Tbh, I’ve always considered this a Western made anime. I’ve always thought saying that it is not an anime because it was made in America is an invalid argument. America popularized film and most film genres made today are heavily influenced by Western Films so an action movie made in Bollywood is still an action movie even though it’s made in a different part of the world. The same is true for anime imo. You can be heavily influenced by Japanese anime and still make an anime in your home country. Midnight Sun Madness refers to the effects some people feel when they go to areas of the world where the sun doesn't set for months being near the poles. It can really mess with people if its 1AM and the sun is still shining.

While it is a kids show there is definitely some more mature themes in it. I reqlly hope yall watch all of it in sure youll love it
This isn't really a spoiler, but late, LATE, in season 3, it's very briefly mentioned that airbenders tattoo arrows on themselves because of the arrows on their sky bison. An airbender earns their tattoos once they become fully-fledged master airbenders, which is achieved by either mastering all 36 tiers, or mastering enough tiers + creating a new technique. Aang had mastered 35 tiers when he created the air scooter, thus he qualified for his arrows when he was only 12 years old, which is extremely young to gain one's arrows in air nomad culture.

omg im so excited youre watching this holy shit!!!! one thing i feel like they are not making clear enough: the reason sokka is so tightly strung and so suspicious of aang: he literally is the ONLY boy over the age of like. 7. left in this tribe. literally every other male person had to go to war against the fire nation (or were already killed in battle). and traditionally, of course the men are the ones who protect the tribe. its literally the whole reason he is still there - he is the one who is supposed to protect all of them from possible attacks. from fcking FIREBENDERS like hes not a ~14 year old boy himself still. its quite tragic.
Oh man, there were so many times during this reaction where I wanted to say “hold on to that thought”. For example, why does a prince have such substandard guards? Oh man. This story goes places you wouldn’t even believe…
Omgomgomg new people discovering my favorite show 😍 You just showed up on my for you page and I already love your energies - both woth watching the show and with eachother! I hope you watch the whole show - either way, have my follow 🤗
Fun fact about atlab! : All of the element benders are based on martial art methods! Air benders are based on a type of fighting that use a LOT of evasive maneuvers which is why when fighting zuko he kept avoiding him (ba gua zhang) Fire bending uses a lot of aggressive movements and is based on northern shaolin movements! Water benders are actually based on what you typically see old chinese people do in parks (tai chi) And lastly earth bending is based on hung gar forms! (Sorry i couldnt explain much on shaolin, hung gar, tai chi idk much of martial arts 😭)
I will say that the beginning of the show takes some getting through, but It quickly grows in story and character development. It starts out very kid focused and goofy but it gets toned down as the show goes on and the actual story starts
I watched the trailer and it was amazing! My son watched back in 2014 when he was 11 so I'm now watching the animated series as well. At least the first season so I'll be caught up with the Netflix show and my son, who is now 20 so we can watch it together.
Midnight sun madness is a reference to those who live above or below the arctic or Antarctic circles experience periods of year where the sun never sets because of the axis tilt of earth. There is also times where the sun never rises either.
This is easily one of my favorite shows ever! It's really good & i highly recommend you continue watching, it just gets better as it goes on. As for the movie that shall not be named, if you ever want to see why people hate it, finish this season first & then watch the movie. It was supposed to be a trilogy, but the movie did so badly that they just couldn't make the other 2. How they managed to screw up so badly is beyond me.
LESSSGOOOOO Subscribing and watching these later for the whole journey. ATLA is an iconic show 🥂 The show has a tendency in tying things back to things shown in earlier episodes, so dialogue and characters are all important. Have fun 💪🏽

Great to see you start this masterpiece. If you intend to cover the LA, I recommend trying to get as far as possible into season 2 as well and not just season 1 because it seems like the LA is going to reveal some stuff in its season 1 that wasn't revealed in the cartoon until season 2.
sooooo glad you're going through this journey! cant wait to see the arc of "huh this kids show is actually kinda good" to "holy shit this is the best show ever made" (if you decide to do the whole show ofc)

19:57 In the opening monologue of the first episode, the narrator (Katara) mentioned that the men of the tribe all went to the Earth Kingdom to help with the war effort. That's why Sokka is the oldest male left at the village.
