In the old, old days and for large and less economical families margarine and lard were affordable, and butter was used sparingly to eat finished bake. Also, yeast was added in recent years, especially in bakeries.
Also, if after boiling the salt fish, you still find it salty,strain off all the water, in a separate bowl with warm water add some brown sugar to the water, put in the drain salt fish and squeeze out the water. Then place in a colander under running tap water and squeeze. Tried and Tested. No Salt Version.
