This has changed my life. I thought I had fibromyalgia or something because every single muscle was so tender and stiff. Turns out stiff glutes/ hips causes pain all up the back/ shoulders/ down into arms/ into thighs & shins... I had a rough few years and must have had a lot of emotion stored in the hips. I felt so much better, and looser after one session. I do hip openers daily now. Love your restorative videos. Very addictive. Thanks!
I'm so glad I found this video - pigeon and cow face tend to make my knee joints hurt, but these variants felt just right. Now I'll know how to modify the poses when they come up in your other videos - thank you!
I've been struggling with neck and shoulder pain which was causing me daily headaches. I've spent hundreds of dollars on massage treatments. I've done yoga but this deep stretch restorative from SarahBeth has been the answer to all my prayers. Thank you.
Oh Jill I feel ya! I also get headaches from neck & shoulder tension (one of the reasons why I focus on it in a lot of my videos) so I'm so happy that this video has worked so well for you!
Thank you SarahBeth. I loved this yoga. Sometimes I just need a little help getting going and your calm instructions and variations are excellent! Didn't quite get the movement from a lunge to going onto one hip, keeping both soles where they were, but found it easier on the 2nd side, so it was perhaps such an usual movement that my body resisted! Happy to try that one again.
Hi Sarah, I injured my hip 2 months ago by trying to jump start my workout program by jumping rope boxer style. Naturally this was done following a longer than winters break from activity of any kind " Duah" . I was a quick reminder that I need to follow the rules of a smart start up to a work out program or suffer the consequences. Only with the help of your videos have I been able to heal. I am afraid to use Chiropractors and I know that Ortho's will only put me in physical therapy. It only made since to use your deep stretch techniques. Out of all the Yoga instructors on youtube; yours is the best " love you soothing voice". I'm not completely healed but today was the most comfortable day I've had in months. Thank you!!!
This flow was amazing!! I sat on my mat, scrolled your channel & was called to do a hip opening video..this one was perfect!! Just what was needed, the time spent in the poses was spot on & the poses themselves worked wonders!
Day 20! Whoo Hoo! This was such a great video to end my challenging week. My weekend starts NOW!!! This felt so good I'll probably be doing it again after I get the kids off to school! Happy Friday everyone! Thanks Sarah Beth.
Sarah I just loved doing all the deep stretch exercises...had planned to do only the neck and shoulder stretch but i continued doing it for my chest and shoulder ,hips etc.....I feel so relaxed now....am gonna share these videos with my colleagues at work ....Thanks a tonne Sarah...the music that plays in the background is also very soothing
i was in a horrible motorcycle accident that left me hospitalized for 2 months, i had to teach myself how to walk again. This journey has left my body very very sore. your yoga has really help restore my body and lessen my tight muscles. I am forever grateful and love that i can just keep going video after video. THANK YOU
Merci beaucoup! Thank you very much! I do the "10 minutes morning yoga" every morning and usually, after, I do 20 minutes of stretching. So this time I made this video and I really liked it, I felt how tense I was and it felt good to gently stretch my muscles.
Hi! I'm a big fan of you, and enjoying your yoga everyday.Would you upload ”Yoga for piano player”? I play piano for fun when I have time. It's a lot of fun, but practicing piano makes me tired, physicall, and mentally. because it need to stay in concentration.I feel tired espesially sholder, upper back, hamstrings, and finger after playing piano.Thank you for reading!
リステリン Hi there! I can totally into something like that, in the meantime try the deep stretch neck & shoulders, Chest & Back & Hamstrings videos for an hour long practice :)
Just did this video for the month of yoga series. Even though I've done this video a couple times before, this is the first time since starting the challenge that I've been able to completely relax into each pose. It felt amazing. The Santosha really helped I believe. Thank you @SarahBethYoga !!
Thank you for this video and your other 20-30 minute videos! While I love a great, long yin yoga video, once in a while I just need a quick 20-30 minute guided stretch. I appreciate the videos you put out there!
Pigeon is my favorite pose in yoga. So challenging and relaxing at the same time; you can make it exactly what you need at the moment. Thanks for the awesome video!
I absolutely love this video. I've been trying to consciously create symmetry as I lift after a knee injury and I have found that my hips have become so tight. This is so perfect for me and I've found after a couple of weeks of practicing this video my hips feel so even and I can sink my squats and lunges deeper. Thank you a million times for this!
Putting the blanket under my hip during pigeon is soooo helpful, I didn't know I could do that! Thank you, love this video for my super tight/always popping hips.
This series is my favourite. I keep going back to it. Haven't actually done this hip one that many times as I usually have very open hips, but so nice to use now that I have a sore hip!! Thanks for these videos!!
