OUR will but only according to HIS will…therefore …. It is not true that all that’s required is our “authority” IN ASKING God to do as WE will..which is what this song says…we have NO authority…in Him we have access to HIS authority…remember even Michael the archangel did not revile Satan but said The Lord rebuke you😉
@@lornamclaughlin2406 so what is then required for mericles to occur, can demons be driven out by us not speaking? Can prophecy/preaching be done, what you are stating tgat we have no authority, i agree, but with the Holy Spirit working through us given by Jesus we have authority, and in order for that authority to take effect most of the times it requires speaking, before you comment please state, are you a pastor or do you have a theology degree or from what theology are you basing you opinion on, because you are clearly misunderstand the angle i am speaking from
Not a problem. They are not saying we do the miracles, it's God through us. Why is this difficult to understand. God gives us Authority. I get that is what it is saying. You need another perspective or study a different way.
That things happened because of who God is not because of who we are. God commanded them to do that, their shouting is not what brought the walls down, God brought the walls down because the people obeyed what He told them to do
“Greater miracles will you do than I have done”. : Jesus Your words are powerful. Be careful what you say. Prayer changes things. My prayers ( when I open my mouth) in the name of Jesus, do change things. Read your Bible. Pray God’s words. It’s life changing indeed. My God enrich your wisdom.
Woah brother. It’s a reference to Jericho’s walls. Songs can’t explain in detail but Jericho’s walls falling was a miracle, that only took place because they were obedient to be silent and shout when God told them to.
Then they completely misrepresent the story, because in the song, God is implied to have taken a backseat and let US do miracles. Heck, one of the lyrics, are that we are SEATED in Heaven, undefeated. Where is that in Scripture?!
When I lift my voice and shout Every wall comes crashing down Metaphor referring to the wall of Jericho Also a reference to when we praise God (lift my voice) and proclaim His name (shout) the walls in our minds of negativity, doubt, hurt, ect can be broken down. If WE confess OUR sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. - 1 John 1:9 WE must lift our voices. WE must confess Then God will do His part When I lift my voice and shout (my part) Every wall comes crashing down (His part) When I open up my mouth Miracles start breaking out When we preach the word of God, then God uses us as His messengers. The people of Nineveh repented because Jonah preached the word of God. Jonah 3. 6 When JONAH'S warning reached the king of Nineveh, he rose from his throne, took off his royal robes, covered himself with sackcloth and sat down in the dust. Doesn't say God's warning (but we know it came from God from previous verses. Luke we know these words in the song are about God because they established that in previous phrases). Doesn't say "God spoke through Jonah". It says JONAH'S WORDS Jonah did his part....proclaimed with his mouth the dire warning God told him. The people repented. Then God relented. God chooses to use you and me as His messengers. He used Peter, Paul, Andrew, ect He uses people like you and me today. When I open up my mouth (our part) Miracles start breaking out (God's part) Throughout the song God is being proclaimed as champion, undefeated, conquerer. If we interpret Scripture the way you are interpreting this song then we must get out our sharpie and start redacting verse after verse when Paul said, or Peter said, rather than "God, seized Paul by the Spirit, and spoke through Him". Men and women of the Bible did their part, and then God did His. The phrases of the song are typical Assembly of God type theology. Agree or disagree with the AG .... Your theology is YOUR interpretation of Scripture (rife with the failability of sinful man), it is not THE Unmitigated Truth. Unless you have acquired the ability to walk on water your understanding of Scripture is just as flawed as the rest of us.....like looking through flawed, cracked, wavy glass. BTW, the prevailing theology of Jesus' time demanded he was a heretic. The words of this song point me to God and remind me I am called to be His voice on Earth. When I am obedient then He will work through me. When I am not and you are not then He will go find some rocks to cry out. I hope and pray you will stop with these videos arguing over symantics and a demand that everyone say things your way. We don't all think alike. God didn't make us to be cookie cutters. Rather spend your time lifting up the saints and sharing the gospel forthright instead of this backhanded approach against those who don't say things your way. As Max Lucado said, "When fishermen don't fish, they fight." Let's stop fighting and start fishing. God bless you and keep you.
Have to agree with this, and that’s how I interpret this song also. I don’t see how this song is theologically incorrect to be honest, but am open to a discussion & other perspectives.
Very detailed,i love this song and honestly it is written that God has given us Authority!!and this song gives you the zeal to exercise the authority God has given us❤️
Although you could interpret it this way. The natural understanding is more word-faith. "When I open my mouth, miracles start breaking out, I have the authority, Jesus has given me." The reality is people think of beneficial superficial miracles, not the conversion of the lost. (something we don't have authority over anyway) "BTW, the prevailing theology of Jesus' time demanded he was a heretic." True, but it was unbiblical theology. Like obviously so. Are you suggesting that we should not call out heresy? Because some was knocking about in Jesus' day? (He called out the heresy then, should we not do the same now?) If we take on this particular theology as true, it leads to us becoming self obsessed. We think that we are failures when the things we utter don't come true. What if we don't see the miracles coming? And when they do come- we become prideful. Simple theological differences can lead to great sin, the more it embeds itself in our thinking. And ultimately on the line here is the authority and glory of God. He speaks through us. We are not apostles, we, like you say do get things wrong. There is power in the gospel, power in the spoken word, but it is not our authority given by Jesus, but his authoritative words. How terrible, for me to steal glory that is Gods. We sinfully do it in our lives, lets not sing it when we're worshipping him.
This song in particular brought me out of a very dark place. It does nothing but remind me that through Christ I am victorious is that as long as I am connected with him I do have the victory.
You both are right. This guy is just trying to find fault more than understand 🤣 what they are saying. He views it in the wrong perspective, but it's no surprise because people do that with the Word of God too. It's Christ in us, he doesn't understand that. Pay no mind and let the Spirit lead you, not false perception.
Nothing wrong with that. You are truly worshiping God. And you understand those words that Jesus gives the power for the miracles and walls crumbling. It is biblically sound just up to the conviction of your heart. I personally don’t see anything wrong with the song. But I also see his point of view too. Some people take words and want them to be more straight forward instead of artistically sound. But I believe the Holy Spirit speaks through both.
This song is awesome. It does not put the focus on us. It’s stating when we sing and praise God walls come down and miracles happen. Just like when they marched around the city and the walls came down. When we praise God and worship him He can and will move in a mighty way. The only part we play in this so called “man centered “ thing is to worship God and watch Him move.
Yup. It's God working/moving through us as (willing) vessels. Praise, shouting, taking authority verbally, praying; etc is are ways that God encourages us (scripturally & for me directly from His mouth) to come into agreement with Him. The blessings & miracles move through us, but it's ALL from God. Period. In writing a song you can't break certain things down too descriptively or literally. They did wayyy back in the b.c. or a.d. days, but present day music isn't typically structured in that manner. But unfortunately, that can mean some ppl may miss the full message or intent behind it.
Allen apart. Read your bible again. Jesus said “Greater works than these will you do!!!!” God works through us. He needs a man to work through. The same Power that raised Jesus from the dead is alive in you! Jesus said if you believe you can SPEAK to this mountain and it WILL. E removed into the sea’ Allen. It’s not good to be criticizing Gods chosen people. Thank you. Be blessed and maybe stick to real bible teaching ♥️❤️♥️🙏🏻😇😇😇😇😇
I'm a senior, facing some challenges and find Dante Bowe's voice in this song to be a powerful blessing. I'm a miracle that lived with an aneurysm close to my heart for over 16 years, had a miraculous recovery from surgery over 4 years ago. This song confirms that I can conquer all with The Holy Spirit in and around me. Sometimes we pick things apart instead of just letting The Holy Spirit be our Champion. We're driving people away from the church by being so critical. Where's the love, compassion, kindness, forgiveness and acceptance of where people are in their journey???
@American Comrade You too bro. We've only got a limited amount of time on this earth and vids like this always make me think of proverbs 21:2-3. There is still much work to be done if we are going to be true fishers of men.
You can move mountains means you are supposed to be able to ovecome Torah transgression but it is highly likely that you and your church say you CANNOT keep the TORAH and thus try to make it done away with by a "Jesus" YAHUSHUA SAYS IN YOUR BIBLE, THAT BOOK YOU SHOULD BE READIN BTW: Mat 5:17 “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law [TORAH] or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. Mat 5:18 For truly, I say to you, until shamayim (pw heaven) and earth pass away, not an iota, not a dot, will pass from the Law [TORAH]until all is accomplished. Mat 5:19 Therefore whoever relaxes one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of shamayim (pw heaven), but whoever does them and teaches them will be called great in the kingdom of shamayim. Mat 5:20 For I tell you, unless your righteousness exceeds that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will never enter the kingdom of shamayim (pw heaven).
That’s why Jesus sent the Holy Spirit so we could do greater works. It’s Him working through us that miracles happen. Right after that line it gives Jesus the credit. You almost had me…
That’s exactly the verse I was thinking of when Jesus said that we would do even greater works than he did. That verse hits the nail on the head. Closed case
I do agree things are getting out of hand in some churches twisting scripture. I do believe we can bring walls down when we speak IN THE SPIRIT!! God commanded the Israelites to do that when the walls of Jericho came down. We don't do it on our own in the flesh.
To the one who is reading this comment, this prayer is for you. I pray that God will wipe away every tears and pain that you are going through right now. We aren't anointed by the Holy Spirit. There is no need. The purpose of miracles was to confirm the word. No one is doing anything nowadays that verifies they are under the influence or "annointing" of God

