My mom recently had a brain tumor removed and I remember seeing this podcast so I got her some to maybe help with recovery. After surgery you can have nerve paralysis (part of the face is droopy/cant move) so I thought maybe this will help. After her 3 month check up, the doctor said she was healing/recovering faster than any of the patient that had that particular tumor removed (acoustic neuroma). I told them about Lions mane on the first month visit and they brushed it off because they hadn't heard anything about it, but she kept taking it, I think it actually helped her nerves recover faster than normal. There isn't really any way to prove it other than the doctor saying the recover is happening "faster than normal". Maybe someone will see this comment and it will help.

I'm guessing that's why that kid didn't take that candy bar from me when I offered it to him. (Neighbor kids seen our fire and came over) funny thing is I gave that candy bar to another friend of mine who just so happens to offer it to the same kid I did. But he took it this time. Rogan has guests on because he's interested in the answers they can give him. It's not for you. These are his guests, and he wants to ask them what he wants to ask them to settle his curiosity. If he's not interested in what they're saying, then he's not interested and wants to get to what he's interested in. There's nothing wrong with that. If you want to watch someone bloviate for half an hour with a canned speech that resolves fuck-all go watch one of the million useless TED talks. Or worse yet, TEDx.

So thankful I found this video! I felt like I was slipping into dementia with memory loss, anger and depression. I started talking a organic dual-extracted Lions Mane extract straight from The Greater Khingan Mountain Range in China and my world got flipped upside down. For the past six months lost childhood memories flood my head at random times, often leaving me with strong emotions and tearing eyes. It is such a powerful feeling. I can’t predict it, they just come and go at random times, almost like my brain is trying to sort them out. Drink some Lions Mane tea, go to bed, and wake up remembering stuff from your childhood. Amazing. I felt like I did 10 years ago and my depression is gone. Everyone needs to know about this stuff. I made sure my mushrooms were tested for heavy metals, radiation and other impurities. Ryan Carrier They had a local shop close to my sister’s place in Cumberland on Vancouver Island but I’m pretty sure because of Covid they are doing online sales only now. They do have an online website. I did so much research on lions mane. It’s such an amazing mushroom. Your other option is to go on Amazon and try searching for RealMushrooms Lion’s Mane. There are lots of great options out there so look around and do some research. I buy the tincture version of lions mane with cane alcohol after learning that certain compounds can only be extracted with alcohol. If you are suffering with any sort of memory problems I can certainly help my friend. I have been researching memory issues and health topics for close to 15 years.
This is the one I use. It’s hard to find dual extracted lions mane.

This shit isn't funded to be studied more because big pharma does not spend money in shit they can't copyright to make shitloads of money from. Nope. They aren't good with just proving that some nature's made shit works and selling it for a fair price. It has to be THEIRS. That's called greed by the way.
Problem is, smaller labs or dudes studying this kind of things at universities have no access to funding, and they are so esoteric that people like us that might want to contribute don't know how to reach them. Hopefully nowadays with crowdfunding things are going to change...

Fine motor functions take the longest to get back. It is hard to say if the Lion's Mane is having an effect or if it is just the normal healing of my body, but I would say the improvements are significant in only 5 weeks time. My neurologist says that to him, I am 70% back to normal function with the other 30% being fine motor functioning.

Lion's Mane may be very useful for people with MS(multiple sclerosis), as it demyelinizes the nerves in the body, particularly the spinal cord. Myelin is the covering around the nerve which transmits nerve messages. Without it a person cannot live. In most cases MS is very slowly progressing, although I had a close friend who developed a very quickly progressing case of MS. In a week she was almost totally paralyzed, except for a small amount of movement in her hands, which she used to activate a breathing machine. She passed away at the age of 22 after less than two months of the diesease

People with really low dopamine depression might not get the dopamine reward that normally comes with being creative, keeping them from being creative. But also not that many people are creative too... Maybe he's meaning creative in your environment, like mice problem solving etc... Lots of ways to be creative that aren't just making art. Also take Kanye West for example, when he's on antipsychotics his creativity is gone he says, the way antipsychotics work is they keep your dopamine levels really low.

I LOVE Paul Stamets and Joe Rogan for doing this interview. My humble addition is that the hypothesis of the lion's mane + psilocybin (btw: microdose seems to enhance brain derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) whereas macrodose decreases BDNF) + niacin stack, should be complemented with a methylgroup donor like betain. Because niacin depletes methylgroups and a lack of methylation causes fatigue, disorientation and utter grogginess. But with betain this could work TREMENDOUSLY!!!

