Was literally listening to Freebird to ring in the New Year and caught a whiff of the true nature of the bass line and had to find an isolated track. Its as fun to listen to as the wailing guitars. Ive heard this song i don't know how many hundreds of times and never really caught the bass line like this time. 😂😂😂
Everybody loves the guitar solo (including me) but as a bassist I always knew there was a bass line deep under carrying everything and I was damn right!!! congrats you shred that bass!!
Dude best 4 minutes of musicianship ever. These guys were in their twenties when they wrote this, this bass line alone is so amazing. Leon was a phenomenal bassist and each member was just so talented
Awesome cover the very last creciendo when your playing high and it whips back into the main solo in the studio mix is my favorite but nevertheless bravo and it’s infinitely better than my playing!!!…. For now ;)
One tip I can give you is if you are having difficulties playing fast lines you can angle down your pick so you’ll have less contact surface, that’ll change your sound but it will be easier to play.
I'd mention another movie where this song (the solo part actually) works even better than in Kingsman. It's Forrest Gump. That scene when Jenny wants be a 'free bird', almost comitting suicide. Maybe the most dramatic bit of that great movie. th-cam.com/video/pTSiQCYQuvA/w-d-xo.html
When playing fast with a pick, give your pick an angle, it will help playing faster, it will change the sound but it will be easier to do that lick@@hapukurk
I’m listening on my phone (so that might be the problem) but I can’t hear any bass. Turn the music down and your amp up. I clicked to hear the bass line.
I forgot how driving this bass line is!
Yeah never knew before I heard the isolated track, pretty amazing stuff going underneath the wall of guitars solos.
It's a crime that such a wonderful bass line wasn't given its proper glory in such a great song, absolutely wonderful playing. 👑
🙏
A bassline that's as good as the guitar solo but doesn't get enough credit for that. Brilliant playing!!
Thanks a lot 🙏
Badass bassline

It was Ed King on bass
Wow... Glad I came looking for a free bird bass cover and found you. Such an underrated bass line ❤
Everyone talks about the lead guitar. But the bass riffs are so much more technical
Yes, this one is a good challenge.
What a masterpiece this song is, it’s like Bach, complete madness in notes!
Such a great driving groove with a ton of subtle nuisances. Leon was a beast!
Ed King played bass on this
Playing with a pick makes all that much better
Amazing bass cover! Thank you so much for the performance and transcription.

Well done mate! Thanks for this, I'm into fingerstyle and picking is very new for me, any tips for using a pick?

@@audioguru67BassCover Thank you ❤️❤️