Commenting again with reference. This is what comes to mind when I hear that bridge - Acts 16:25-27: About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them. Suddenly there was such a violent earthquake that the foundations of the prison were shaken. At once all the prison doors flew open, and everyone’s chains came loose. We’ve been singing songs about the power of praise for centuries. “My praise is a weapon” is a popular refrain throughout the history of worship music. Popularity doesn’t make it right, but the longevity of that notion is probably due to its Biblical basis. Anyways don’t listen if you feel convicted - everyone comes from different backgrounds and accordingly will have different responses to this song. But I think this is a situation where we can disagree and neither person be wrong.
“On the seventh day the Israelites got up at dawn and marched around the town as they had done before. But this time they went around the town seven times. The seventh time around, as the priests sounded the long blast on their horns, Joshua commanded the people, “SHOUT! For the Lord has given you the town! When the people heard the sound of the rams’ horns, they shouted as loud as they could. Suddenly, the walls of Jericho collapsed, and the Israelites charged straight into the town and captured it.” Joshua 6:15-16, 20 NLT

Quick miracle story on this song and how God used it to save my house from being broken into :) Someone broke into my house one night. The Holy Spirit woke me up and this song was playing in my head very loudly. So I started using the authority Jesus gave me which He did. Matthew 28:18-20 Jesus gave the authority to the apostles and told them Go and teach others to do the same exact things I have taught you. And Luke 10:19, I have been given authority to trample of snakes and scorpions. Part of the reason Jesus died was so authority which was rightfully ours on earth from the beginning but was tricked out of us by Satan in the garden could be restored back to us. We have been given dominion in Jesus Name. So I started declaring that in Jesus name this person who was standing at the back sliding door (I sleep in the patio room in a loft bed so he couldn’t see me since the lights were out but I could see him) I started declaring that in the name of Jesus he was going to walk away. I started speaking to those spirits in him and bonding them and declaring psalms 91 over my household. I said in Jesus name Lord I speak the fire of the Holy Ghost and conviction on this man. He is walking away right now in Jesus name. Guess what? He walked away. There were at least two if not three windows open he could have climbed through and our back room is full of antiques. There’s no reason why he would have walked away unless it were a miracle. When I open up my mouth, miracles start breaking out. I have the authority, JESUS has given me. I said in JESUS NAME. Not my name. It’s His name. This song is anointed and the Lord used it to protect me and my family that night. Praise Jesus. Thank you Lord for the authority I have in Jesus name.
The Bridegroom who is the “WORD” (John 1:1 + 14) will marry a “WORD” Bride, NOT a denominational bride: Due to men (down the last 2,000 years) adding to and subtracting from the Word of God, (often due to ignorance) the pure Word of God as the Apostles knew it had to be “RESTORED”. The Lord Jesus Christ must REMAIN in Heaven until the times of RESTITUTION OF ALL THINGS, Acts 3:20 + 21. 20. And he shall send Jesus Christ, which before was preached unto you: 21. Whom the heaven must receive until the times of RESTITUTION OF ALL THINGS, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began. The word “RESTITUTION” means “RESTORE.” The Lord stated that He would send HIS END TIME PROPHET to “RESTORE” the Word of God, as the Apostles knew it. Matthew 17:11. And Jesus answered and said unto them, Elijah truly shall first come, and RESTORE ALL THINGS. The Lord stated that He would send His End Time Prophet in THIS DAY. Malachi 4:5. Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet BEFORE the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord. This Elijah prophet comes BEFORE, “The coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord,” which happens in THIS DAY. To recieve the Lord we MUST receive the MESSENGER who the Lord sends as the messenger is given the necessary understanding of the Word of God: John 13:20. Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that receiveth WHOMSOEVER I SEND receiveth me; and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me. We are now living in the last days, God has kept His word and sent His prophet, thereby “RESTORING” His word to His Bride. God has raised the dead on FIVE occasions through His chosen vessel. God was photographed SIX times, (Veiled in the form of the Pillar of Fire) with His chosen vessel. www.williambranhamstorehouse.com/pdf_downloads/the%20supernatural%20halo%20photograph.pdf The, “Elijah anointing,” (Concerning the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ) is used “TWICE” at each “Coming of the Lord.” John the Baptist`s ministry fulfilled Isaiah`s prophecy: Matthew 3:3. For this is he that was spoken of by the prophet Isaiah, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight. John, “Prepared the way for the Lord,” John did NOT “Restore anything,” as that which would need to be restored, (The full understanding of the whole Bible,) had not yet been given. th-cam.com/video/0Ax-wN1lpn4/w-d-xo.html