love these deep stretch flows, this one particularly helps with the bursitis in my left hip. would love to see a 60 minute power yoga flow from you as I suspect it would be phenomenal! thank you so much for sharing your knowledge
I’m doing the 30 day challenge & was going to skip this one because I wanted a... well, a challenge. lol. But I’m glad I didn’t because I’m just feeling very lethargic today and this was perfect. Thank you 💗
ouch! I have such tight hips - did't get too far today - but will have to come back to this one another time - obviously a 'problem' area for me! thank Sarah Beth. xxx
That was so wonderful thank you so much Sarah! My doctor has been recommending Restorative Yoga for me, I am so glad I found you. I have already watched several of your talking videos :-). You rock!
oooh my goodness; i knew my hips were tight! XD The most difficult ones were supine cow legs cuz i couldn't get my knees to line up, and fire logs because for the life of me, i couldn't get my top knee to hit the ankle, on either side! The bolster helps alot tho, just gotta keep practicing, right? ^_^ And having a folded blanket in the gap between my hips and the mat in half-pigeon helped me relax my hips alot! I'm still so happy i finally got the weight distribution even! ^_^ I'm foregoing most of my weights and regular BeachBody workouts this week and taking a strictly yoga week, with your guidance and it has been SO enlightening and encouraging!
I freakin loved this, I am on the road to recovering my rectus femoris and this helped me so much, ive also done the hip and quad stretch and love both, it is painful since I am extremely tense and tender in my left hip flexor but both videos helped alot. Thank you!
at 15:00, i can relax into pose, but the arch of my foot sometimes cramps, throwing me into a fit. what woud you suggest to relax my foot prior to going into leg and hip stretches? I mountain bike alot and wonder if that contributes to my foot stiffness. I really like how unreckless your videos are.
+Brian Larmay are you getting enough magnesium in your diet? Properly hydrated? There are many reasons why a person cramps in yoga, perhaps try some self foot massage or gentle stretches before yoga and also after mountain biking 👍🏼
Hi Sarah! First of all, Ive got to say that I love your videos! Second, Ive got a question about hips. Ive been doing martial arts for the last twelve years, and i have never been very flexible. But it a good warm up, and some stretching im ok. The problem is that lately, my hips are getting insanely tight after training. Ive tried to stretch a lot to get more flexible.. But it seems im going in the wrong direction.. Any advice surrouding this ? Should I strech more or less? More hips ? Less hips? Feeling kinda stuck here.. Haha
That's gotta be frustrating! Have you tried the YIN videos in the Deep Stretch playlist? How about that kind of video immediately after your training as a cool down? The "Stress Relief Week" playlist on my homepage is a week long routine that is packed full of yin and hip openers. Try that for a week or 2, using the videos as cool downs when possible or in the evening, and see if you notice any change.
Ive loved all your videos for a few years now but during the past few months I've developed sore creaky knees which I think was not helped by yoga so I've stopped. The problem has been linked to uneven tightness in my hips. I really want to start yoga again but I'm scared it'll make it worse... Any advice? @sarahbethyoga
Dear Sarah, could pulling the ankles towards the hips somehow provoke thrombosis of the veins in the pelvic area? like the cow pose is not recommended for people suffering from piles, kind of same logic here. Could there be any connection?
Sarah, my hip flexor on my right side keeps tensing up during a lot of these poses, and I find that it restricts me from getting into a pose safely. Are there ways to stretch my hip flexor so it will allow me to get into these poses? For example, butterfly stretch tends to hurt my right hip flexor/groin area, and i usually feel it pulling on the outside of my lower legs near my calves. My goal is to be able to get into one legged king pigeon within a month or two, but I don't want to injure myself if my hip flexor won't allow proper form!
Have you tried warming it up first? Like mountain climbers, standing knee raises, speed walking or even a few sun salutations. There is also a deep stretch hip flexors video that you could do a couple times a week to hopefully ease the tension. Pay attention to your sitting to and if possible stand and stretch out your quad by holding your ankle to your glute. See if these help!
Absolutely! I know basketball players who have improved their jump, sprinters who have improved their speed. Opening your hips regularly, along with strength training, will help you become more mobile which means quicker movements, faster recoveries, improved strength, and yes :) speed. This video, The Deep Stretch Hamstrings, Deep Stretch Hip Flexors, Deep Hip Opening Level 1 & 2, and the Post Workout Yoga Cool Downs would be good for you. Save yoga for AFTER your strength training as a cool down so you're all warmed up.
It's difficult for me to see the point of just relaxing into a stretch even though it doesn't feel like much of a stretch... like the one where soles are together and we're folded overtop of the bolster... it doesn't feel very effective... and yet it is?
Sarah these deep stretch videos are awesome! They really take you deeper! Love them for everyday since you can rotate them and cover your whole body. I pair them with this th-cam.com/video/NPVX75VIpqg/w-d-xo.html Thank youuuuu!!! :)