This show only gets better and better as the seasons progress, youre in for a treat. Season one is the intro, but season two is when it really kicks off, and season three closes it brilliantly
Pleaaaaaase watch this show all the way through on the channel. It is so worth it - such a special show with suuuuch a good payoff throughout with story/characters/etc. Trust me, it will be worth it to stick this one out!
I was bummed when you finished GoT (I know you're going to do HotD, but that's only 1 season right now lol) so I'm sooo excited to watch you guys watch this show!
It’s actually a fairly quick watch. 60 episodes seems overwhelming but it goes really fast. Plus some of the episodes can be skipped in my opinion though some people disagree (there’s a list of which episodes are filler online).
I found you guys recently b/c of your GoT reactions, which I really enjoy, and am almost caught up with. So glad to see you trying out another fave of mine, and hope you keep going. As I'm sure many will tell you, S1 is good, but it gets even better in 2 and 3.

Air Nomad culture is based on Tibet, as per behind the scenes interviews on the originally released dvds. Water bending is based on Tai Chi. The Water tribes are based on Inuit culture, as per behind the scenes interviews on the originally released dvds. Earth bending is based on the martial art of Hung Gar. Earth Kingdom is largely based on Chinese culture, as per behind the scenes interviews on the originally released dvds. All music in this show is original, and was created for this show. The soundtrack is beautiful, incredible and perfectly suited to the show.. The Arrow tattoo's on Aang's head, arms, legs, and back are the proof of fact markings, on his body, which directly indicate that he has reached and obtained / is the full rank of an Airbending Master. Appa's arrow is just Appa’s fur pattern. Most creatures in this world are made up of 2 or more animals from our world. Appa is a combination of both a bison and manatee. “…Power in fire-bending comes from the breath. Not the Muscles. The breath becomes energy in the body. The breath energy then extends past the limbs and becomes fire. …” [Uncle Iroh episode 1 Avatar the Last Airbender] Fire Benders create fire by igniting their own breath energy as it extends past their limbs. Focused breath energy enables the fire bender to control the created fire. Unfocused fire creation is dangerous, wild, and destructive. This is an American cartoon, which originally aired on Nickelodeon beginning in 2005, so approximately 19 years ago on February 22nd 2005. (Netflix is launching the live action version on February 22nd 2024 in honor of its 19th year anniversary. Avatar the last Airbender is not an anime. English is the original audio, and the creators are Americans. This show is NOT dubbed at all. Season 1 has 20 episodes originally aired in 2005-2006; Season 2 is also 20 episodes and aired from 2006-2007; Season 3 has 21 episodes and aired from 2007-2008. When watching on Netflix, all the multi-part episodes tend to be combined, so you will see a different episode count. The finale is 4 episodes (I.e. episodes 58-61; aka season 3 episodes 18-21)which all aired as a single 93 minute movie, in primetime, in 2008. It was a HUGE event on Nickelodeon. Still one of their highest watched airings ever! Nothing, is superlative in this show. The amount of tie ins, call backs, and fore shadowing, which occurs is astounding. Every time you watch this show, you the viewer, will see more connections, more fore shadowing and nuance. This show is amazing to the 9th degree, in that way. Enjoy the journey. No filler in this show. Only episode 11, the least liked episode of the series could possibly be considered filler, but even this episode gets a call back in episode 57 (I.e. Season 3 episode 17). Episode 11 is disliked because it was the episode, after its original airing, which aired whenever, and I mean whenever, there was no new episode for a given week. Fans all excited for a new Episode tune in and groan, grumble, grumble, it is episode 11, again, and again, and again, ad infinitum!!! It was as if Nickelodeon was playing a Groundhog Day movie joke on Avatar the Last Airbender Fans. Episode 11 is fine on first viewing, or on a full rewatch of the series. It is the most stand alone episode of the series, but the fact that it was ALWAYS the episode aired, when there was no new episode for a given week, caused fans to see it as the worst episode of the series, and dislike it because of how often it was aired and used by Nickelodeon. Part of the major excitement for Episode 12, was IT was episode 12! Finally!!! Also Episode 12 is one of the best episodes of season 1, and in the top 10, for me, of the whole show. I can not express how happy and blown away by Episode 12, all the fans were, when it finally, aired originally. Some of that was Hooray!, We finally are getting a new episode, continuing the story, and part was Episode 12 itself in its own amazing way. Enjoy the ride. This show is fantastic.