The problem is attributing the power to the person rather than to God. If God tells you to shout and walls will fall down, the power is still God's power, not the power of your voice.
God uses all vessels for his will even the enemy to prove his point or points to his people.god will be the final judge on weather its true or false.but we all have to make a choice in the discernment process we believe it or not. This is the first video I am watching from this pastor. I appreciate all the comments on here. This is the problem with taking a sentence or two out of context… The next line of the song clears up any confusion - the authority is from Jesus.
"When I lift my voice and shout, walls come crashing down" means that when we call on the name of Jesus, the walls of Jericho around us holding us back will fall. "When I open mouth, miracles start breaking out" This Means when you speak the Word of God things change because His word does not come back void but is promised to do what it was sent to accomplish.
Your a liar the bible says to pray as if that god may not answer and we do not have walls of jerihco around us jesus died on the cross if you are trying to decieve people you better stop
I think we get what it means….it’s just not correct. So if I lift my voice right now God will bring the walls in my life crashing down?? Job wouldn’t agree. Sometimes he leaves those walls up. If I open my mouth am I guaranteed miracles??? It’s just not accurate.
@@just_yvonne5579 but the song does not imply or support that. I agree with your entire comment. But the song that is being pointed out does not share that same message. What would keep a non believer from concluding something totally different. We can’t assume everyone has the same level of theological understanding.
Amen. The walls of Jericho is exactly what the reference is about. It's about the Power of God THROUGH the hands of His servants. I feel sad for this guy who did this video. It makes me think perhaps he's never seen a miracle in a person he prayed over (with his mouth). If he had, maybe then he would believe or at least understand that Jesus works through our hands and our mouths, just like Peter and John in the book of Acts. I was miraculously healed in the Bethel Healing Rooms on a Saturday morning when a man opened his mouth and prayed for me and I was instantly healed from a back injury that I had for over 30 years. That was 2 years ago and this morning I bent down and touched my toes with zero pain! 🎉 God works THROUGH His people and I will never be the same again. Praise God!
I’ve been a Christian since 1996 and have been involved in the Christian worship scene in different capacities. But at some point I started avoiding “worship music” because it was extremely shallow and, in most cases, theologically inept. That’s why I have come to appreciate Psalm singing. It doesn’t matter the genre of music, but the lyrics is strictly Psalms straight from Scripture. You can’t go wrong there.
Many worship songs are based on verses from Psalms. The psalms are extremely diverse, honest and emotional. Additionally, Psalms encourages us to sing a new song to the Lord- modern worship?
@@jessbarnes8521 in my opinion only whether they are the true to The Bible matters not whether they are new or old. Luther believed that children should be taught theology via hymns. His hymns definitely allude to that
I sing this song at youth group a lot the time. when the line says "when i open up my mouth miracles start breaking out" we are talking about the power of the holy spirit and how he works through us and if you take just those lines then it would sound self centered but when you take the song as a whole then it's clear that its the power of the holy spirt that works through us. That is why the next thing it says is "i have the authority that Jesus has given me" because it's the power of the holy spirit that does the miracle and not us.
That’s the thing if the focus was really 100% on God then they would say “when I open up my mouth (Your or YOUR) miracles start breaking out” not “when I open up my mouth miracles start breaking out” The thing is when you write a song lyrics you go over it multiple times to make sure it’s what you want after all the lyrics of the song is how you are telling people how you feel. Failure to find and fix this single mistake no matter how small it is shows us how they really feel. After you make something you double check, you triple check, some people even check 10 times to make sure it is exactly what you want it to be. The fact that despite that they made this big mistake shows that what they express through the song is not 100% what they feel. if they did they would have made sure not to make such a mistake. This is the truth and there is no excuse that can help them with this.
But here's the problem: You don't know that. Having the authority only goes so far. If it is NOT in God's will, you can speak til the day you die, you'll never achieve any miracle, never tear down any walls, we are all SUBJECT to God. If God deems it not so, it will not happen. These lyrics are heresy.
I haven't heard this song before but when I watch this video, this song doesn't sound as a man-centered song to me. This is 100% God-centered, and God's hand/work-centered song for me. ❤
This is saying “when I open my mouth miracles start breaking out”....why? Because we have the authority that Jesus has given us by his spirit. That’s why we have his power so it can be fully expressed through and in us. People, please stop being easily moved by these modern-day Pharisees and let the Holy Spirit lead you.
But the bottom line is, are they worshipping you or God????has God said this song is not good, who are you to stand on behalf of God The Father ,especially telling people which songs to sing?¿?God is The righteous judge, let Him be the One who gets all the praises, after all you do not know the mind of the Living God.
Exactly! We have the authority that Jesus gave us with our spirit! That is what it means. I don’t usually watch this guy because the only two videos I’ve seen from him, I disagree with. We have the authority in Jesus’ name!
This is EXACTLY like when you take the Bible out of context. If you think this wasn’t fully explained-hear me-you weren’t paying attention!! If you listen to the song and only wait for something suspicious to stand out and analyze that alone, you are going to find problems, just like someone seeking to bring down the Gospel with verses that can be misconstrued. What is the line that comes after “miracles breaking out”? “I have the authority Jesus has given me.” That right there is why I sing! That is why I have the been indwelled with the Holy Spirit! That right there is why we as believers can confidently say that miracles happen when we open our mouths in prayer! Praise God for the gifts of the Spirit, and I pray what I’ve said has been from God for you tonight!
This song encourages to know that IN HIM we have the victory. When our strength isnt enough, when i know it simply can't be done in my own understanding. At least that has always been the message this song carried out for me in times of heartship and tought me to trust the Lord more because the victory was already won in him.
😂JESUS WAS TALKING TO THE JEWS".. . MATTHEW ..IS A Jewish book!.. . MATTHEW 10.5.. GO NOT... IN THE WAY OF THE GENTILES.. ( JESUS..SPEAKING TO JEWISH DECIPALS) . some gal".. at work WOULD QUOTE that too . SHE WAS A " NAR"..👹
“Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.” John 14:12 NIV
I get the impression that Allen doesn't believe the baptism in the Holy Spirit is for today. There are a lot of preachers out there who sound good but deny this part of Jesus teaching.
There is no way he meant that somehow our miracles would be greater in power than Jesus had. Greater can also mean in extent. Jesus Resurrected HIMSELF from the dead. Jesus rose a man to life DAYS after he was dead. But the Apostles and believers have taken the gospel to trillions of people in every part of the globe for 2000 years as they did smaller in impact but greater in volume and did many things Jesus could not do while in his human form. Peter preached and 5000 believed. Jesus BECAUSE he is with the Father and is seated on the throne is no longer limited to what one person (himself) was capable of, but what millions as His body, are capable of. So greater things seems to fit better, hermeneutically speaking, with the extent and impact of their miracles. NOT that somehow your POWER is greater than He had?!
This was my immediate thought, glad you posted it. Jesus even got frustrated with the disciples for not being able to cast out a demon. They performed many miracles after The Holy Spirit came upon them on the day of Pentecost. So I’m not sure what Bible this guy has been reading.
“If you have the Faith of a mustard seed, you can SAY to this mountain, be removed..”. That song is theologically accurate. When Jesus sent the disciples to cast out demons, they recognize that the demons were answering to them. Jesus said that he had given them authority to trample over the enemy… this is the meaning behind these lyrics if you read in context of the whole song. The seed of the Kingdom was sown in us and the Word is in our hearts and in our mouth. So it is true that we’ve been given Christs authority and victory. You may have a disagreement with the theology of the Word of Faith movement. That may be why you were triggered by the language. But those who are abiding in Christ, we have authority. There’s a thin line between being sons of God and being independent gods. This song is written out of a trusting relationship. It’s not absent of Christ being the Head. If the song spoke ONLY about our authority, then it could mislead. But the whole song glorifies Jesus as the head. So the ending is not inaccurate to scriptures. “If you abide in Me and you will bear much fruit” (see John 15). Bless you brother
Well done. This resonates with me very much and I’m so glad I’m not exclusive in my caution of some songs that creep into the worship service. God bless
The song is referring to worship. Lifting your voice in worship. It is literally in the Bible: the use of worship as a weapon. And you do have the authority that Christ has given you. That authority being the name Jesus.
This one is not a win, brother. The song isn’t bad. Your take was a stretch. I interpret that as the holy spirit guiding us in prayer and that through His power and for His glory, a miracle can occur in my life. Through this interpretation, when others hear the song, others can be encouraged to confidently and faithfully pray for a miracle. But according to His will.
You can always interpret it yourself, but he's telling you to try the spirit by the Spirit. Satan is excellent at blinding our vision, thinking and hearing
I used to love singing "Rough Side of the Mountain" because it was nostalgic and reminded me of my grandmother. However, as I grew spiritually, I felt uncomfortable with the lyrics "I'm doing my best to make it in". It sounded too much like salvation through my own works, instead of what Jesus did for me. Maybe I misinterpreted the song writer's intention, but I feel convicted not to sing those lyrics.
“Truly I tell you, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in their heart but believes that what they say will happen, it will be done for them." Mark 11:23
EXACTLTY!!!!! to Saturnova: ya...your religion is teling you to interpret the words of Jesus! Did you ever considered that the devil is telling you to twist Jesus words to fit your unbeleiving mind?....the montains are nations? ...geee. I wonder what you will tell Jesus when you will meet him face to face....sorry. what you said was too unbelievable, so I had to come up with something else so I called the mountains nations...I mean. I know YOU said it, but common, I was actually supposed to take your words to face value???? I thought that those who took it to the face value were heretics....they were singing crazy songs about it.... By the way. so you can speak and order nations now, but not mountains? That is ok, but ordering a real mountain it is not?
Reaching…. “I have the authority Jesus has given me” clearly says it right there. It’s not “When I open my mouth miracles start breaking out PERIOD!” The meaning behind it was clear to me and I believe them, because God can and will work, speak, move through you when you have that relationship with Him. Stay blessed, less stressed❤️
I interpret these lyrics differently. When it says when I shout and breaks down walls. I interpret it as when I worship God it breaks down the walls around my heart . Also the next lyrics are when I open my mouth miracles break out. Again when I open up my mouth and worship God it breaks down the walls around my heart and allows JESUS to work miracles in my life .
When the children of Israel went around the walls of jericho they had to shout and praise and by their praise and shout but mostly their Obedience and Faith to believe God and be willing to be His mouthpiece Than didn't those walls come tumbling down. In Jesus name!!!!!!
According to Joshua 6:1-27, the walls of Jericho fell after the Israelites marched around the city walls once a day for six days, seven times on the seventh day, with the priests blowing their horns daily and the people shouting on the last day.
"When I open my mouth Miracles start breaking out" Bro Allen prayers are spoken and miracles happen! "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me". Not my words but God's words. W
Are not prayers in the heart, a melody to God? I believe the power of confession (as what you were describing, speak unto mountains thus and thus) is contingent on personal revelation. For instance, the sons of Sceva, Acts 29 verse 15, "And the evil spirit answered and said, Jesus I know, Paul I know, but who are ye?" When the devil finished, he possessed all of them. It is not enough to call on the name of the Lord and expect some mystical power to do as you commanded. That power must be revealed to you. That to me is the difference. Jesus and Paul both had the ability to cast out demons because it was a revelation from God to them personally. The sons of Sceva, even though they said the right things, called on Jesus' name, did not have that revelation. This is the theological caveat that the song does not address clearly, and therefore can lead others astray. Yes, it is true if revealed to you God's revelation, that your words, (God's revelation) when spoken, will come to pass. These are not your words but the words of Almighty God. The issue is when I open "my" mouth, it implies that these are "my" words, and is therefore obscuring of the meaning written within God's word. I'm curious what you think about all of this. Or if you believe I am mistaken. ❤️ TLDR: "My" words are not scriptural. "My" mouth is therefore inconsistent.
Mark 16:17-18 New King James Version 17 And these signs will follow those who [a]believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; 18 they[b] will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.”@@scripturerichnuggets
@@scripturerichnuggets - Right. And in this case there is no problem. Unfortunately he got it wrong. Read the comments and all the many references to scripture will help you understand this.
