  • This is a practice painting of my daughter--working out skin tones, subtle shadows, and trying out a new approach using a blue and yellow underpainting.
I think the subtle cool color temperature really makes the skin look more transparent and realistic!
    What do you think?
    Skin tone colors used:
    QOR Phthalo Blue
    Holbein Yellow Ochre
    Holbein Scarlet Lake
    Winsor & Newton Transparent Orange
    Daniel Smith Quinacridone Rose
For the darkest shadows I'm experimenting with a mix of Sap Green, Transparent Orange and Quinacridone Rose. It made for a lovely transparent, non-granulating dark brown.
