Great video, thanks for sharing. I LOVE Lockhart. And the locals represent the best of Texas, super kind, and helpful. One of my favorite towns in Texas. ❤ But wondering why you didn't visit the best BBQ in Lockhart? Smittys
Yeah it was a great little town! Somehow Smitty's didn't come up in our research, so we didn't know about it. We'll have to go there next time for sure.
We havent been too Lockhearts but we have been to a few. We have found tho that the ones we have been too have been cold and seems like precooked and reheated. Enjoyed watching you rate the three places tho...thanks Mel and Jay
Well we joined the video for our supper here. We miss the meals we had together in South Padre Island, Still looking for land in Texas found a 4 acre plot just North East of Beaumont Tx. that has elect. water, septic already and a "stocked private pond. Enjoyed your first review.
Really enjoy your travel blog , I tune every sunday ,this time watching all mouth watering food made me grab an ice cold Canadian Beer! Sure could have used some of that Brisket would have gone down well with my Beer ! Safe Travels Regards Mark from Oyama B,C
Just a little note, I always had the seed in the sauerkraut when I was in France as my family are French and German . They gave you the real stuff not the American fake. FYI Joe has found 4 of the DC negative wires in the RV are grounded to the chassis in multiple places causing ground loops. Things are getting better.
Nice! The more authentic sauerkraut the better. It was really tasty. Wow, can't believe all the crazy wiring issues with your rig. It's a good thing Joe is able to fix and replace it all! Glad to hear it's getting better.
Texas definitely has some amazing BBQ. We had incredible BBQ at the San Antonio BBQ cookoff where a couple hundred teams competed for best brisket, sausage, chicken, and dessert.
Lockhart may not have The Best, but there is NO INTELLIGENT DISCUSSION without starting at Lockhart's main trio and at least 2 more 'others' (they're like Avis - they try harder). "Kreuz" is pronounced "Kr I tz" like "Yikes" with a TZ ending.
I'm sorry you didn't try Smitty's Market. (I've never tried the new kids' version...) When you arrive from the north (from Austin), Smitty's has a large, vertical wall with MARKET written on it.
TBH all 3 looked totally underwhelming! Having lived in AB for over 30 years, i have high expectations for BBQ. That didn’t look like it! And the presentation on the icky looking trays…..yeah no!

Great to see some Canadian thoughts on TX BBQ! 😃
Thanks!
great review ! I will be in lockhart in 2 weeks and this helps a lot ! i only have a few hours there, for me it will be smittys, blacks and kruez !
Enjoy! We really loved Keuez and are sad to have missed out on Smitty's. We keep hearing great things from people about it.
Yessss! Kreuz is the way to go. Me and my family live in San Antonio and drive the hour just to eat there a lot of times.
That's awesome! Their brisket was top notch.
Yes, we do have the best BBQ!! 😊
We definitely agree! 😊
SOUTH PADRE will be under Hurricane watch till about the first of December . While there try Vera's in Brownsville for Barbacoa.
Great tip, thanks!

That doesn't sound nice at all. BBQ is definitely best served hot in our opinion.
Gotta get some Lockhart BBQ but preferably Black's, Smitty's and Kruez
Always enjoy your channel with the information you always give !! Remember BS & BK & BC !!
As a local Texan, your reviews are spot on. You need to try the cream corn next time . As for a drink menu, duh sweet tea. JK
Good tip. We avoided the cream corn this time because we thought it would be sweet and we don't typically like to mix sweet and savory dishes.
@@HomeARoam got it and I understand. We like Kreuz poblano cream corn that is not to sweet.
Ate at Kruez a couple of years ago and love it. Also Saltlick in Driftwood.
Thanks for the suggestion. We'll scope that one out next time we're in the area!

Wow, sounds like a nice bit of land. Glad you didn't have to watch all that BBQ without a meal of your own 😃😅
You have to try the beef rib at either of the Blacks and the prime rib at Smitty's. Smitty's also makes some great sausage.
Thanks! We'll have to hit them up then next time we're down there!

Thanks Mark! We love hearing feedback from folks. Glad to hear that you are enjoying our videos. Thanks for taking time to comment.

Y'all didn't even include Chisholm trail bbq smh. That's great Lockhart Texas BBQ.
Oh no we missed a great one!? Thanks for letting us know. Next time we'll be sure to hit them up.
I live on South Padre Island TX welcome to TEXAS
Thanks! Great place to live. So close to the beach!
You guys missed out by not going to Smitty’s! I’ve lived in these parts for quite a while and in my humble opinion, Smitty’s is the best in Lockhart…
Aww, sad to have missed it. Next time!
Thanks for the public service announcement. I'm sure Texas does have great BBQ, but maybe just not there. 😁
Texas definitely has some amazing BBQ. We had incredible BBQ at the San Antonio BBQ cookoff where a couple hundred teams competed for best brisket, sausage, chicken, and dessert.
Yes, Lockhart has the best BBQ anywhere
We ate so much that we had salads for the following days after leaving 😆
Of course Lockhart has the best BBQ in Texas
You know it! 😋
Now I want smoked meat! 😂
Time to break out that BBQ!

Also, I hope someone told you that briskets have a fatty "moist" end and a lean (dry) end.
By the way, Elgin (30 miles east of Austin) is BBQ Sausage Capitol.
Nobody told us this! Now we know what to order next time. Thanks for sharing! 🙏
Adding this to our list for next time!

You must have had some amazing BBQ in AB! Tell us your favorite spots!
And jalapeño is pronounced with a “pen” in the middle
Thanks for the correction 😁
Close but no cigar , too southern .
No
Where then? 😀
terry blacks is a knockoff. of the original Blacks BBQ
Yes, apparently a family feud resulted in the second brand opening up.