Yes that's how l get it that whn l open my mouth is whn l declare the Word... praising n do on ppl like to slander... l love that song n will not stop listening to it
@@alinadiyana1849 "I love that song, I will not stop listening to it." This is part of the problem he addresses. People lile the music more than they like worshipping. It's more become about entertainment than praising God. I don't know if I am as emphatic about this particular song as the gentleman in the video, but I definitely agree with his sentiment. Declaring your own ability or good works in the middle of a song meant to be sung to God is NOT praise. And saying the words mean something different than what they are is ignoring the power of words.
So sorry Allen, I'm lost! Jesus, Himself said: "Have faith of God; for verily I say to you, that whoever may say to this mount, Be taken up, and be cast into the sea, and may not doubt in his heart, but may believe that the things that he saith do come to pass, it shall be to him whatever he may say." (Mark 11:22-23 YLT). I agree that there is a lot of 'man-centered' gospel out there making so many people who think they're coming to Christ, unaware that they're actually buying into some philosophy. But that should not make us throw away the baby with the bathwater, putting question marks on what is truly legit. I can't help but ask myself what use the authority of Christ to Joshua was if the walls did not crumble when he shouted. He did not wait for Christ to shout for him, he shouted. At that moment in scripture, the gospel did not become man-centered, the glory still went to Christ. Also, Paul opened his mouth and spoke only six words: "Stand up on thy feet upright" (Acts 14:10 YLT) and a miracle happened. The crippled man sprang up on his feet and walked. We read these stories today and glorify Jesus. I should not think that any man would take the glory when I speak and the same things happen. My dad was proud of me when I negotiated awesome deals on his behalf as a teenager. I am sure that God feels the same if not better when we speak with the authority that He has given us. So to me, this song sounded perfect until I watched this video. I'd like to know what I'm missing.
I see absolutely nothing wrong with this song and I will keep singing it, calling things as tho they were. Prophesying that when I open my mouth miracles WILL break out!
Personally, I just read the lyrics and I just think that this song is a great reminder of who we are in Christ and the powers that is given to us as Children of Christ Jesus. Humility is important,God is the most high and in time of uncertainty, this song reminds us,well,it reminds me of who I am and what my Heavenly Father put in me. At the end of the day,all the praise belongs to Him. It's all about perception. That's just my opinion.
I would say rather not opinion sister, but Truth. We can't run from it. Brother is overthinking. Pray for his discernment to know the difference, to not over analyze, not over think, not be hypercritical when theres not even a reason to be. Wisdom is justified by all her children! Hallelujah!
You obviously know your Bible, and you know where the power comes from! That’s excellent, and it protected you from the bad theology actually contained in the song. This is what I have noticed: if Christians don’t know their Bibles, they will absorb everything in the song through the lens of what they already understand or believe. Everyone has preconceived lenses through which they view the world. A Christian, who knows their Bible has a biblical lens through which everything passes, and this is why you were able to listen to this song, and interpret it biblically. The average person who listens more to Oprah and self-help books, colored by New Age thinking, will interpret it quite differently. I believe the point of this video is that the theology of songs should be accurate. This song clearly says that it is our own words which cause miracles to happen, and someone who doesn’t know their Bible would take it at face value, causing them to arrive at a false, new-age-influenced theology.
@@cherisebeekman I agree we need theologically accurate songs. I don’t believe this song is inaccurate. I do agree that a new or immature Christian may misunderstand. They often misunderstand the words from Scripture. That does not make the Scripture inaccurate. It simply makes the person the Babe in Christ. The Lord understands that none of us will reach perfect understanding until we are with Him. But, I believe we often forget that the growth happens as the Holy Spirit leads us through and onto the other side of our misunderstandings. There is no avoiding that sanctification process.
@@margaret3785 True, and very well said! But at what point are we are brother's or sister's keeper, that we avoid a song with a theology that could be a ready stumbling block for immature Christians OR non-believers!
@@margaret3785 I'm a very mature Christian, but that song verse is VERY inaccurate, and I understand the Word quite well.... Only God can do miracles, never us, and there is NO misunderstanding here!!
Worship songs don't save anyone, but the Word of God does...therefore, Sermons are of the utmost importance. Songs do help soften the heart but are not and end to themselves...
I couldn't agree more! For years I've been noticing how "off" a lot of the theology is in the songs I hear on my local Christian music station. There seems to be a preoccupation with how righteous we are, as well as an over-dependence upon grace, as in, don't even bother trying to live right because Jesus has you covered. It's as if all the praise is being directed to self, rather than God. It's sneaky stuff. The devil is in the details, as they say. Thank you for speaking up about this.
If you read your bible everyday, you will find that the lyrics of that song are a written word. I think the song talks more about the how the walls of Jericho crumbled down when the children of Israel were instructed by God to shout after matching for 7days.
That's what I thought too! The Jericho walls came crashing down when God gave them the order to Shout! And Praise God! That's what the song means to me! ITS A SHOUT OF PRAISE TO GOD! ...Dont get me Wrong, I tend to stay away and not sing a lot of new “Worship” now... Cause I do recognize that it is not Biblical. But I believe this song is a story teller and truth from the Bible... You have just misinterpreted it brother 😅 all glory to God! It's not I who live but God!
I hear you & can see your point of view but i think, why not reference the Jericho Walls in the song lyrics? That way it avoids any ambiguity & it remains firmly rooted in The Word, Ephesians 6:17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
What Does the Spirit of the Lord mean Here? Proverbs 12:18 There is one whose rash words are like sword thrusts, but the tongue of the wise brings healing.
Luke 6:45 The good person out of the good treasure of his heart produces good, and the evil person out of his evil treasure produces evil, for out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.
I am so sorry that you have taken those lyrics so far out of context. The walls that are being spoken of are the walls that we build around our heart because of wounds that keep him from being able to manifest the blessings that he has for us.
When I lift my voice and shout, every wall comes crashing down is metaphorical to me. To me it means when I lift my voice and shout to Jesus, the walls I built up between Jesus and I come crashing down.💜
Except that Jesus said, "On this rock I will build my church and the gates of Hell shall not prevail against it." Have you ever seen an attacking army pick up their city gates and carry them with them into foreign lands? No, it's the defenders that have gates. I believe this means that we Christians are called to be offensive against the strongholds of the enemy, which tends to include gates and walls.
Advice for you: Just because a scripture means something to you, doesn't mean it's correct, because me and you can have different views on a specific scripture. So don't create the youths to be your mini clones, let them develop their own opinions on the bible. Because everyone needs their own relationship with God.
@@CristanioPeweyyy I wouldn’t say that’s what I’m doing….they can certainly have and will have different views, but the scriptures will speak for themselves and they often mean certain things because of who they were written for. We have to look at context and original intent. It has to be exegesis (from the text) not Eisegesis (our own biases)
@@CristanioPeweyyy No. Scripture is scripture, you can't make it mean something for you or anyone else. He isn't implying he is makingmini-me's, we want our youth to resemble Christ by having deep knowledge and understanding of scripture and a deep love for God. If you let people develop their own knowledge of scripture, they come up with all sorts of nonsense that fit their worldview and narrative rather than God's one.
@@lachlanmacintyre8991 Thank you for this rebuttal. The Holy Spirit is the Interpreter of the Word. God is One - that means there is only ONE Interpretation.
they are more than important, they are The Word of God : as it is written "thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven" - behold, I saw the throne of God and the Seraph saying day and night they sing and praise God never ceasing saying 'holy holy holy is The Lord God Almighty'
Jesus said this! Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. HALLELUJAH and Praise God!
The lyrics should be taken in context. The statement "when I open up my mouth, miracles start breaking out" comes AFTER the statement "I have the authority Jesus has given me." So the miracles are breaking out because Jesus has given us the authority and we choose to actually obey His commands to heal the sick and cast out demons. That is very, very biblical. Jesus also said in John 14:12, "He who believes in Me, the works that I do he also will do; and greater works will he do, because I go to the Father." So how exactly is it unbiblical or man-centered to take Jesus at His word and obey His commands? These lyrics aren't unbiblical. They're actually biblical, as opposed to some viewpoint that says that believers who are empowered by the Holy Spirit are not capable of seeing miracles happen. The song never says they're happening through our own power - it's simply that we initiate them by partnering with God in opening up our mouths. I think you might benefit from singing this song more until you start to believe it, because miracles are a huge part of what Jesus called His disciples to do every time He sent them out. Disciples of Jesus shouldn't be any different today. That is one of the significant reasons why the Holy Spirit is poured out: so that we can be true witnesses for Jesus who are able to represent the love of the Father and the Kingdom of God by bringing healing and deliverance to the people we are witnessing to.
No clarification should have to prop up a song or sermon. This song, and many more such songs is eisegetic. It's a pity that pastors have allowed 'performing artists' to bring another gospel. This is no different from the Gnostics in the early church. God have mercy.
I love this song! I never heard of it before this video, but you showed me what great lyrics it has. I think one of the great problems with the modern American church is that we forget to walk in the power of the Holy Spirit every day. We forget the authority we've been given by Christ. We forget that Jesus said, "Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven." - Matthew 18:18. We walk around spewing nonsense as though our words don't have power when we could be speaking in the power of the Holy Spirit, commanding demons to flee and breaking spiritual walls and chains. We could be, like Jesus, saying only what the Lord tells us to say, and speaking miracles into existence. But we're too busy denying that the same power that rose Jesus from the grave lives in us. So shout, children of God! Open your mouths in praise. Speak to dry bone and bring forth life in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ!
You explain very well. Jesus gave us the power and authority to smack the devil down. Still some people think it is wrong. This is the reason Jesus was so mad when the disciples could not cast the demons out; He told them, you faithless generation how long am I going to be with you? He showed us how to do but we don’t want do it. And when others are doing we are criticizing them. Why? The Bible said my people are perishing due to lack of knowledge Bless y’all
This reminds me of my mom that one time she saw me listening to a worship song and she said be careful not all worship songs are for him and I have this same mindset to when it comes to it, It has to be centered towards God not towards ourselves and yes we have the authority but under his name, we can move mountains and break walls through him. "We are God's empty vessels " when we put our hearts right before the Lord, He will use us and guide us to deliver his message of salvation to the ends of this world.
This is what the song is intending to say Read all the lyrics in context It's centered around the personality of God He even read so many words in agreement with it till he cherry picked a sentence that reminded him of a false doctrine
To everyone here. Hurry upp Read the gospels. Start with jhon It is brest milk. Then Rome. Then Psalms. And then Matthew. Then mark. And then all letters and Acts Then Reveleton then from moses 1-5 and then read everything in the bible. Hurryup it is more important than your TH-cam play time. Go and read the bibel now!!
You're taking this out of context my friend. Shouting out praise to Jesus tears any negative walls down and miracles do indeed happen. As a born-again Christian, it's a miracle that every negative part of my soul is being taken away by the holy spirit each day through prayer and through the authority that Jesus has given all of us. Try to see it in a different perspective. God Bless!
When I hear (or would sing), “when I open up my mouth miracles start breaking out”, I think of the power of prayer, completely grounded in the power of God. The only part that’s dependent on me is taking a step of obedience to pray. I know the power doesn’t come from me. It comes from God. And the miracles if we see them are only happening if they are in alignment with God’s will. This is dependent on solid theology…knowing any work we get the privilege of being a part of is dependent on the Lord, not my power. For that reason, I don’t take issue with this song.
This song is good! The wall can be spiritual wall like addiction, weakness, fear etc. the Bible story is here, we worship we praise and we shout for the wall to fall down in Jesus name, amen! The story of the walls of Jericho falling down, recorded in Joshua 6:1-27, is one that vividly demonstrates the miraculous power of God
@@robertdavis1836 Marc 16:17-18. Replace "they" by "I". This song is about declaring what a christian is able to do, because of his faith in God. Because of faith in God, a simple MAN can break any wall...
The lyrics clearly stated that the songwriter was acting on the authority given Him by Christ, on the victory given him by Christ