Thank you. Do you do any equivalent video, or instruction, for shoulders?
This has changed my life. I thought I had fibromyalgia or something because every single muscle was so tender and stiff. The same happened to me , I still am struggling, but every day is easier. Changed my life too.
OMG. i thought i had fibromyalgia too. Stretching the hips works wonders!
YOUR YOGA is OUTSTANDING.
I'm so glad I found this video - pigeon and cow face tend to make my knee joints hurt, but these variants felt just right. Now I'll know how to modify the poses when they come up in your other videos - thank you!

Wow, supporting my hip with a blanket in half-pigeon is a game changer! I thought I loved half pigeon before, but now....wow
This was really nice! I have a lot of tension in my hips. This helps to relax a bit. Thank you
Thank you SarahBeth. I loved this yoga. Sometimes I just need a little help getting going and your calm instructions and variations are excellent! I was super tight today after feeling really good yesterday. Thank you for reminding us to be happy where we are.

This was lush, and beautifully instructed. Thankyou
I think I could have fallen asleep in butterfly had I stayed a couple more minutes. Awesome video!!
bethany taylor Aww that's such a nice pose! Glad you liked it!
Bless you for the "if you're not flexible (at all)" prop modifications!

Love this. Seems like everyone else tried this one 3 years ago but it’s new to me. Fabulous relaxing and super chilling! ❤️
Never too late to try something new! ❤️

My right piriformis has been cripplingly tight the past couple of weeks so this video helps a ton to relax my hips so it's not so painful. Thank you!

I did the whole deep stretch today... I really needed it... YOU ARE AMAZING!!! I feel like a wet noodle (In a good way!)
This was wonderful! I had SPD so bad in my first pregnancy that I hope doing poses like this will help if I decide to get pregnant with a second!
I freakin loved this, I am on the road to recovering my rectus femoris and this helped me so much, ive also done the hip and quad stretch and love both, it is painful since I am extremely tense and tender in my left hip flexor but both videos helped alot. Thank you!

Você é perfeita 😍
Thanks, I need these deep stretches for my tight piriformis on my left buttock which causes my sciatica pain !
2x speed for when ain't 'nobody got time for that
+Kevin Miles 😂
I use 2x speed to preview a routine. It's pretty funny to hear Sara Beth talk so fast.
i like the hip stretching ones because then i can try the baby crane pose lol
Unable to lift my feet backwards like you, will it take years to practice that?
In fire logs, my knee isa a good six inches above my ankle.....is that normal?
Well that helped me identify what I need to work on. That was difficult to relax through. My hips dont lie lol😅
You got this 💙
This kicked my ass lol. My coach showed me this and said it would make me faster is that true??

Just not what i needed today :(
That was really wonderful! Thank you so much!
