@guy c The tool in a lathe is made of tungsten carbide. He used steel core bullets, that's enough.
@guy c a bullet completely out of tungsten wouldn't grip the rifling, it would rather wear it out extremely quick, you need a softer jacket... and the right compositioned and treated tungsten carbide.
@guy c i am not an engineer, but i think it's possible. The projectile has to be at least a bit smaller in diameter than the bore. For example the german 75mm guns in ww2 had 75mm bores, the projectiles were 74.5mm and the driving bands ~76.5mm. The 88mm was 87,6mm... you get the point. something soft has to grip the rifling, if the projectile is too hard for that.

Hey Matt, Just curious, but would the trays be able to stop the bullet with less trays if they were not spaced out and stacked tight?

I'm curious. There's supposedly a spaced armor advantage at times. But with mild materials, I'm not sure.
I think that with the spacing it helped stop, cuz if they were packed the shock would travel through all in one hit instead of the air time slowing and turning it. (would prob stop the smaller rounds better but the 50 I think would go through) idk though I'm not a pro at this lol
