You took me back to my childhood. In the 1970's as teenagers we hopped on a train to New Orleans. It was a big adventure for a small town Mississippi boy. Later, as a physician I had a few patients that rode the rails. You are enjoying your youth, good to see. Thank you for sharing.
Thoroughly enjoyed this video. I'm originally from New Orleans, live in Slidell, and I make that trip up I-59 to Meridian several times a year. It was great to see it from a different vantage point and yet pick out familiar places that I have seen while in the interstate. And thanks for tagging locations! I'm a new subscriber now!
Done that ride myself, many times. Going over the water is AWESOME, and the music of the train, and the rust and grease smell. I miss it, but hopping freight is a young man's game. I'm not sure I could even run fast enough now to catch on the fly.
good stuff. i wonder if you'd be in "jazz central" if you had stayed on a little longer, but obviously more eyes would have been on you there during the day. Great stuff though.
I’m worried about your safety , but you’re showing me stuff that otherwise , I would never get to see.Thank you ❤for your artistry. Please be careful. 😊
Great video thanks for posting. Both of my parents are from Laurel Mississippi and I’m very familiar with this track between Laurel up to Meridian and down to Hattiesburg. I’m surprised when you were on the siding north of Laurel at two freight pass but not the Amtrak. Perhaps Amtrak was not running every day back in 2018 between New Orleans and New York.
27:43 is the preview frame, what I came to see, great video. How are you not afraid of the engineer finding you on the train. Thst was scary ride across Lake Pontchartrain. Best wishes
Oh, man, that was some brave recording! The scariest part was when the train was crossing Lake Pontchantrain, and if you had fallen into the water….oh, jeeeeeeeeez……I just hoped you knew how to swim and tread water. And when the train idled at a siding or in one of those Mississippi depots, there was the chance that some railroad bull would have found you and had you hauled off to the local jailhouse. And you even got some great shots while sitting on top of the hopper cars! And when you got off the train in New Orleans, hopefully you didn’t get sideways of some New Orleans Police Department flatfoot asking what are you doing here and the city has laws against vagrancy. This was one of the best videos I’ve ever seen. Not one young man in a hundred could do what you have done. Ever consider a career in filmmaking? I think you could get it done. Some random thoughts.
I like that you blacked out getting off the train. It appears if you continue doing so for getting on and off moving trains, your videos will not be taken--at least I hope so. Incidentally, the video I watched on Rumble was not very high quality, although I set it to be so. Keep up the good work, especially your stunning western rides.
TH-cam will still remove my videos even if the section flagged doesn't contain getting on or off a train, it's just less frequent. Sometimes the they'll flag a clip with just trees passing, remove the video and deny my appeals. Rumble is terrible in terms of the quality they render their videos to so it's a last resort for me.

Hi! New subscriber. Didn't seem like you had a bad ride down to Nawlins. Didn't have any flat wheels under you either. Being this was 6 years ago, are you still able to fit in those holes on the hoppers?
I love the trees, and seethe way people live and have things in there yards, you should not be showing the camera 🎥 angle in the turns, and stop hanging off the side of the trains, ok thanks BigAl California.
Well we all know it’s stupid ,but ,,people get payed being stupid, so put together a (disclaimer, like kids of all ages don’t do as I do, just watch me do it, I’m stupid, ), and we will watch, , thanks BigAl California.

I really like the fact that you take the time to put a tag of where and when, can actually get the feeling of traveling

Nice to see somewhere on the planet where there are blue skies.
Thanks for the Upload, Owen. Hopefully we can get more Viewers over to this Channel. 👍🙏

Hell yeah, my local line. Crazy to see Picayune and the Pearl River bridge from the perspective of the train.
Rode right through my birthplace, good ole Laurel MS. Passed within 1/4 mile of my Mom’s house at about 12:00 clock time (or ~6:05 video time)….cool
This is great artwork.
Picayune is my home town. How cool to see it from a different perspective.
I could be very happy doing that!! Just the wind, the rails, the scenery and No PEOPLE!!!
Good video! I miss Shoestring Hobo so this was an enjoyable find. Wish you could narrate some and show yourself. Good video!

Epic thumbnail
I'm sorry but with all of the recent train derailments I wouldn't risk hopping on a freight train
Rare unless NS

Cool ride. How do you know which one to catch for a ride back? 🙂
