    If you have some kind of contact with Google, maybe you can suggest a better implementation of the Eraser tool that would ACTUALLY be good. Instead of filling space from removed objects with AI, they should check similar photos first. When you make a bunch of photos, you usually already have real information about what's behind a person. That should actually be quite simple and look waaay better than it does now.
    It could even be a mode in the camera app where you make photos until all the people disappear, piece by piece, and then you bring back only who you want in the frame, or something like that.

    • @lahma69
      @lahma69 ปีที่แล้ว +25

      I think calling what you're describing "simple" is a bit of a misnomer.. Training AI models requires a significant amount of data input. Using a couple of photos on your phone to train a unique model for a single environment just doesn't seem viable.

    • @antonshynkaretskyi4077
      @antonshynkaretskyi4077 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@lahma69 You don't need new models for recognition, they already exist. Gluing frames together is simple and already exists too, for example when you make a panorama photo with multiple shots. So pasting a piece of photo into another similar photo should actually be simple

    • @prof2k
      @prof2k ปีที่แล้ว

      You are right Anton. I thought about this. However, while it seems easy conceptually, trust me, it can be incredibly hard to implement. This differs because the system is not trying to use generate new pixels. It's trying to fill the space with it's understanding of the environment which it gets from clues in other pictures from the camera. That will require a different system to track the environment and then generate things based on that. Keep in mind that current AI models are intrinsically undeterministic and that will need to be overcomed. There's also certainly going to a lot of edge cases to cover.
      I know it's certainly something that can be implemented in a couple of months (with a lot of effort) but because of the overhead of creating a significantly different system for just this, it'll probably take years for the team to eventually get to it. Who knows, I could be wrong and it ships with the next 1-2 versions. However, it's a significantly different problem and will need some innovation to implement.

    Rocking the pixel 6a and using these features all the time. I get the best reactions on my Instagram. Anyways, Dave love your setup and the lighting. Just a little thing that i could hear the room eco through my earplugs and just a tad bit irritating. I don't know if everyone could notice it. But i guess a little bit of sound treatment would be good. But who am I to complain. Love your videos. Precise and clean.

    Some constructive criticism :
    Dave has really let his foot off the gas. Used to be we'd get amazing reviews of both obscure laptops and phones as well as flagships much more frequently.
    Nowadays it's a haphazard video every week and the content is just not interesting and feels like a filler in between times of not posting.
    Personally I can't believe he didn't get his hands on the amazing foldables coming out of China, never mind the pixel fold which he talked about briefly but never reviewed.
    I hope this trend reverses cuz I don't see myself or others stay subbed to the Chan at this rate

    Since you're talking about the Google Photos app specifically, I have to mention one inexplicably annoying thing about it:
    The fact that by default, it categorizes every photo from every source under one really random Camera Roll, when the pictures are clearly saved at different destination folders in the phone's storage, Camera, Facebook (Especially Annoying), WhatsApp, Screenshots, Downloads, even Google Drive pictures from older phones, you name it, it is all grouped under "Camera Roll", and not to mention that in doing so, it actually takes up all the quota of your cloud storage as well.
    Albums are a thing but it's different than categories by folders or destinations in the phone's directory, and again you would actually have to browse through that entire clusterf*** of files from every source known to mankind to even create those albums.
    Honestly that alone forced me to download a 3rd party Gallery app just so I can make my life so much easier in that regard.
    I'm no developer but I can't imagine fixing that would be that difficult, it's plagued the thing ever since it came out.

    Sponsored by....Google? That's a tough one. I'm all for a creator getting paid (especially you, Dave; i feel like the quality of your content far exceeds the size of your channel, which is far from 'small;' nonetheless i think you still don't quite get the credit you deserve), but it's a little tough when the creator reviews products from that company (amongst others, of course) for a living. Now, I trust Dave2D. I know this isn't a review, and I also know for sure this one sponsored piece would do nothing to slant your views of Google phones in the future. I am just saying, I hope this is a one off. Once that doubts seeps in (see Lew's video counts the past 12 months; that channel is going down, fast, and it's due to all of his content being sponsored by the company whose product he's reviewing), it's tough to come back. I don't want that to happen to this channel. This channel is too important, and selfishly, i enjoy it too much.

    • @NineteenEightyFive
      @NineteenEightyFive ปีที่แล้ว

      A reviewer being given review units doesn't make that a sponsored video so I'm not sure what you're talking about. The majority of his videos aren't sponsored by the company he's reviewing.
