Now that Fire and Earth are at peace, they can build cities like this. Heat, mining, masonry, Metalbending, they can stamp out buildings way faster than normal people.

I love how Korra is the opposite of Aang in a lot of ways: Aang started out a master of air and had to learn the others, Korra started as a master of all the elements but air. He was an easy-going monk, she's an impatient hothead. He was a peacekeeper fighting a war, she's a warrior in a time of peace. I'm glad they wrote her like this instead of just making another Aang.
Unpopular opinion, I absolutely adore ATLA for its nostalgic value it has for me. But personally I prefer Korra, I love the time period, music, worldbuilding, architecture. And I think it really cool to see stuff like lightning and metal bending more saturated in a more modern world. Its like watching ur kid grown up I feel. You're going to love this. (The lightning bending shouldn't really be a spoiler since you watch ahead and we can see mako at the powerplant)
I'm very plot driven so I'll always prefer ATLA with its planned 3 seasons storyline and its lack of flaws to TLoK but I still absolutely love TLoK anyway. TLoK stumbles sometimes but it's because it tends to be more ambitious than ATLA. And yeah the worldbuilding is just great. I also like Korra as a protagonist, she has a better arc than Aang imo.
Man, I love how flawed a person Korra is from the getgo here. It makes for a very fascinating and fresh look at a blossoming Avatar after the one we've seen from the previous series. She's a prodigy skill wise, and yet... very much in need of perspective and direction spiritually.
Also- TENZIN!! My absolute favorite character from this series, I love him a lot ahahah. If I had a nickle for every time J.K. Simmons voice acted a favorite character in a show, I'd have two nickles- which isn't a lot I guess, but really does speak to his VA prowess. His voice just draws me in.
@@Kryptomiits okay to compare, as long as you dont expect it to be atla 2.0. It is it's own entity, and the creators make that clear. Comparison can be the thief of joy.

Some extra info it's been 70 years from Avatar to Korra, and Korra was pretty much locked in a compound, and sheltered her entire life unlike the Avatar's before her who travelled the world. Korra gets some great character development, and she's honestly my favorite character. I think she's very relatable.
One thing to remember about this show. Season 1 was supposed to be it. It was planned as a limited series BUT then it did well and Nick ordered 2 more seasons. Season 2 viewership did meh so Nick gave them one more season and bc of season 3's numbers, they ordered one more halfway through season 3. Some things may feel finite or like they're progressing quickly and you can blame network executives for all of it
The multiple bison thing isn't a retcon, they find a herd of bison in the comics. (I hope it's not too much of a spoiler since you already know about the bison.)
I'm glad you're enjoying the show, you hit on one of the main themes around finding balance in the changes in culture balancing. The atla cameos are not often, but when they happen they have an impact on the story and it makes me appreciate them more. I love that Katara is the one encouraging Korra to leave, just like her grandmother did for her and Sokka.
Korra my favorite avatar!💙 Her journey and and development is for me one of the best in animation. I love her more than I love ATLA because she is imperfect but she learn and change in every book. Count me in for this journey 💙✨