Too bad you’re the one that is wrong JC-sj2pd
Right!
Exemplo of shout and wall fall down
Joshua 6:20 AMP
When the people heard the sound of the trumpet, they raised a great shout and the wall [of Jericho] fell down, so that the sons of Israel went up into the city, every man straight ahead [climbing over the rubble], and they overthrew the city.
My son's church uses generic songs when they are making a point. Nothing wrong with it
It was such a holy Spirit service I still have it and the song, and cried, having my grand children listen, --- my son works his butt off all the time, gives to everyone himself. Lots of times a Day a husband does not get asked, how you doing. They always have to be strong.
Only God knows, stop criticising people
Good answer.
Nothing is wrong with the Lyrics, thats why everyone else kept worshiping and only you started looking for something to criticise.
What do you expect with modern pharisees?
Precisely correct. This is one of the reasons Christians are ridiculed by the unbelieving world. Jesus talked about "straining at a gnat, and swallowing a camel". The "religious elite" of Jesus' day actually used their fundamentalist interpretation of Scripture to JUSTIFY crucifying Christ!
He's not wrong a worship song can throw you off and the presence of God.
Finally.
We are, because HE IS!🤍🙌

Answer this. Why did NONE of Paul's 5O0 witnesses report anything at all about a resurrection? Why is it limited to a small inside club of writers? Why was Matthew 27:52 never reported anywhere else in history including the book itself? It should have been the most talked about event in human history

