Ηρακλειά, Αμοργός and all this small islands are hidden gems !!! Amorgos in the first 3 weeks of September is Heaven on Earth...you can discover your self all over again...away from everything.... going to the beach, eating fresh fish, meeting great people and drinking ouzo.. This is true holiday in Paradise.
The good thing about Greek islands is that they are so many that always will some left unspoiled for travellers. I used the term "travellers" intentionally because "tourists" is an other breed ... They follow trends and pack like sardines in the most known. This real vacation , traveller' s vacation which recharges your batteries and justifies a 2000 miles trip ....😊😊🇬🇷😊😊
i am not a beach person but man, i would plunge into that acqua water in a heartbeat! how lucky you are to be able to hop around to all these gorgeous islands. and the food - drool!
We visited the small kiklades second week of june and we loved the place (3 days in koufonissia, 2 days in schinoussa and 2 days in Iraklia). It was a shock when we arrived in crowded Naxos after staying in such small Íslands. Í love your vidéos travelling to my beloved greek Íslands.
The little shop "MELISSA" is the all-in-one place for the locals. It is minimarket, kafeneion, ferry ticket office and more. Locals also come their to pick up bread they have ordered. There used to be a bakery on Iraklia but only half of the year, the baker left in 2022 and didn't come back. The restaurant Akathi has probably the best zuchini ball of all Greece. The restaurant opens with Easter and closes early October. It's owned by an elderly couple who live permanently on Irakleia. The funny thing is that their son (who probably served you) is a qualified cook who worked in Paris and on Santorini but in Akanthi he is not allowed to cook by his mother. It's her kitchen she says and she cooks in it 😃
Melissa was like city hall! That is a great story about Akathi. They had many waiters so not sure if I had the son. The briam was the best I have ever had!
Wow, what a beautiful place to enjoy true relaxation. Delicious food, relaxing beach and no crowds…this is where I would like to vacation. Thank you Tiffany for showing us this island. I hope you had a wonderful time.
Your content is amazing, you become more greek every year (kalimera, the hat, afternoon naps, the quiet remote places you visit) 😊. I love what you do ❤
It is nice to see Iraklia. In the late 80th and 90th I have been there 3 times. We stayed at Livadi and camped on the beach. By then there where one two or tree restaurants. The boat Skopelitis was half as big by then. I think I am going back next year.
I found your channel fairly recently, and I like the small details that you provide about each place you visit, how to get there, where to eat, what to see, and so on. Keep it up.
The memories that your filmmaking is stirring up... if only there was a way to transmit the smells as well! If you happen to find a taverna offering stuffed zucchini flowers go for it before it runs out. It is an amazing vegetarian Cretan / island dish that is difficult to prepare in large quantities and on a daily basis. I have already started wondering which island the "mermaid" is going to appear on next week. Enjoy!
@@agirlandherpassport Yes , there were only a few places to stay and hardly any people or cars , but I met a lady from Devon UK and we have been friends ever since ..
The answer to your challenge @errolab3872 is to travel early May or late September. The last few years I had a splendid time on Agathonissi, Irakleia, Fourni, Donoussa, Sikinos to name just a few.
Great video, Tiffany! I was in Iraklia last summer (in the same studios as you) and you are spot on! Such a serene little island, with crystal clear waters, amazing food and mesmerizing sunsets!

Koufonisia, donousa&amorgos and you can because of the every day ferry boat express skopelitis with main base is katapola amorgos!!! If you go in amorgos check the monastery of hozoviotisa virgin Mary it's Greek orthodox the view is the best and the hospitality is great!!! Have a great time everywhere!!!!
@agirlandherpassport Sorry not sure if you saw my question above about the Peloponnese Peninsula, but I also wondered if you were able to find out where the people who live on Iraklia get their groceries? Naxos?
@@agirlandherpassport That's also a nice island. I did a hike up to the abandoned village with a castle on top. I have a video coming up later this week about that.
Omg I booked to go there with Koufonisia and then cancelled Iraklia. 😢Next time. My three month Greece trip is almost ending. 8 more days. I am a bit homesick though 😂 Glad you’re feeling better!
Apparently the locals on the small islands order their groceries from the large supermarkets on Naxos and get them delivered on the ferry. When I was on Iraklia about 20 years ago or more I only found one proper taverna. There was another one that was only serving a few dishes and no meat and some small places that I wasn't sure whether they were serving food or not. I had to have a shower and get dressed by candlelight one night as there had been a power failure. It's obviously developed a lot since then. I see on your video that there is a bus stop - that must mean there is a bus now.