This animated series was phenomenal!!!! An absolute gem!!!!💧🌪️⛰️🔥
Don't forget!!! Fan 🪭 and Sword 🗡️
@@TheEstablishedW😂
y'all are in for a treat!! one of my few extremely distinct childhood memories (not shorter or can't remember exactly when it happened etc) is playing Lego Star Wars the day it released while waiting for the new Avatar episode I was SO INSANELY HYPE that day
This show is good in book 2 and 3. you can't judge it if you watch book 1 only. Guys, imagine seeing avatar without knowing about Toph and Zuko? Leaves from the vines?
You gotta do the whole series! The first season is good, but 2 and 3 are amazing. Looking forward to seeing you discover this story :D
0:00 - “We have to be appropriate because this is a child’s show.”.. I look forward to coming back to this part in the future lol hope you enjoy the journey
This is as close to being the perfect fantasy story as any other story I’ve seen or read.
I beg you to watch the whole show, like seriously the show is perfect, the best kids show to exist and it deals whith dark topics. Its truly a masterpiece and i will die on that hill lol
Midnight Sun Madness refers to the effects some people feel when they go to areas of the world where the sun doesn't set for months being near the poles. It can really mess with people if its 1AM and the sun is still shining.
Whole show! Whole show! WHOLE SHOW!! 😂
a big yes for the whole series
I highly recommend you continue watching this series. You seem to really enjoy it and it only gets better from here
I dont wanna spoil anything. The airbenders get the arrow tattoos when they become masters of airbending. This show has always been one of my favorites and it getts getting better. While it is a kids show there is definitely some more mature themes in it. I reqlly hope yall watch all of it in sure youll love it
11:01 "what can you do, complain?"
well, most of the time yes. but you'll see soon enough what else he can do. just wait.
One of the few, if not the only show, that I'd ever consider a required watch
Timeless legend of a story
This isn't really a spoiler, but late, LATE, in season 3, it's very briefly mentioned that airbenders tattoo arrows on themselves because of the arrows on their sky bison. An airbender earns their tattoos once they become fully-fledged master airbenders, which is achieved by either mastering all 36 tiers, or mastering enough tiers + creating a new technique. Aang had mastered 35 tiers when he created the air scooter, thus he qualified for his arrows when he was only 12 years old, which is extremely young to gain one's arrows in air nomad culture.
grew up on this one and i LOVE it , i see the arrow on codys head in the near future
Definitely can see it coming 😂
The best part of the Netflix avatar show is how many reactors are watching the original now. We eating so good
You guys will love this show. The first season is great, but it's also way worse than the other two seasons, so if you're enjoying it now you're going to REALLY have a great time
5:35 Well I mean is that the sorta whole gist of icebergs? Lol That the part of the iceberg that’s beneath the water can potentially be CONSIDERABLY bigger than the part of it you see that’s breaching the water’s surface.
You definitely have to keep watching! PLEASE? It's so worth it. It's a masterpiece.
Guys please. This is my favorite childhood series. And it holds up for adults, too.
omg im so excited youre watching this holy shit!!!! one thing i feel like they are not making clear enough: the reason sokka is so tightly strung and so suspicious of aang: he literally is the ONLY boy over the age of like. 7. left in this tribe. literally every other male person had to go to war against the fire nation (or were already killed in battle). and traditionally, of course the men are the ones who protect the tribe. its literally the whole reason he is still there - he is the one who is supposed to protect all of them from possible attacks. from fcking FIREBENDERS like hes not a ~14 year old boy himself still. its quite tragic.
Oh man, there were so many times during this reaction where I wanted to say “hold on to that thought”. For example, why does a prince have such substandard guards? Oh man. This story goes places you wouldn’t even believe…
Or even “That’s his Sky Buffalo. Bison. Same thing.”😂
Also with, "what are the odds (Zuko) is that close".... fate is a hell of a thing
You’re going to LOVE it. I rewatch it to this day. Great series
Omgomgomg new people discovering my favorite show 😍
You just showed up on my for you page and I already love your energies - both woth watching the show and with eachother!