If there are Bible verses that say we shouldn't pray, lift up our voice, or even shout for miracles, or that the Holy Spirit is retired from the business of miracles, then let's talk about those verses. ;-)
I'll give you a real personal example that is an illustration of those lyrics (but, more importantly, the Bible verses that support them).
God bless.
100% agree! I look at that part of the song to be talking about that same thing!
Thank you
Amen to that 😪

Exactly 💯 agree 👍 👏👏👏👏👏

@@haphazard_travellerthis is not same as Doc healing. Faith plays a massive role here because every single time Jesus did the healing he said,'Your Faith has made you well', 'Your faith is beautiful' , etc. So it's very important to receive it with Faith.

Also, we often hear docs say 'his body isn't responding well to the medications given to him . '

“When I lift my voice and shout, every wall comes crashing down”
Read the story of Jericho when Joshua and the Israelites were going around the walls of Jericho seven times and in the seventh time, the walls came crashing down…..I believe that’s what this refers to….in our life God has given has authority to break walls in our life that enemy has put to prevent us to moving to certain destination…..they follow up the lyrics with (I have authority that Jesus has given me) this is good because they are not claiming to break the walls just with their shout, but the authority that’s Christ has given them…and I truly believe so….
I agree with your comment
@@YarialisLopez But well but its not you doing the healing its always gods decition you can not heal if god doesnt want it.

This, done correctly and in love, leads to correction and learning and growth.

Where in this verse does it say we speak, and miracles will break out?
Couldn’t disagree more. When they mentioned “when I open up my mouth” they are obviously referring to the authority of Jesus Christ living within us that we carry. When we allow ourselves to align with the Will of God we have the authority to declare mountains to move and miracles to happen “as it is in Heaven”. Jesus taught us to pray with confidence and authority by declaring “as it is in Heaven”.
Also, you mention the worship was ruined for you. Worship isn’t for you, it’s for God.
Just my two cents
RIGHT?? this makes no sense

1 John 4:17 KJV
Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world.
Peter in Acts 3:6 said "Such as I have give I thee..."
Jesus said in Matthew 17:20 "YOU will say to this mountain..."
Matthew 16:19; 18:18 "whatever you bind on earth..."
If we have the Spirit of Christ in us as agreed on in Colossians 1:27 is it a hard thing to believe that when we open our mouths miracles break out? If the book of Job 22:28 bares witness that "you will declare a thing as it will be established..." even to them who the scripture says that they should be made complete without us (Heb. 11:40), why should it be a problem that we in whom resides the Spirit of creation, can not create in the same way according to His will and promptings? After all it is all by Faith (ref. Hebrews 11:1-3).

