    Well, Dad, it looks like you have that trick seat critter figured- kudos, I haven't seen or even heard of one of those "JC Whitney" universal kits in years- great call! Title it with the paper on the '57 and you should have no trouble with no seat belts. I would install a lap belt set, at a minimum- your choice as head mechanic! And take no guff from that Joffrey fella- if you pay for the paint, it's your decision what color it is- an ancient hot rodding tradition when I was bending wrenches! I'm here till this one rolls sweetly down the street. Much to be said for using a late model and much newer complete chassis under the old girl! FR

      We are going to make a small hidden dash behind the glove box. We are going to mount the 4x4 switch and radio in there to hid them. We are keeping the same Tcm and ecm so we should just have to wire it in.

      You may want to rethink putting anything in glove box. I believe your first video you showed aftermarket vintage air/heat unit. If it’s like mine you will not have room behind glove box. You actually will loose your glove box.

    Your dad has devised a really cool way to fix the seat issue. Doing anything like this, teaches a LOT of fab work. There ARE NO RULES anybody gets to follow. Anybody thats built any vehicle before can attest to doing exactly what hes done. If it dont fit, make it fit. Adjustments are the norm. Yeah, hes shaky on videography but I aint worried about the "looks." He's well informed and he just showed me a ton of stuff I never thought of. Thats the fun of watching these types of content. Anybody can make a before amd after type of video. The whole thing is help somebody get past their hurdles. Its the seeing it happen that helps others understand its possible. A little thoughy happens to go a LOOOOOONNNNNNNNGGGGGGGG way. When you come across something, somebody knows how to fix it. If its out of your box, ask.

    As to the seat l thought a 60 40 split seat would work better as only the driverside seat is powered .

    I noticed the gap between the front clip and the cab in the last video, and almost suggested moving the cab forward. In the video, with the gap, the wheels looked pretty close to center. I immediately remembered the bed being close to the cab. Good for looks, but, when I saw that, and then later, the cab gap, I knew that if it were me, I would move the cab forward, and let the gap be between the bed and cab. I say that because I had an old ugly truck I pieced together from three different trucks, and had an issue with the bed/cab. This was no serious rock crawler by any means, and I never got overly carried away trying to pretend that it was. That said, I still did occasionally twist 'er up a little bit, and I had the bed flex and get into the cab. Granted, it was all square body stuff, and the front bed corners kind of "wrap" to the cab, but, I thought I had plenty of a gap, but another inch or so would have easily gave me clearance. Unless you just really can't live with it, I'd leave the gap between the cab and bed, just in case you get a little more carried away than planed if you do take it off road... Well, WHEN, because we know you're going to take it out to play. 😆

    • @joffreyotg
      @joffreyotg  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      After we stopped rolling we were looking at the gaps and we really came to the same conclusions. That’s why we decided to bite the bullet and move the brackets. It really helped a lot of issues we were going to have with radiator clearance as well. Overall it was the right choice. Next time say something though! We need all the help we can get! Lol. Thanks for watching!

    I think the main thing I find myself missing in this project is the loss of a manual transmission.
    Those motors might burn out moving a seat that is more than 2x the size they were originally designed for.

    • @bobstitzenberger1834
      @bobstitzenberger1834 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Well we talked about going manual. But everything is already installed as it sits. We have plenty of manual trucks and cars so we can row gears if we want to. So why change what already works in the chassis. Plus my mom will end up driving this truck a bit seeing as we stole her car. So we left it easy for her as well.

    I wonder if moving the cab mount forward is going to mess with the fenders and core support, or if you took that into account and fixed it somehow.

    • @joffreyotg
      @joffreyotg  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So moving the cab forward actually helped us in many ways. We had enough slop in the front bracket where we didn’t have to modify that. However by moving the cab the big thing we fixed was to make room for the radiator we are going to use. It now has clearance from the stock fan. It was really really tight before we moved everything about 1-1/2 it also makes the front tire sit in the center of the wheel well.