I'm one of those who don't like LOK very much but your reactions to ATLA were very special and I'm excited for you to jump back into this universe so I'll do my best to stay positive and not ruin it for you. I do think you should form your own opinion. Plus, this first season is my favorite from LOK. Great to have you back!
Welcome to Korra! I have such a fond place in my heart for this show, and I truly hope you love it. I don't want you to be spoiled about the story, but I would recommend having either a mod or someone you know who has seen the show to keep you informed about the wild production BS Nickelodeon put the creators through along the way. It puts a lot of the show's perceived shortcomings into perspective, if that makes sense
LoK builds on the ATLA lore in an interesting way, with some varrying success but it’s overall a good exploration of the world. I’m excited to see your reactions to things. Also… and I have no basis for this, but I think Republic City is closer to San Francisco than NYC.
First 2 episodes introduce you to 4 of my top 5 characters. 1. Mako named after Iroh's voice actor & voiced by Bud Bundy from Married with Children. 2. You have to wait for book 3. 3. Amon voiced by Steven Blum the voice of Wolverine in multiple marvel animated films, series, & video games, also does a lot of English dub for a lot of anime including multiple characters in Naruto one of which is Orochimaru, and is the voice of Zeb in Star Wars Rebels & in the Mandalorian. 4. Lin voiced by Mindy Sterling aka Frau from the Austin Powers movies. And 5. Bolin.
If I am not mistaken Appa was the last sky bison from like... a distinct species? And the new ones were domesticated after war and are diffrent - you can see thier shapes are diffrent like horns and faces... So yeah
"I'm the avatar! You gotta deal with it!" was the creative team giving the middle finger to Nickelodeon. Nickelodeon has been a constant thorn in this shows side right from the start, never believing a female avatar show would ever be successful. This was also supposed to be a one season show, but they kept springing new seasons at the last minute, so dont be surprised if things seem rushed.
22:20 I too thought that sounded like a very basic rule for a fan not to know about, yeah. Mako could have quickly gone over the most important rules before the match instead of snap at her, though 😅
The technology leap was so jarring to me at first! I think I didn’t really get into the groove of enjoying the series until the end of this first arc. It’s really it’s own separate story than ATLA I agree, the references back to the OG series aren’t pervasive if I remember correctly. I’m excited to see what you think moving forward! You def hit the nail on the head with your conclusion, im so glad you are going in with a positive outlook!
The tech jump was not something I was expecting at all, but it really makes sense when you think about how many more resources can go to life improvement vs war. Although, war does sometimes breed technological advancements. Anyway, thanks a ton for watching!!! 💜
Btw for every "rare" bending style that you end up seeing more of in Korra than in ATLA, theres an explanation in the comics. A lot of haters get upset with the show because these special bending techniques arent rare anymore, these people never read the comics that explained why these techniques are no longer as rare.

