  • I get asked this 1000 times a month! Seriously lol! So many people go hey I have a AF80 Crank I just bought and since it's 40 mm stroke............. What? how you know it's 40mm stroke exactly? Well it says af80........ Sigh!
    What people don't understand is the Rod stamp is just a value giving to the rod! Not to crank stroke! Has zero to do with rod stroke! So I hope this video clears up some of the BS out there posted by 100s of people over and over! It is bad info passed on to the next person that sends it along the chain. I see so many trying to make a nice build and then realize there stroke length is way off and they can't figure out why!
    when ever you buy a crank You need to look At (stroke Length) not rod stamp! There is so many 36 and 38mm cranks out there with rods you all think makes it 40mm stroke! You buy them and don't even realize you just bought the same crank you thought you upgraded as a result!
    So I hope this video clears up some of the common misconceptions out there!

    Hold up all these two strokes are different especially the Zeba right out the box no breaking I'm flying on it. Zl40mm the engine you have to break it in or the bearings in the bottom goes bad!! Chinese very big lot of factories different technicians stamp the rod with the name initials just like our rDM guy in Pittsburgh. Question if all 2-stroke are the same y is Zeba 80 $219 on eBay and all the engines are cheaper as you were

      Some of the brands! Actually clean ports! Balance cranks to 70% and use better brands of bearings! Ms 460 I have has 500$ bearings in it alone! so depends whole makes what and where it comes from. some of the castings are made with Ceramic mold! Cheaper ones with sand molds! You can tell when casting is full and crisp it's a ceramic casting. Sand castings normally look like missing parts and imperfections. One cost 2X more to make! Some are port matched out of the box for 200$ ! some come with what every they tossed in the motor you bought off ebay for 85$ lol! Normally ones sell for 200$ will warranty parts for a bit if one fails! Ebay one your back on ebay buying the parts lol!

      @@BuildBreakFix yes man my first bill was one of those cheap engine ran for 6 months and died 2016. then I met Pete 2017 he told me about Zeba 80 engines never bought a cheap engine again. That's all they do sell cheap engines on eBay. Never had to open one of my Zeba since 2017 when I bought them. Good video for the rookies though

    Thanks for the video. Im heavily considering turning my YD100 to a Phantom 85, and was told that I need an af80 crank, cause it uses a 12mm wrist pin and its the same stroke and rod length. Now I know that's BS.

      @Matthew-wj8cm ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Phantom doesn't need 40mm stroke. My specimen had space between the bottom of the piston at bdc and the port. I tělové both gaskets and added silikone and there's still space. Ech cylinder is different

    • @BuildBreakFix
      @BuildBreakFix  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Rod you need is a zmn100 rod which is for 12mm wrist pin. Phantom works best with 36 to 38mm strokes actually! Since it copies ms380 top end (More so toward 36mm stroke side) Af80 rods are sold normally on 38mm to 40mm cranks but 40mm stroke is not ideal for a phantom85! Yd100 bottom half is actually 4mm deck height higher then phantom 85 bottom half. Make sure you deck it!

    Hello,
    my top and bottom needle bearing of rod broke... yeah.. china doll crap balanced myself.. Did 1000+ km but then I swapped to minarelli 70cc.. maybe 70 km...
    Do you know there is any stronger needle bearings for this popular china 40mm stroke rod? There is little information on the internet. Is there any scooters crankshaft that is "easy" to modify? Im form Poland (EU) so the prices are really crazy, new crankshaft from china 45$, new engine form Germany 70$ wtf xd
    If you have some time please advise.

      In this videos Description You will see these two video points linked! Explains each sized bearing for every kind of build! Crank pin bearing always same size! The wrist pin bearing is not! But lists ever one in start of each section! Many companies make these bearings! Matter knowing the size you need!

    All the replacement cranks i have found on Amazon never have the Stroke length so even if it says zl40mm it might not be a 40mm Stroke crank

    • @BuildBreakFix
      @BuildBreakFix  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Rod stamp is just a weight marker. Crank webs determine the stroke length. 99% of the cranks are 38mm. 40 and 45 are hard to find
