    glad you learned the first lesson of a mechanic: if you find something broken before you replace it you neec to know why it broke. the origin of the problem. even if it works the first time it would break soon.

    my 140 cc stomp currently clicks and clacks when driving in any gear and is a very rough and rocks the bike too much when trying to ride, feels like its clutch slipping but it feels worse and my chain keeps flying off soon as soon as I full throttle.

    Man I hope mine isn’t cracked. Was riding a single track real fast and on a right corner at high speed I caught my kickstarter on a big root and took me down. Now the kick started engages low and is missing the top catch. Sometimes it slips a few times around until it catches a good spot. I’m guessing it’s just a few teeth torn up on one side. But I’m in the same boat. I’m on the fence of either doing it myself, dropping it off with the power sports dealer near me, or ordering a Lifan 140cc. What do you guys think? Parts are about 65.00.
    Bringing it to the shop I’m guessing 150-200 parts and labor
    Or new engine 140cc 500.00. What would all of you do?

    The kick start shaft on mine has also got wear on it and on the other 2 cogs. But my kick start shaft has palay on it as I can move it slightly left to right and up and down is this normal

    • @slavsquad
      @slavsquad  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello, As I remember mine also had slight play. The shaft only really slides into a little spot on the end on the inside of the cases so it’s nothing super tight holding it in place. So it should have a little bit of play when the clutch cover is off but when the clutch cover is on you should not have any play

    I've just bought a demon 110 pit bike and I think I've got this problem with the gears... It kicks ok odd time but then it's really stiff other times and doesn't want to go down... Luckily it starts first kick when it does kick properly. Do you know what will happen if I just leave it and continue to ride it like this? As long as it doesn't make anything else worse I don't see a problem if it starts first kick. Also it doesn't do it if I pull the clutch in, it goes down normal so would that still mean it's these cogs? Thanks

    • @slavsquad
      @slavsquad  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Could be a chipped gear which could be a problem down the road if there’s a metal piece bouncing around in the engine. I’d take the clutch cover off and do at least an inspection before it got to bad. In the past I’d just leave it tell it became a bigger issue but now i try to fix stuff before they get to expensive.

      @@gixxer7907 did you visually inspect all the gears? The gear on the clutch basket. And all others? Make sure clutch basket goes in all the way and you have both washer and lock washer after basket. If all checks out it could be internal. Would have to split the cases for that. If that’s the case clean everything and make sure nothings inside the engine that can harm it and send it 🤷🏼‍♀️ probably what I’d have done. • @slavsquad

      When you use a drill you ha e to make sure the drill bit is a perfect size and not small otherwise you will strip it. Either get a bigger drill bit or get one of those screw drivers you hammer on top to break bolts free. Not sure what it’s called.

      Hi Will, I don’t believe there is an actual torque spec for the pit bikes. I just tighten it as much as I can but not a crazy amount. If I’d put a number to it I’d say roughly 45ft lbs for the main clutch Nut that requires the special tool or how I did it with a flathead and a hammer. Lmk if I answered your question

      Hello
      The kick start problem is open it up snd check the gears like I did in this video. I have another video you can check out where I split the cases and replace the whole kickstart shaft.
      As for the clutch you have to open the clutch cover and make sure on the inside of the cover that the spring mechanism is working properly and that your clutch is in good shape. What kind of engine are you working on?

      @@artturihiljanen2038 if your main concern is the clutch then I would just take the clutch cover off and make sure that the spring mechanism is working. Follow where the clutch cable connects on the clutch plate and play with that on the outside and the inside of the clutch cover.