Ever is back on The Avatar Journey 🥳🥳🥳! Korra is a bit underrated in my opinion. It´s not as consistent writing as ATLA but when you don´t compare it to ATLA it´s a pretty good show of it´s own. I hope you had a lot of fun so far with season 1. Can´t wait to see you react to season 3, that´s a peak of this show for sure.

Also (POSSIBLE SPOILER, at least for your theories right now): my man really went through all of The Owl House and still expects an important character to be predestined or related by blood.

Very sad that Sokka had to die before this series started, especially since it wasnt in the comics. Somewhat spoilerly implications below We never really find out what happened to Sokka, but I have a theory that I cant mention yet.

Yes it is a retcon to the Bison but the way how I rationalize it is that they never call them Sky Bison, they call them Air Bison. The colors for the Air Bison are a tad more warm than the Sky Bison. They give an explanation for why they are around in season 2 but yeah I rationally it as a different breed. They are all Flying Bison, Appa was just the last Sky Bison.
If you dont mind a shutdown to a thought Zuko’s Daughter is firelord. Bolin n Mako are new characters n aren’t related to anyone you know. Gotta match up the ages for characters. The kids would be between 50s-60s in age. Cus our core cast from the previous show would be 70s-80s almost 90s now.
You gotta ignore all the Korra haters. This is a great show. There's not as much of a through line since the show kept getting unexpectedly renewed (the writers didn't realize they were getting four seasons) and season 2 had some weak writing and had to bring in a different animation studio (which you might or might not notice) but there are definitely parts that hit as hard as ATLA. Also, the music is awesome.
while yes Korra has faults almost all of them were caused by nickelodeon if you can get through the first half of season 2 youll be through the absolute worse of it, season 2 is where it lags the most over all, but just like the great divide it has its place and it is a must watch for atleast your first watch through :3 its not all bad its just the most lacking season of korra and atla together XD still the most lacking season of shows like these are better then some shows all together :3 3 and 4 are great youll love korra over all
The main rule of Legends of Korra is: don't think about it too hard. If you do, it all falls apart because it's honestly pretty poorly written. Just stare at the pretty lights and you'll have a great time.
I actually did like this series. The problem I and a lot of fans don't like about the series is Korra herself. I tried to give her chance but she ended up being one of my least favorite characters in her own series. Two of her villains are in my top 5 favorite characters in this series.
About the air bison, it was retconned that a group of fire sages continued to raise air bison in secret, so Appa wasn't the last one as everyone thought. No one knew about it until after the war ended though.
@@othergrimm6592 no it’s your explaination that fire sages raised them in secret. Why tell him that at all? This information isn’t even given out in this season! That is literally a reveal that reactors are shocked by. But yeah, just randomly give him info that isn’t given for 20 other episodes.
0:36 literally not even a minute in but yeah have fun telling him season 2 info just for the heck of it. I mean he doesn’t even want you to tell him if you disliked the show. What makes you think he’d want season 2 info???
Korra really is the worst spinoff in the series, you are about to see a character who takes no accountability for her actions and always blames others for her misdeeds, no character development until like the last 3 episodes of the entire series. I swear Aang wasn’t that psychotic.
I may understand if you don't like the character, okay, but don't go around talking nonsense. The character's development is one of the best in the entire series, and although some of her decisions may not be the best, all of them reflect her personality and the way she was raised, being kept imprisoned in the South Pole for 17 years... of course, I don't need to mention that after episodes 7 and 8 of the second season, the character changes drastically in her decisions and only evolves from there.

The flaws remind me a lot of Anne from Amphibia. And if that's an indicator, we should be in for a ride :)

Tenzin is the king of falling for the painted tunnel. But we love him anyway. He’s the Dad character we didn’t know we needed.

I believe Korra would have been one of the most powerful avatar if she had control of her emotions like aang.
The air bisons are a little different from appa they are beige not grey and their horns are more curved and more defined stripes

while yes Korra has faults almost all of them were caused by nickelodeon if you can get through the first half of season 2 youll be through the absolute worse of it, season 2 is where it lags the most over all, but just like the great divide it has its place and it is a must watch for atleast your first watch through :3 its not all bad its just the most lacking season of korra and atla together XD still the most lacking season of shows like these are better then some shows all together :3 3 and 4 are great youll love korra over all
The main rule of Legends of Korra is: don't think about it too hard. If you do, it all falls apart because it's honestly pretty poorly written. Just stare at the pretty lights and you'll have a great time.
I actually did like this series. The problem I and a lot of fans don't like about the series is Korra herself. I tried to give her chance but she ended up being one of my least favorite characters in her own series. Two of her villains are in my top 5 favorite characters in this series.
About the air bison, it was retconned that a group of fire sages continued to raise air bison in secret, so Appa wasn't the last one as everyone thought. No one knew about it until after the war ended though.

Korra really is the worst spinoff in the series, you are about to see a character who takes no accountability for her actions and always blames others for her misdeeds, no character development until like the last 3 episodes of the entire series. I swear Aang wasn’t that psychotic.

Korra is amazing and has great character development throughout the entire series. Is it Zuko level development, no, but she’s amazing!
I may understand if you don't like the character, okay, but don't go around talking nonsense. The character's development is one of the best in the entire series, and although some of her decisions may not be the best, all of them reflect her personality and the way she was raised, being kept imprisoned in the South Pole for 17 years... of course, I don't need to mention that after episodes 7 and 8 of the second season, the character changes drastically in her decisions and only evolves from there.
Not to mention in season 1, episode 2, she apologized to Tenzin for how she acted, it’s a great moment at the end of the episode.
I don't understand how you can say she doesn't take accountaby, when she literally apologises to Tenzin in the first episode...

The air bisons are a little different from appa they are beige not grey and their horns are more curved and more defined stripes
