  • Our locomotive fleet is constantly evolving and being updated. Check out what's new in our roster, as well as a detailed look at every locomotive. We will cover all the modifications, customizations, details, as well as DCC & Sound features in each locomotive. Scroll down to "video navigation" to As always, thanks for watching!
Regarding the custom sounds, I am excited to say that the first locomotive will be new ScaleTrains ES44AC file, which will feature multiple custom horns/bells/air compressors/and more - all accurate to the prototype. You can get them by pre-ordering your engine exclusively through lombard hobbies and adding the custom sound file option ($24.99), which be installed by the shop technician before shipping to you! I am also working on other custom sound files for the SD40-2, Dash 9, SD45 (Already available!), Tier 4, and SD70Ace. What else would y'all like to see?
    Video Navigation:
    Coming Soon
    Thanks for watching!

Josh: It's pretty much a stock locomotive, i just replaced the headlights, number boards, ditch lights, computer screens, opened the cab windows and the nose door, added some decals, did a little light weathering, and added custom sound files.
    Me: Am I hallucinating?

O.K., So even I had to laugh at my son. After all the hours I have seen him pour into each of these projects, the attention to detail, the truly genuine enjoyment he gets from customizing each locomotive to make them all look so prototypical, to call them "stock" made me chuckle too. To me, it is always exciting to see a "stock" engine transformed into an amazing representation of the "real" thing! So, I guess I am lucky to have all these "stock" locomotives to pull trains around the tracks downstairs! 😉🥴

I counted at least $11k worth of engines in the first shot. That’s insane, but this setup is amazing. If I didn’t get into cars I would definitely build a nice layout. Keep it going!

Never had any interest in model trains till this Covid summer in London while recovering from genetic, not lifestyle, based heart attack in April (all the best for med school!). No idea how the algorithms brought your fascinating videos up in my TH-cam list. But this 65-year old Englishman a very long summer job in a holiday camp outside Hendersonville, NC, and got to Ashville a few times to watch bands, eg Greg Allman. Saw and heard a lot of trains - so huge compared to UK. Always tooting and dinging as they crept along town streets (never have that here). No passenger trains. And the rails were always crooked so the slow moving engines straightened them out as they went. Scenery of Blue Ridge Mountain region is just as I remember and my cine film shows. Did a lot if swimming in lakes. All sun first half of that summer, then non-stop rain. We drank a lot of beer (very weak and tasteless compared to European beer) and Boons Farm fruit wine. Now my cousin sells all his hops to the US for your growing craft beer industry. Also recall Biltmore milk and amused to see Biltmore on some of your videos. Long time ago and happy times.

Awesome stuff! I became a railfan near Sacramento in 1999 and then got stationed east of St. Louis from 2000-2004. The NS line ran right past my workplace at Scott AFB, IL and I instantly became enamored with the Norfolk Southern. I railfanned that line the 52 months I lived there and just fell in love with their eclectic roster. Horsehead logo came along and I got some of the first photos of the 9749 at New Baden while it was waiting for an eastbound. By then I was familiar with some of the crews and I got a nice look in the cab of 9749 that day...one of many cab visits over the years. Once I moved back to Arizona in 2004 I began railfanning the BNSF Phoenix Sub as it was only a mile away. Happily there was no shortage of NS power on the BNSF over the next few years so my appetite for ponies was regularly fulfilled. Fast-forward to July 2012 and I just had to make the trip to Spencer, NC museum for the NS Heritage Units Family Portrait event. Phoenix is hot but I'd not experienced heat AND humidity like I did in NC during that trip. I even took the opportunity to go up in a Cessna that afternoon and do some aerial photography of the museum and Spencer itself.
I really miss seeing and hearing the NS on a regular basis. Videos like yours help fill some of that vacancy. Thanks for this great vid and good luck in med school!

My son is a second year resident in Internal Medicine and hopes to go onto another residency program in Cardiology.
My wife is a Family Practice doctor of 32 years, and his cousin just started medical school in West VA.
Knowing what they all went through, I am afraid your RR may need to take a break for awhile.
Med School is very demanding of your time for the first two years. Not to say that the years for rotations are not also demanding of your time. (I certainly hope you enjoy reading and lots of coffee.).
When my son applied to the medical school he attended, they had over 13,000 applications.
They interviewed 600 and selected 270 to enter into his class.
(I equate the application process like Top Gun: You’re there with “The Best Of The Best”!!!
Wishing you the best for your career in medicine.

I always look forward to Josh coming home and the two of us going downstairs to run a few trains ... or ... work on making stock things look like real things!
It sounds like you have quite the medical family too!

Great details inside the cab! Most of the items on the window dash are actually crewpacks and not trash. Crewpacks are plastic sleeves that contain paper towels, handwipes and garbage bags for the crews. Often the crews just toss the packs onto the window dashes.
