Another great video. It is great to see the old fashioned smokers, equipment and cash registers in place. Having seen this, I am adding this to my Texas bucket list.

I was working for several years in Gonzales and the surrounding areas and drove through Lockhart many times before finally stopping here to sample their brisket and sausage. I just remember them putting my two lbs of brisket in a paper sack, wrapped in butcher's paper and by the time I got to my hotel room in Gonzales, the wonderful grease had soaked through the paper and the smell of the BBQ drove me crazy the whole drive. Bought a loaf of white bread and feasted on the brisket for three days. The sausage was amazing. Highly recommend.

Only in Texas could a restaurant have a open fire on the floor. This looks great!

I've probably eaten there 100 times. When you first walk in you can smell 100 yrs worth of wood smoke. If you want the full 'brisket experience' get it chopped and fatty with the burnt ends mixed in. Back in the late 2000s they had a smoked ribeye that was fork tender. I'd get that and they had iced whole fresh avocados and chilled tomatoes. I'd get all that with a sleeve of saltines and a cold beer for about $12. Love their orange-colored sauce too.

Now this is old-school Texas. Been there a few times back in the day. My parents took me there, back in the 70's or 80's. Last time I was there may have been twenty years ago. Good to know that they are still doing their thing now. Very good BBQ...no frills, but done the right way. 99 yrs and counting, although Austin is growing so fast, we may annex them soon!!

Nice review on a great bbq place, I'm 60 yr old Itishman family rural Kentucky, I can tell I'd get along fine with feller in blue bandana with goatee, you need to move ro Ky. With your wife & open bbq place, I will only eat at Black's & Smitty's in Lockhart

Now you know how I feel when seeing a smoking wood supply greater than mine!! 🤣. I’m still envious of your supply though 🙏Glad you made the trip! Thanks for the video 👍😁

I love Smitty's rings. It's too far to drive to Lockhart. Could someone give me the recipe so I can try to make some at home. Thanks Gil from Grand Prairie Texas
