    Nice roast bakes.... 🇱🇨..... Roti in St.lucia has curry chicken or other meats and irish potatoes wrapped in a flat dough. Dhal has split peas and saltfish wrapped in dough which is fried.

    I know this this is my bake hand for my children , something that traveled to Canada, 2018 I getting one of this at my old residence apartment dwelling in Montreal Qc . I made this mostly every morning for my children's breadfast and light lunches to take along to schools.
    My mother she boast about me making it.
    This is my hand.
    My children enjoy it best with table magarine hot , and cheese when it is settle (cold).

    In Trini we call that Roast Bake. But my question is, do I absolutely have to Dutch Pot to get this outcome or can I use any wide pot? Also, would All purpose Flour work just as good or does it absolutely have to be Plain Flour? I get major anxiety when it comes to Flour an trying to knead dough etc 😢.

      A tawa with deep pot cover also works ... Guyanese style
      I also do it in the oven on a flat sheet and turn it to get the effect.

    • @TERRIANNSKITCHEN
      @TERRIANNSKITCHEN  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      SimplySania We call this Roti in St.Lucia and the shells that go with the meat inside are called “Dahl Pouri”... I’ll make a separate video on that soon :) Thanks for watching!

      TERRI-ANN'S KITCHEN so I was born in St. Lucia and left when I was 10. So forgive me because now you have me questioning my whole life lol. So what you just made my family called bake woti (in patois). Then there was fried bakes in oil. What they called Dahl was like an empanada stuffed with split peas in the middle. Then roti would look like a burrito. They would just call the outside roti shell. Now I’m wondering if our small Saint Lucia people call things differently if you’re from different parts or have I been lied to all my life. Anyways I love what you’re doing because our food is AMAZING AND I’m happy you share it with the world.

      There are several types of rotis, the two most common ones used to wrap stews and curries are:- Paratha/oil roti/buss-up-shot and the other with split peas filling is Dhalpuri. What's in this video is what some in other Caribbean countries call Sada roti. Nonetheless, it's all delicious and ends up in the same place. :D

    Hi! Thank you for showing this method ! Did you have the pot on low heat the whole time?

    • @TERRIANNSKITCHEN
      @TERRIANNSKITCHEN  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ayshea Gordon yes I did as a higher heat causes it to burn and not cook inside properly :)
