My grandfather was a crime scene photographer in Las Vegas from the early 1970s to late 80s. He has often said (and I'm paraphrasing) that this book/movie perfectly encapsulates the spirit of Las Vegas during that time.
@@QEsposito510 He DID have a number of note books like that, that he wrote in at the time. He eventually destroyed them (something he regrets). Gary was filming a movie in Vancouver in early 90s and came to see our band play at the Town Pump. We did not know he was in the audience, when his handler came up after first set and said " to me"rGary Busey is here, and would like to have a small chat with you". I was escorted to his table, and I could see he was a bit more than slightly drunk. During the 5 mins he talked to me, he did not mind at all that my face got in the way of all his cigar smoke. He asked if he could get up and play drums on a song or two with us the next night. I agreed. He did not show up.
In his interview with Rolling Stone, he discussed this incident. He did not have beer, it was a fifth of Jack Daniels. The cop made him do the walk, which he did perfectly, turned around, flipped his sunglasses up off his face and caught them behind his back. The police officer, disgusted, told him to get out of there.
Gary improvised the last part of this scene where he asks for a little kiss 😂 Johnny was not expecting this one and you can tell from his reaction. A great performance by both
For those who don't get it, the entire interaction with the cop is a hallucination. Half the movie is just Raoul Duke (Depp/Thompson) having wild and vivid hallucinations. The dude is on so many drugs that half of what he sees isn't real.
@ Do you really think some random cop is going to chase someone down only to let them go and ask them to make out? The whole situation is completely absurd, because it's not real. Go back and watch the movie again. At no point does the movie tell you he's tripping, it's up to you to figure it out.
@@30-06Lover way cleaner feeling, and everything is just comfortable, and amazing. The, what I call "dirty acid", feels too stimulating and the visuals are not as profound. That's what I've noticed.
Ive only not gotten real acid one time in the past decade of buying acid as often as possible, and usually incredibly potent. It depends on your location but one time cooking LSD produces so much of it that youre more likely to get LSD or a close analogue than anything else on paper.
I had a friend, now deceased, who one time on his brand new ‘79 Honda CB 750, I think it was the year the HP increased to 80 or something like that, who, while stoned on acid somehow talked his way out of a speeding ticket on surface streets. He was going at least twice the limit when he was popped. He pulled away from a light and just nailed it. I passed him in my car and saw him getting pulled over and talking to the cop. I don’t know how he did it…..and when asked we didn’t receive a straight answer. I owned the same bike and mine laid me down when the oil filter cap popped off and dumped all my motor oil in the path of my rear tire. And my friend actually died on his bike exactly 24 hours before I had to drop mine. When my rear tire got saturated with oil, I was slipping and sliding all over the place and just laid it down. It seemed like I was in an earthquake…and it occurred on surface streets….about five minutes earlier I was doing 90+ miles an hour on the freeway. My friend died doing 90 on surface streets when an old lady in a big “land yacht” pulled out in front of him giving him no time to stop.
