- In this video, I talk about the cooling system in my Jeep Cherokee XJ and the upgrades that were done to it about 2 years ago. My Jeep Cherokee XJ is still holding up very well even in high heat.

Watching this video makes me proud to be a Cherokee XJ owner. These vehicles are versatile and tough
Agreed! Thanks for watching!
@@KCars Yeah, we have one and we already have it in some videos (beginner level!) on our channel.
@@4x4adventure_pl sweet!
I love your videos man, as far as future plans go you should replace your headliner that was a fun project I did in mine and would make a good/fun video
Thanks! The headliner is definitely on my to do list for the future
Recently did a coolant flush and electric fan replacement myself. This year I had issues when sitting and idling with the AC on picking up my daughter from school on a 119 degree day in Arizona. Just the sitting and waiting. I am debating throwing a switch on my electric fan to kick it on sooner. Don’t really have issues in the winter just the hot months here. Good to hear it’s running cooler for ya!
Thanks for watching! I’ve heard it’s pretty common to install a switch to manually turn it on and off
@@KCars I'm super new to XJ's, just got my first one a few weeks ago. When i put my climate control to defrost or a/c, it auto turns on my electric fan. I would try that before wiring in an extra component.
@@codemang87 true some of them do that as well, mine does not
Also as far as the xj I recommend using Bedliner for underneath and a Smittybuilt synthetic cable for the wench
Thanks!
I ♥️ my '98.
Good!
My XJ has been sitting up near the middle line which is 200? It usually cycles right about at that temp. I’ve been keeping an eye on it because it usually stays below that mark and I’ve got a whirring sound coming from what I believe is the water pump. I’m planning to do the pump just as soon as I can. Thanks for your video! Your Jeep looks great as always!
Thanks for watching! Ya mine also usually runs right under that middle mark and haven’t had any issues or whirring sounds after getting the cooling parts replaced
where did you get factory mopar parts?
Love your vids on the XJ, I picked up a 2000 about two months ago. Milage is a little high (170+) but one owner and a well-maintained AZ truck. I'm planning on following your lead, keep it mostly stock, restoration preservation project, with a Rustys lift.
I was wondering, did you get the long arm kit installed with your lift? I've heard it keeps the ride a little smoother. And what did you get the underbody coated with?
Thanks again and keep on making the great XJ content.
Congrats on your XJ purchase! 170k really isn’t high if it’s been well maintained. And no I didn’t get the long arm kit, it’s the Rusty’s 3 inch advanced kit and I just got the fixed control arms since I knew I wouldn’t be doing anything crazy with it. I got it undercoated with fluid film but next time I’m planning to use a black undercoating paint that my shop recommended. Not sure on the exact name of it though but I’ll make a video when that time comes. Thanks for watching!
Really need to know where you bought that fan bro 😂
Just curious, what company did you go with that made your water pump? So can a guy use a electric fan setup while using the stock mechanical fan?
I got all OEM genuine mopar parts for cooling. Yes it has both an electric and mechanical can, it’s the stock system
Sounds like you were getting heat soak as well, common problem with the xj, thats why it was probably sputtering so much, i get it every once in awile, it freaks me out when im in the middle of nowhere but it only last for a bit
True. Luckily it hasn’t happened since I got the cooling parts replaced
Brother could you please tell me what tires and mags are you using in your xj, and how many inches is it lifted please? Thank you so much
Not sure what you mean by mags but the tires are ProComp Xtreme MT2 31x10.50. 3 inch lift
I'm used to Japanese cars that don't really ever let the coolant go over 195 degrees Fahrenheit. 210 is practically overheating to me although I know that, on paper, no permanent damage will happen as long if it doesn't go over 225F.
Yup it usually runs right under 210 with no issues
city traffic makes it hotter ,65mph on highway constantly then you are good to go .lubing all suspension and steering joints every 6 months would keep your next steering box on the point.✌
Thank you!
Oil pressure is not good.
Concerning.
