    It’s crazy how something as simple as recording yourself makes you see how many little things you can overlook if you are not careful. I also find it crazy how watching you do things can a lot of times correct things I didn’t even notice I was doing wrong. I agree with all your points coach! Great video as always.

    Man, your so underrated Jkillah! You gave the best advice and did not leave any details out when it comes to roundhouse. 💯. ...most other avid youtube practitioners I struggle to watch 11 minutes of their videos, not you sir. Very valuable information and textbook. I will have to admit my roundhouse sucks but my takeaway is to avoid leaning...for the most part I take care of everything else. 500,000 to go 0 down on roundhouse and the first 100 to 500 will be very slow making sure to place emphasis on the form and the highlighted 7 points and I already know with repetition the hip and torquing the supporting leg will whip out the knockout power that will subconsciously come later without knowing. Oss! 🔥🔥🔥

    Start slow, focus on your form and quality kick plus those 7 tips. I would like to add 1 more and that's your hip thrust movement from the core of your body will generate a perfect roundhouse kick.

  • @maxrey4055
    @maxrey4055 4 ปีที่แล้ว +8

    Good instruction ! Also having a bag that doesn't move I also key for getting the technique down 100%. Too many people move pass the development with a still bag worrying about "more realistic" training with a swinging bag. That comes later

    I've been doing it right all along. As a Yaw-Yan practitioner, I was taught to keep our hands up to keep our defense when kicking. I get tempted to generate more power by swinging my arm though.

    • @kristianjensen5877
      @kristianjensen5877 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Well we *can* swing our arm depending on the circumstances.
      If we've noticed the opponent isn't countering much, we might want to swap safety for power or if we catch them in a situation where being countered isn't a huge risk (eg. we have moved off of their center line by ducking/dipping/rolling to their side / blind angle before kicking).
      When fighting straight on, posting / guarding is always a good habit to have though.

    Solid tips, sir. I agree with every one of them. In addition, for my students moving into the intermediate level, I have them focus on turning the shoulder over and driving through with the hips (rather than pulling the shoulder back and/or "flicking" or straightening the leg prior to impact). Just some food for thought.

    • @SENSEIJASON
      @SENSEIJASON  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      At the impact point, full extension to slight extension is all acceptable.
      It really just depends on the target area and amount of power you want to deliver.
      Fully extending will leave you more compromised to being countered though.

    Hi Jason. Thanks for vid. I don’t have access to a heavy bag, do you think it’s possible to practise/learn the roundhouse effectively without one?

    • @SENSEIJASON
      @SENSEIJASON  3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Yes of course, you will have good “form”. But without practicing any impact training on a heavy bag or something similar, you will not be able to learn proper power transfer and positioning when you “connect” to a target. I trained karate most of my life and classes are usually taught without any impact training, so a high priority was focused on the “form” or “shape”. Without bagwork or heavy bag training your “form” may lack “substance”.

      @@SENSEIJASON that is what happens when you throw all strength shin kicks ( and you try to lateral kick knees on someone with a good stance and checking sense). McGregor's coach said it was a block but IDK.

      well there is a video showing mcgregor throwing a front kick going upwards to poirier's elbow, that is when it breaks.

      @@SENSEIJASON that is what McGregor's team said I saw that. It was a good block. If McGregor had control or better judgement he might not have taken that hit. Earlier in the fight though he Poirer checks a couple dirty knee kick for connor against his stance and the points at McGregor's foot like he knew something was up.
