I put coasters out to protect my wood surfaces. I have friends that have no concept of how to care for things, and I’m not about to give them freedom to ruin my furniture just because they don’t know how to live with nice things. It’s not being inhospitable, it’s being cautious and careful of the things I’ve worked hard for.

I can completely identify with the sentiment of the pea gravel drive. Wow! This home is beyond gorgeous, I love that its livable and collected. The ambiance wants you want to pack a suitcase and just go for a visit and out of all the homes I have viewed this one does my heart a lot of good. Yes, it looks like how a home should feel.
I fully understand your closeness and affection for your home. My partner and I moved into our home 43 years ago as young men, I was 35 he was 26. We loved it and over the years added to it. My beloved passed away nearly three years ago after 47 years of being together, leaving me devastated, and I still am. My message is enjoy every day together along with your friends. God Bless.
Barry and Will’s incredible generosity in sharing their home with numerous community events is beyond gracious. The biggest takeaway from the decor is the ultimate and thoughtful layering of color, texture and the stories the pieces tell. The mixture of antiques and everyday items truly makes this grand house a welcoming home.

Why remove your coasters? They protect your valuable furniture. No need to "force" anyone to do anything. Some people burp at the table...you can't force them not to. Some people will put a wet glass on a mahogany table and leave a ring. Putting coasters on your valuable furniture gives your guests the chance to respect your hospitality and home if they choose to.

Usually preferring modern architecture, I didn't want to like this, I really didn't but oh my gosh, I do! A bit too frilly and busy for my sensibilities,to be honest, but it feels so warm and inviting and liveable, and the owners have such a great attitude to the property that I found myself loving it in spite of myself ❤
Almost had to stop watching when I saw the hunters & hounds. I care for a feral cat colony and a mother fox and her kits came a calling when they discovered the daily cat food. The thought of hunting these beautiful animals sickens me but then Mr. Dixon said the magic words… “ no kill hunt” and I was able to proceed and view his magnificent home and property.
Foxhunting is a barbaric pursuit and simply shouldn't take place however the home is beautiful and harks back to a simpler time a sympathetic restoration executed to perfection the brief here has been achieved in full detail.
Wow, there are way too many things scattered about in those rooms. It's more a curiosity shop than a home. The architectural elements of the building are smothered by all those nice things everywhere one looks. It's like a house and a decorator warehouse thrown together.
I want to know how many people and what it takes to clean their home. I love all the trinkets but man that must be hard to clean through all that layer