If you are unfamiliar with the Word-faith movement and it's distortion of the gospel it may be not be obvious why these phrases are so dangerous. Jesus never warned us not to overthink, he did warn us again and again about false teaching.... What could be more dangerous than subtle distortion of truth? Matt 24:24

“Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruits.”
Proverbs 18:21 ESV
“Truly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and thrown into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says will come to pass, it will be done for him. ““We are not stoning you for any good work,” they replied, “but for blasphemy, because you, a mere man, claim to be God.” Jesus answered them, “Is it not written in your Law, ‘I have said you are “gods” ’? This man has tremendous fear of fully taking Jesus mandate unto us to go out and do the same works as he did, in his a mighty Name.
I love this song too. And, I couldn't agree with you more. I think I would feel it in my Spirit. He may be barking up the wrong tree.

Exactly. I totally agree!
Amen. I agree.
I agree… the song continuously says “Jesus has given me” I don’t think the people singing are saying that they alone can make miracles happen or have walls come down. I really do love this song so I’m disappointed others are taking it this way☹️
Agreed! It is all THROUGH Christ.
@White Rose Workshop in that case, I think about Jer 17:10. God knows the heart.
I tell you this timeless truth: The person who follows me in faith, believing in me, will do the same mighty miracles that I do-even greater miracles than these because I go to be with my Father.

I'm not trying to be mean when I ask this, I just want to know how you compare "voice and shout to trample" as being the same thing?
Yes, this is definitely in line with scripture! Not to mention places like John 14:12, Mark 16:17-18, etc
While it is true, I think that the next verse Luke 10:20 "However, don't rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven." teaches that this stuff should not be the primary focus of a worship song.
Joshua 6:20 and at the final trumpet they raised a great shout and the walls fell.
Amen
God is God…he is NOT required to answer any prayer according to OUR will but only according to HIS will…therefore …. It is not true that all that’s required is our “authority” IN ASKING God to do as WE will..which is what this song says…we have NO authority…in Him we have access to HIS authority…remember even Michael the archangel did not revile Satan but said The Lord rebuke you😉
@@lornamclaughlin2406 so what is then required for mericles to occur, can demons be driven out by us not speaking? Not a problem. They are not saying we do the miracles, it's God through us. Why is this difficult to understand. God gives us Authority. I get that is what it is saying. You need another perspective or study a different way.

When I lift my voice and shout
Every wall comes crashing down
Metaphor referring to the wall of Jericho
Also a reference to when we praise God (lift my voice) and proclaim His name (shout) the walls in our minds of negativity, doubt, hurt, ect can be broken down.
If WE confess OUR sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. - 1 John 1:9
WE must lift our voices.
WE must confess
Then God will do His part
When I lift my voice and shout (my part)
Every wall comes crashing down (His part)
When I open up my mouth
Miracles start breaking out
When we preach the word of God, then God uses us as His messengers.
It says JONAH'S WORDS
Jonah did his part....proclaimed with his mouth the dire warning God told him.
The people repented.
Then God relented.
God chooses to use you and me as His messengers.
He used Peter, Paul, Andrew, ect
He uses people like you and me today.
When I open up my mouth (our part)
Miracles start breaking out (God's part)
Throughout the song God is being proclaimed as champion, undefeated, conquerer.
As Max Lucado said, "When fishermen don't fish, they fight."
Let's stop fighting and start fishing.
God bless you and keep you.
Thank you for explaining this in detail. Suis d'accord avec toi.
This tearing each other down is unnecessary especially when there is no understanding
Have to agree with this, and that’s how I interpret this song also. I don’t see how this song is theologically incorrect to be honest, but am open to a discussion & other perspectives.
Amenn
Very detailed,i love this song and honestly it is written that God has given us Authority!!and this song gives you the zeal to exercise the authority God has given us❤️
Although you could interpret it this way. The natural understanding is more word-faith. "When I open my mouth, miracles start breaking out, I have the authority, Jesus has given me." The reality is people think of beneficial superficial miracles, not the conversion of the lost. (something we don't have authority over anyway)
"BTW, the prevailing theology of Jesus' time demanded he was a heretic." True, but it was unbiblical theology. Like obviously so. Are you suggesting that we should not call out heresy? Because some was knocking about in Jesus' day? (He called out the heresy then, should we not do the same now?)
If we take on this particular theology as true, it leads to us becoming self obsessed.
Exactly! Does not THE CHRIST SAY we have power in HIS NAME?
You both are right. This guy is just trying to find fault more than understand 🤣 what they are saying. He views it in the wrong perspective, but it's no surprise because people do that with the Word of God too. It's Christ in us, he doesn't understand that. Pay no mind and let the Spirit lead you, not false perception.
Very right because he said I gave u the authority, and the song says with the authority Jesus gave me
Am not totally in agreement with Allen. Think he missed it on this one. Can't find anything in error with this song.
🤷♂️ I don't see any thing wrong with the song, it is biblical and the focus is on Jesus Christ.
Wake. Up.
Allen apart. Read your bible again. Jesus said “Greater works than these will you do!!!!”
God works through us. He needs a man to work through. The same Power that raised Jesus from the dead is alive in you!

I dodt think some people read and understand there bible, as you said the walls of Jericho came down . that is what we have to focus on God.
Because God TOLD them too. They were obedient to what God TOLD them to do…and the walls came crashing down. It wasn’t about their power at all, but God’s.
Walls came down not because of the shout of the Israelites but solely by the power of God.
In 2 Chronicles 20:22 and when they began to sing and praise, the Lord set ambushes against the children of Ammon, Moab and Mount Seir, which were come against Judah, and they were smitten"

Commenting again with reference. This is what comes to mind when I hear that bridge - Acts 16:25-27:
About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them.
Suddenly, the walls of Jericho collapsed, and the Israelites charged straight into the town and captured it.”

Quick miracle story on this song and how God used it to save my house from being broken into :)
Someone broke into my house one night.

The Bridegroom who is the “WORD” (John 1:1 + 14) will marry a “WORD” Bride, NOT a denominational bride:
Due to men (down the last 2,000 years) adding to and subtracting from the Word of God, (often due to ignorance) the pure Word of God as the Apostles knew it had to be “RESTORED”.
The Lord Jesus Christ must REMAIN in Heaven until the times of RESTITUTION OF ALL THINGS,

20. And he shall send Jesus Christ, which before was preached unto you:
21. Whom the heaven must receive until the times of RESTITUTION OF ALL THINGS, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began.
The word “RESTITUTION” means “RESTORE.”