We ordered them from Romania. Other people use it for fly fishing, to dry flys. It is also called Amadou, and you can find it on Ebay, maybe even the same type hat.
I heard they wavered in production due to high liability, and hard to mass produce. Several people caught their hats on fire ! And suffered bad burns. Very good stuff!! Thanks for having him on Joe! Love your show! I got into mushrooms about 6 years ago and wow it blows my mind the things we can do with them! I'm not the best mushroomer but i've tried chaga, morels, chantrels, oysters, turkey tail, hen of the woods and chicken of the woods and so on mainly mushrooms without many poisonous mimicks. I recently found out about lions mane and i hike and backpack alot well and friend and i went hiking in the ADK's of upstate NY and we hiked a mountain thats less traveled and the entire side of this mountain was loaded with lions mane i mean loaded!! It was the craziest thing because on our way up the mountain i only noticed one small patch in a downed log but as it started to get dusk and we were on our way back down they were everywhere it was almost like they were glowing! We could see patches the whole way down, we could have filled garbage cans with fresh lions mane if we wanted to it was nuts! So they must grow on a particular side of the trees or downed logs they are near and right before dark they stick out like a soar thumb it was cool!! My point is these wonderful mushrooms are everywhere if you know where to look and they are still untouched in alot of places! This mountain i will not name but i gave it the nickname mushroom mountain! Just wanted to tell that story! Thanks Joe for all you do and your guest!!

I want anyone that is interested in lions mane or already taking it to please read this: yes, lions mane can be great. I personally take it myself BUT you NEED to be careful. Most people don’t know this, including Staments I’m sure, but if you’re going through traumatic physical or mental stress like drug withdrawal, a serious breakup, intense physical pain, a death, etc that it can cause “Central Sensitization” and it can be PERMANENT. I am not a doctor and I understand many people don’t trust doctors but I spoke with a well respected neurologist and this is way over simplified but he explained that lions mane can “rewire” your brain in a negative manner. A big reason people take lions mane is to recover from these stressors. Please do your research.
Also, Staments is talking about B3/Niacin (although he originally called it D3 like a form of Vitamin D). There can be some dangers in messing with your methylation cycle when using this supplement. Bottom line, do your research!

I have lived here my entire life (44 ) and am just now discovering that they are EVERYWHERE up here?????! I am KICKING myself for not having figured this out sooner!!! What a dope!!! I STILL believed, until VERY recently, they were only in cow fields known only by the pickers themselves 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️ I COULD HAVE BEEN PICKING THEM IN MY YARD FOR TEN YEARS!!! I feel sick to my stomach....all that time...wasted. I guess it just had to be the right time. Ugh. Ten years of depression, wondering where is an old lady like me going to ever find mushrooms again, I'm over 40, nobody is going to sell me mushrooms.
They are growing in my yard. I can't even begin to express how regretful I feel for not researching this sooner!!! 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️
But, now I know. Shits about to get real now!!! Woohoo!!!
*Edit: ok, I've seen a gazillion mushrooms around here, was always too afraid to touch them and figured most of them were poisonous because, there's no effing way psychedelic shrooms were just randomly popping up everywhere I look. That would just be too easy. Son of a bitch, they are.

@@aflockofbeagles8219 Be absolutely sure of the mushrooms you ingest!!! Many, many are poisonous! I recommend you find an excellent book with photographs to start you out. You'll find there are many types of mushrooms that look alike. The book I bought first was a field book guide called "North American Mushrooms" by Dr. Orson K. Miller Jr. and Hope H. Miller. It's a good beginners guide. By the way, there are many good mushrooms that grow in cow pies as well! If in doubt, throw it out!

@@threellamas16 oh yeah! I'm not eating ANYTHING until I have enough knowledge and experience to be 1000% sure of what I'm doing. I probably won't even try anything until next fall when I have at least a year of dedicated research into my endeavor. Fuck that, I'm cool with getting poisoned or death.
Thank you so much for the book suggestion! I will absolutely get a field guide asap. Seems like I really missed the window for good hunting this year anyway 😒 oops.

I made lion's mane po' boys for dinner yesterday and it was delicious. Turns out, per TH-cam, it's easy as hell to grow your own mushrooms in buckets. Guess what I'm doing next? 😁

Do these mushrooms still work if they're cooked? Does heat destroy their potency? Has the active ingredient(s) been identified?

@@ginfonte3386 Lions mane mushrooms aren't psilocybin. But yes if you are just talking about the nutrients in the lions mane I'm sure it decreases a little upon cooking just like everything else. Cooking and freezing has a small effect but not much.

He said vitamin D-3 is niacin, and is wrong.
    Niacin is vitamin B-3!
Get the instant release, and don't take it too constantly, as your liver needs time without having to process niacin in order to stay healthy.
I love niacin and highly recommend it.