I hope you watch the whole show - either way, have my follow 🤗
Every time a reaction channel views ATLA for the first time, an angel gets its wings
Fun fact about atlab! :
All of the element benders are based on martial art methods!
Air benders are based on a type of fighting that use a LOT of evasive maneuvers which is why when fighting zuko he kept avoiding him (ba gua zhang)
Fire bending uses a lot of aggressive movements and is based on northern shaolin movements!
Water benders are actually based on what you typically see old chinese people do in parks (tai chi)
And lastly earth bending is based on hung gar forms!
God the humor in this show is just so well done
I loved watching all your game of thrones reactions. And now you are starting Avatar!!!! I am so excited for you guys. I think you guys will love it.
LESSSGOOOOO
Subscribing and watching these later for the whole journey. ATLA is an iconic show 🥂 The show has a tendency in tying things back to things shown in earlier episodes, so dialogue and characters are all important. Have fun 💪🏽
This is genuinely one of the best animated shows I've ever seen, and I watch all kinds of anime and western animation and stuff
Very happy two of my favourite reactors are reacting to one of my favourite shows ^^ I hope you like it as much as I do :D
So much YES! You guys are gunna love this. Now I’m not going to lie, there are at couple crap episodes but every shows got those. The end game and characters are totally worth it! 😁👍
It's my favorite show of all time. It's currently the 7th highest rated show on IMDBs top 250 list. And I don't mind setting these expectations because im that confident you will absolutely love it. So enjoy the ride and we'll all be watching you have this experience for the first time. Ty for the content ❤
Great to see you start this masterpiece. If you intend to cover the LA, I recommend trying to get as far as possible into season 2 as well and not just season 1 because it seems like the LA is going to reveal some stuff in its season 1 that wasn't revealed in the cartoon until season 2.
This is a great choice! Please watch until the end, definitely won't regret and I can't wait to watch it with you again 😊
I was literally going thru y’all’s vids to see if you’ve done ATLA yet and then this came out! I’m so happy!!! This is one of my favorite series
HOLY SH- i've never opened a notification so fast lol you guys gonna LOVE this!! ❤️
If u want those 100k subs, continue watching this series. The avatar fanbase is a very passionate one haha
sooooo glad you're going through this journey! cant wait to see the arc of "huh this kids show is actually kinda good" to "holy shit this is the best show ever made" (if you decide to do the whole show ofc)
"Boomerang, you do always come back"
So happy yall are watching this!!! Me and my bf love y’all’s reactions and this is my favorite show (GoT is his) Yall will love love love this show 💕
WOW i did not expect this to be a new show.
I watched all your GOT reactions and im SO SO excited !!!
This show gets so much better, youll be hooked by season 2!
Yeah thanks you both for watching Avatar the last Airbender & giving it a chance
This show is perfection ❤ so glad to see people discovering it again 🎉
OMG what a fun supriseeee. I LOVE this series. You guys will love itt
I 1 billion % recommend doing the entire show
Really glad you’re reacting to this great show! I’m glad you’re already enjoying it, but it gets much better actually. 👍
I’m just so happy to see people trying out the series for the first time even almost 20 years after its release
tysm for reacting to this MASTERPIECE 🙂
So glad you're watching this, gives me another series to rewatch with you as soon as GoT ended
when she cracked the iceberg the air bubble that Aang was trapped in was able to flip over
It’s actually a fairly quick watch.
Avatar Last Airbender bending's are based on real world martial arts.
The Bending List is in Avatar cycle order.
Fire bending is based on Northern Shaolin. Fire Nation culture largely draws from Imperial Japan, as per behind the scenes interviews on the originally released dvds.
Air bending is based on Circle motions of Baguazhang.
…” [Uncle Iroh episode 1 Avatar the Last Airbender]
Fire Benders create fire by igniting their own breath energy as it extends past their limbs.
“Nobody pushes my grandma but me” 😂
You’re watching avatar!? Me: subscribed
You’re gonna love this show! Keep it up y’all! Binge it to finished before the live action 😜
Marvel definitely needs to learn from Avatar on how to write 20min episodes
so ready for this, the journey gets sooo deep and serious !
I've been binge-watching you guys far past week.
And now you are watching best animated show ever?
I'm too excited for this reaction.