Matthew 17:11.
And Jesus answered and said unto them, Elijah truly shall first come, and RESTORE ALL THINGS.
The Lord stated that He would send His End Time Prophet in THIS DAY.

Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet BEFORE the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord.
This Elijah prophet comes BEFORE, “The coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord,” which happens in THIS DAY.
To recieve the Lord we MUST receive the MESSENGER who the Lord sends as the messenger is given the necessary understanding of the Word of God:
John 13:20.
Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that receiveth WHOMSOEVER I SEND receiveth me; and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me.
We are now living in the last days, God has kept His word and sent His prophet, thereby “RESTORING” His word to His Bride.

John the Baptist`s ministry fulfilled Isaiah`s prophecy:
Matthew 3:3.
For this is he that was spoken of by the prophet Isaiah, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.

The problem is attributing the power to the person rather than to God. If God tells you to shout and walls will fall down, the power is still God's power, not the power of your voice.
Exactly
I think the song is referring to the power of the holy Spirit in you. Song said "I have the authority, Jesus has given me".
God uses all vessels for his will even the enemy to prove his point or points to his people.god will be the final judge on weather its true or false.but we all have to make a choice in the discernment process we believe it or not. And honestly I don't think it's a big deal the man who sang the song had a meaning and purpose in his heart that he wanted to share with the rest of the world whether it was inspired by God just listen read your Bible and make your own concussion
God’s timing is His timing… His word is true and He cannot lie! Job was being tested as we all are but what happened to Job in the end?
There are old hymns that are theologically very sound
@@desertrose6516 I agree. And they were new in their time. Let’s keep praising and giving Him glory.
@@jessbarnes8521 in my opinion only whether they are the true to The Bible matters not whether they are new or old. Luther believed that children should be taught theology via hymns. His hymns definitely allude to that
Yes Sons of Korah sing the Psalms
I sing this song at youth group a lot the time. when the line says "when i open up my mouth miracles start breaking out" we are talking about the power of the holy spirit and how he works through us and if you take just those lines then it would sound self centered but when you take the song as a whole then it's clear that its the power of the holy spirt that works through us. That is why the next thing it says is "i have the authority that Jesus has given me" because it's the power of the holy spirit that does the miracle and not us.
I agree
Death and life, are in the power of the tongue.
That’s the thing if the focus was really 100% on God then they would say “when I open up my mouth (Your or YOUR) miracles start breaking out” not “when I open up my mouth miracles start breaking out”
The thing is when you write a song lyrics you go over it multiple times to make sure it’s what you want after all the lyrics of the song is how you are telling people how you feel.
People don't want to admit, they only take one sentence out of a song & disect it, to make others look bad. BROTHER Allen Need's prayer❤🙏
it's the word authurity that matters.
The line 'when I open up my mouth, miracles start breaking out' means that God is using me to do miracles not that I'm the one doing the miracle
@@Kosher_Slider u just said something that is man centered. what
This is saying “when I open my mouth miracles start breaking out”....why? Because we have the authority that Jesus has given us by his spirit. That’s why we have his power so it can be fully expressed through and in us. People, please stop being easily moved by these modern-day Pharisees and let the Holy Spirit lead you.
That is how I see it also. Not sure what is wrong with it.

This one is not a win, brother. The song isn’t bad. Your take was a stretch. God is against His Words being used out of context.
TLDR: "My" words are not scriptural. "My" mouth is therefore inconsistent.
Mark 16:17-18
New King James Version
17 And these signs will follow those who [a]believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; 18 they[b] will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.”@@scripturerichnuggets

Thank you!

Exactly. He moves in us and through us
You obviously know your Bible, and you know where the power comes from!

It's about opening your mouth in praise. The walls of Jericho fell when the people lifted their voice in praise.
That way it avoids any ambiguity & it remains firmly rooted in The Word,
Ephesians 6:17
And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

What Does the Spirit of the Lord mean Here? Proverbs 12:18 There is one whose rash words are like sword thrusts, but the tongue of the wise brings healing.
Proverbs 15:4 A gentle tongue is a tree of life, but perverseness in it breaks the spirit.
Luke 6:45 The good person out of the good treasure of his heart produces good, and the evil person out of his evil treasure produces evil, for out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.
No, the preaching of the word of God is more important as the worship !!!
Worship prepares our hearts for hearing the Word of God, through the preaching.
I am so sorry that you have taken those lyrics so far out of context. The walls that are being spoken of are the walls that we build around our heart because of wounds that keep him from being able to manifest the blessings that he has for us.
Yeah
When I lift my voice and shout, every wall comes crashing down is metaphorical to me. To me it means when I lift my voice and shout to Jesus, the walls I built up between Jesus and I come crashing down.💜
Except that Jesus said, "On this rock I will build my church and the gates of Hell shall not prevail against it." Have you ever seen an attacking army pick up their city gates and carry them with them into foreign lands? No, it's the defenders that have gates. I believe this means that we Christians are called to be offensive against the strongholds of the enemy, which tends to include gates and walls.
It reminds me of the walls of Jerico crashing down
“Worship songs are just as important as sermons.” So true. And thought provoking for me as a worship leader and youth director.

Hey fellow,
What is your problem?
If you lack anything, just go to the Throne of grace and find out how much you have been forgiven.
Finally some one making a whole lot of sense ...preach

Amen!
Amen. Very well said.
Oh amen!!
Well said
You explain very well.
Why?
The Bible said my people are perishing due to lack of knowledge
Bless y’all
This reminds me of my mom that one time she saw me listening to a worship song and she said be careful not all worship songs are for him and I have this same mindset to when it comes to it, It has to be centered towards God not towards ourselves and yes we have the authority but under his name, we can move mountains and break walls through him. "We are God's empty vessels " when we put our hearts right before the Lord, He will use us and guide us to deliver his message of salvation to the ends of this world.
This is what the song is intending to say
Read all the lyrics in context
It's centered around the personality of God
He even read so many words in agreement with it till he cherry picked a sentence that reminded him of a false doctrine
Ni
@Allen Parr can you review The Goodness by Toby Mac

Is English your first language 🤌
@dazzadirt8710 no. Is everything speld rong? Is it better now?
You're taking this out of context my friend. Shouting out praise to Jesus tears any negative walls down and miracles do indeed happen. As a born-again Christian, it's a miracle that every negative part of my soul is being taken away by the holy spirit each day through prayer and through the authority that Jesus has given all of us. Try to see it in a different perspective. God Bless!
Exactly
Exactly 💯 this is what those lyrics actually mean
No hard feelings but I think he's the one who needs a discerning spirit
Agree!
Totally Agree 👍💯
The story of Jericho is not about walls, it's about faith, faith in God, not man.
@@robertdavis1836 Marc 16:17-18.
Replace "they" by "I".
This song is about declaring what a christian is able to do, because of his faith in God.
Because of faith in God, a simple MAN can break any wall...
@@robertdavis1836 …and WALLS…literally about WALLS that fell due to their obedience and their FAITH.
