  • In this video I go over the new cooling system on my Jeep Cherokee XJ. My Jeep Cherokee XJ has had this cooling system for over a year now and I am very happy with how it is holding up.
    Thanks for watching!

    The rough idle when hot after a restart is heat soak. The fuel rail gets hot and the liquid fuel in the rail turns into gas. The reason it doesn't happen while driving is the flow keeps it from vaporizing. There is a heat shield available from Design Engerneering. I've got a video on that

    I have four of these jeeps and the main thing in your problem was the fan. If you replace the radiator get more rows than one in the core.

    In my experience I've used every part that's not Mopar and my Jeep runs fine. I found as long as the design and connections are the same they will work.

    I have a 97 XJ. I don't understand why some guys say their XJ runs a little over 200. Then some guys say 210-212 is fine. Mine runs at 210 to 220 going up long several mile long grades. I'm not comfortable with the line between running fine to warped or cracked head. I have a new engine, water pump, t-stat, lower hose, up- down stream 02 sensors, CAT and just about anything else that could effect a lean condition or temp. The radiator looks to be in good shape. And I'm getting a 20 degree drop from inlet to out let on the radiator. Is there no way to make these things run below 210?

    I would definitely get some heat protection for your fuel injectors the heat in the engine bay causes heat soak which “bogs” down the acceleration and just idling. But mishhmoto makes good radiators they are expensive tho

    • @KCars
      @KCars  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      True I do have some kind of heat shield on there that I think is stock. I was looking at the mishimoto radiators as well seems like they have OEM replacements and performance radiators as well

    My xj converted to both electric fans permanently. Previous owner removed the mechanical fan and put both electric fan. It's full time functional.

    • @KCars
      @KCars  ปีที่แล้ว

      Nice! I think another common setup is to have 3 electric fans up there. How does yours run with 2?

      @@KCars it's working fine. Though summer season is really scary in middle east region. Always cautious and keeping an eye on temperature guage.

      Sweet, I can imagine temperatures get pretty high out there

    I think that your overflow line has a hole in it and when it gets hot enough for the coolant to make its way over to the reservoir it’s spraying on your engine and hitting your spark plug holes or distributor and causing you a spark issue because stuff is wet. Just an informed guess.Also explains the steam.

    • @KCars
      @KCars  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hmmm that could be true. Luckily haven’t had that issue since I got the cooling parts replaced so it’s been running good
