What I loved was that this entire scene was not in the script, but when they all busted out laughing it was to good to throw out, & has become the main scene in the movie over the year's
@@Carnage924 What you have there is an urban myth. This scene was too well choreographed to have been a complete adlib. As the camera pulls out from the initial framing Coach Warren (Doug McGrath) is positioned to block the picture of President Eisenhower and he spends most of the scene making sure he obscures the picture. As the scene closes and the camera pushes in both McGrath and Hindman clear the sightline of the picture so the camera can get a closeup of Eisenhower's grin. It is also notable that they used Norman Rockwell's painting of Eisenhower since this presented a slightly characterized version of Eisenhower's smile, further enhancing the effect in the shot.
I often wondered if they stitched in the coaches in the background after Ms Balbricker's scene and lines were done. I dont know they could have done this with everyone together it just doesn't seem possible 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Who wouldn't howl at this🤔🤔🤣🤣🤣🤣. The best part of all this was the older coach biting his hand trying to contain his laughter. The youngest coach made this worse just simply falling out of his seat in stages and finally onto the floor with the phone. Mind You!!!...The Phone
What really made it great was that it followed the Lassie scene and the shower room scene. Three iconic comedy scenes in a row that had me hurting I laughed so hard.
Her best acting was in the shower with a foot on the wall and a weird look on her face like "I've wanted to rip one of these off by the roots since I was 12yo!!!"
@joenenninger971 I would love to know that. Love the profile pic. I am also a huge Cardinals fan. Sucks they had a couple of bad years. Hope the club can turn it around
Especially since Eisenhower is reported to have kept a mistress during WW II, Kay Summersby. She's included in many of the WWII movies with Eisenhower depicted in them.
I remember being in the movie theater with my dad watching this when it came out. Everyone was laughing and on the floor! What a great scene. R.I.P. dad, we had a great time that night
I remember seeing this on television, and by the end of this scene, my ribs hurt from laughing and I could barely breathe! This is one of the best comedy film scenes ever made!
I saw it in the theater myself, twice. It is the funniest movie I have ever seen. If I were acting in the scene, I'd have to be sticking a needle in my body to keep from rolling on the floor.😂 A legend! At least Boyd Gaines and the other two could laugh. They sure weren't having to fake their reactions.
How she managed to get out the " and I'm not going to let him slip through my fingers" line without bursting out laughing is beyond me. A true professional.
When this movie came out, everyone who saw it said that the principals' office scene was the ultimate part of the whole movie... entire audiences literally laughed themselves sick !!!
I am 77, and must admit. THIS ENTIRE SCENE was absolutely the funniest, hardest laughing, crying real tears of laughter unforgettable I have ever seen. Just the mention of Tallywhacker....even today. Takes me back to laughing so hard again. FANTASTIC COMEDY AT IT'S FINEST.
This has to be the FUNNIEST, UNEDITED SCENE in the history of comedies!! I LAUGH just as much NOW as I did back then!!! 😂 😂 How they kept straight faces for nearly 4 minutes is a MIRACLE!!
Part of what makes this scene so gut bustingly funny is while the mousy Mr. Carter and Miss Ballbricker are having this conversation, the young and middle aged coaches start off trying to keep from laughing, and then finally, forget it, and they begin laughing uncontrollably, and the senior male coach is looking serious and grim, but then even he begins losing it. I can't help but wonder if this scene was done in one take. I'm curious, not only because the actors' laughter seems more real to me than scripted, plus, Mr. Carter stumbling over his lines. I'm guessing Bob Clark must have thought it was so funny, there was no need to do anymore takes. But I am convinced this is the single funniest scene in Porky's. Two Thumbs Up!!
I went to see “Porky’s” the weekend that it opened in theaters, and I didn’t know anyone who saw it before I did, so I had no idea how funny it would be. This scene, as well as the “Lassie” scene, caused the most laughter I’ve ever heard in a movie theater. I had also smoked pot with my friends before the movie, so we were REALLY losing it.
The bit that just shows his hand waving around as he is one the floor laughing 'it was last seen hanging around.....'. Whoever wrote that scene is a comic genius.
The girls' locker room pretending to be an Ice Cream cone...is what it amounts too. It's such a classic. In my top 10 for the shower scene and this scene alone. 👌 and whatnot. 😂😅🎉
The assistant coach standing up in the back cracks me up every time. He's the guy who totally loses it in the gym when "Lassie" is upstairs howling 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Kudos to the actor at dead center frame for hiding the big reveal. Once all the men break down in laughing fits, we're treated to then current President Eisenhower having a laugh through his portrait!
I remember watching this movie when it came out. Not only was I crying/gasping from laughing so hard, the rest of the movie patrons were moving back and forth in gales of laughter.
There are those lines and scenes that can and will always stand up to the test of times. I don’t care what anyone says. This is in my top ten funniest scenes in movies ever. There is no way I could have done it. Hats off to all that were involved in it.

Clearly, this would be considered tame by today's 'enlightened audiences'. But back in the day, it crossed every line, and people lined up in droves to see it. I don't think the producers ever expected it to be such a hit. And here it is, over 40 years later.. considered a classic!
One of the greatest comedy moments in movie history! It's right up there with the first Police Academy movie's Commander Lasarred slide show presentation!!😉😅😂😂🤣🤣🤣😂😂😅😏
This is one of the naughtiest but funniest scenes in movie history!! I really would like to know how long it took them to get the scene right. Just hilarious!! The ending closeup on Ike smiling is the cherry on top!!
I wonder how many takes they made to get this right: I saw it in the theater twice, and I was on the floor laughing my ass off! Still does the trick now.
How many takes do you think it was before? They actually got this on video without the entire cast, crew, lighting, gaffs, and anybody else within an earshot not busting out and pissing themselves
The fact that they manager to get this scene in the can in a continuous take speaks volumes to the skill of all involved.

"I like Ike" Campaign slogan from 1952. I have a vague memory of my father pointing it out on our tiny screen B&W TV of the early 1950s.
