Google Pixel 7: Better than Pixel 8 in 2023? Pixel 7 Battery and Performance

  • A lot has changed for me after Pixel 4a and as everything has a story to tell this one is about Pixel 7. But, where I am coming from pixel 4a to pixel 7, I feel a huge difference in day-to-day usage. I am missing the form factor of Pixel 4a and 3 years with Pixel 4a was worth every penny. But the fact is that pixel 7 has enhanced my experience to a different level.

I have also upgraded to Pixel 7 from my 4a on this BBD. I would agree with you on a lot of things. Although I miss the form factor of 4a which I used for almost 3 years, I can say that Pixel 7 has definitely enhanced my Pixel experience.

What I have found is if you switch the mobile data to LTE over 5G, a lot of the efficiency issues go away. I have had all 3 generations of Tensor Pixels and this is how I have used them all.

@@momin1491 That's also the only thing I'm not quite satisfied about my pixel 7. I had a pixel 3, then Sony Xperia One II, battery life was OK at first, and of course it also become terrible after one or two years. And now Pixel 7, battery life was "good I guess?" at first. Then at most a year later, it became "just OK".
If I'm travelling and want to take picture I would definitely bring a power bank, or I risk not being able to use my phone at night.
I really wish there's a phone that I can just heavily use it without worrying about battery life, like having 30 hours of screen on time. Then I know after 2 3 year, it would still have 15 hours of screen on time

I got a Pixel 7 when my Pixel 4A's EoL approached, my observations of around half a year usage:
The lack of headphone jack hurts.
I still push my finger on the back for fingeprints by habit.
The camera bar gathers dust and dirt easily.
Overheating was a literal pain in the early days, now it's not a problem.
You're right about it guessing your thoughts. The newest update introduced a suggestion to enable Wi-Fi calling (I know it existed before) but I toggled it since the phone recommended it. It's a lifechanger.
The photo editing features like the smart eraser are fun party tricks.
It has some seriously loud speakers.
For quick photo taking: pull out of pocket, doublepress power button, and your're good to go, it's noticeably faster than the 4A where the photo app lagged just enough for the subject of the photo to disappear.
Overall for Pixel users I recommend it. It got over it's teething problems and is now a stable and perfectly usable phone with some nice "AI" gimmicks.

Overheating during video recording/video call has been an issue since original pixel. Phone becomes unusable after 20 minutes of camera usage. I have used a pixel 2 before and it always had overheating issue during video call. Otherwise the phone is great especially the software, iphones are too bland and other android phones don't really use all the smart features but pixel always shines in this area. My favorite feature is that it can detect songs playing in the background without you doing anything.

Even if the pixel 8 price drops it will be around 55k to 60k. Pixel 7 with exchange offers on Flipkart will cost less than 30k. Pixel 7 is more value for money currently but Pixel 8 is 10 to 20 percent better than the pixel 7 overall. In the same range as pixel 8 you can also look for OnePlus 11 or OnePlus 12 (upcoming with snapdragon gen 3).From a long term perspective on OnePlus's hardware is better than pixel 8.If you love software Pixel is a better choice.I hope this will help you to decide better.👍

I regret buying a GOOGLE Product. I won't recommend pixel devices to anyone. Just got the pixel 7 on 13th July 2024 and my device has a green tint issue from the very first day. After contacting flipkart about the issue they asked me to got to the service centre where the service advisor told me that they'll be sending the phone to Noida and the whole process would take around 15days. My point here is that It is not mentioned anywhere on flipkart or google that their service would take these many days. Pathetic service by google and flipkart.
Won't recommend anyone to buy a pixel device. Rather go for Apple if you need better after sales service in future.

As a heavily disappointed Google Pixel 7 Pro user I won't recommend Pixels to anyone because of the very same reasons the OP mentioned here. Come on a 75K phone won't work properly on 5G and heats up like a hotbox even when doing basic Instagram surfing. Phone temperature exceeding notifications are more than my regular notifications. So, you can imagine my situation here. BTW I am not even a heavy user. Just a casual user with occasional Camera user. That's it. But Pixel 7 Pro not even doing those basic tasks without making me frustrated. So a BIG NO for pixels from my end. Except Camera that too excluding Videos, this phone is waste of money I say. Just for pure hard core Pixel fans.

      @wasifchowdhury6913 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

Just because your country doesn't have it doesn't mean you can't say it's not a phone for everybody you are paying for a feature. It's the equivalent as paying for $120 Hertz on a pixel 7 pro and there's no way in the software to enable it then. What's the point of paying for this? Google has these issues but they never choose to address to which makes me pissed off. They use the old s***** Samsung modem that causes the phone to overheat and drain battery. A crappy tensorship set which sucks and has the same issues with slight improvements every year which makes no sense. And lastly, they're charging $1,000 now for the pixel 8 pro in the US and other countries when the experience is not on par compared to other flagships that cost around $1,000@@Marko-qe1qs
