  • Have you ever tried to sneak a round kick under your opponent’s guard? You target their stomach and end up putting your foot into an elbow. It hurts a lot so today I explain how I avoid this scenario and how to safely attack the body with round kicks.

  • @SuperGoatTV
    @SuperGoatTV ปีที่แล้ว

    A key step to preventing injury is also proper rotation of your hips and kicking slightly downward at an angle so that you are not kicking your opponent in an upward trajectory because then you can suffer some serious pain on your foot If you hit that elbow. And as far as conditioning of the shin what happens is the more you kick something like a Muay Thai heavy bag it creates micro fractures in the bone and as they heal that section of bone becomes denser and the frequent impact in that area also numbs the nerve endings minimizing the sensation of pain

    So just to give a basic explanation of the difference between increasing bone-density and muscle strength:
    Muscles grow through Davis' Law which I think most people are aware of: stress on the muscles creates micro-tears which stimulates the body to grow more cells to rebuild the tears and be better ready for the stress next time.
    Bones increase in density through Wolff's Law, which is that cells around the bone and some in the bone sense that they are under load and send messages to the brain, which sends back messages to build stronger cells in the bones (as like all cells in the body they are regularly dying and being replaced).
    According to a biologist friend of mine tears or fractures in a bone would actually make the bone weaker as it can't increase the number of cells in the bones only their health/quality = ability to withstand stress. So micro-fractures will just knit back together and keep the damage rather than put new cells in which will potentially make it bigger. This is why once your skeleton is fully grown there's no way to increase it's cells and become taller.
    If anyone knows it better and can explain it to me please reply, I'm aware my own understanding of biology is far from perfect. Thanks!

  • @mmareviewer.2372
    @mmareviewer.2372 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    The best way is also to make the kick properly. I mean like actually pivot and put the hip into it properly, and the kick will almost come in perfectly from the side every time. Doing it properly actually makes is hard to get the elbow directly unless they are trying to flare it out to hit your foot. If you kind of soccer kick it directly up then this becomes a major risk factor.

  • @ScottGarrettDrums

    Aim for the bicep? That's brilliant! Thanks for sharing this tip.
    Also, you can condition your forearms the same way you condition your shins. A makiwara bag on a table (or similar) works great, so you can drive your forearms into it like you're doing hammer fists. It's a lot easier than trying to do the same thing on a heavy bag. Or, you could take up skateboarding and get used to hitting the cement, as well as your board hitting your shins, several times a session, lol.

      @GabrielVargaOfficial  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I've been told with shin-conditionin, because our bones are porous, we try to break up the bone structure between the pores. When the bone has healed it then becomes a solid mass instead of the porous-y structure bones usually are. Made sense to me.

    • @Drikkerbadevand
      @Drikkerbadevand 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Our bones have a 'spongy' core if that's what you mean. But it serves an important function by supplying osteocytes with blood and nutrients etc. When you harden your bones osteoblasts deposit more calcium into the intracellular matrix of the compact bone on the outside, making it thicker. I think using the terminology 'breaking structures' or 'creating micro fractures' is too aggressive to describe what is reslly happening. It is a process of very slow bone remodeling. A completely broken bone will actually NOT grow back any stronger, in fact it might actually be weaker.
      The way you initiate this remodeling is NOT by rubbing things on your shins btw. It is with force application, weight lifting (compressive forced) kicking things (bending forces) and so on. All that rubbing your shin with rolling pins etc will do is desensitize the nerves of your skin and underlying tissue, but wont do much to your bone. I dont claim to be an expert or anything though

If I wanna hit the body and not worry about the elbow I just turn my hips in more so my leg and shin comes straight horizontal. Hey Gabriel. I have a question for you. How do you avoid knee blocks every time you're throwing a low kick? I have seen your video about low kicks and I'm still wondering on how should a locate be thrown so that in case of knee block you endure the least amount of damage?

      Try to throw some hands before the low kick.
      I also like to do what Liam Harrison does, throw a very weak low kick to get the opponent to check, then as they put the leg back down they are vulnerable to the low kick

    In Bones it's caused by Wolff's law - which is similar to but not the same as the way muscles adapt.
    This is quoted directly from Wikipedia:
    "Wolff's law, developed by the German anatomist and surgeon Julius Wolff (1836-1902) in the 19th century, states that bone in a healthy person or animal will adapt to the loads under which it is placed.[1] If loading on a particular bone increases, the bone will remodel itself over time to become stronger to resist that sort of loading.[2][3] The internal architecture of the trabeculae undergoes adaptive changes, followed by secondary changes to the external cortical portion of the bone,[4] perhaps becoming thicker as a result. The inverse is true as well: if the loading on a bone decreases, the bone will become less dense and weaker due to the lack of the stimulus required for continued remodeling.[5]"

      As always your wife seems really cool & nice!
      I think everybody enjoys seeing you two together in videos even though she's not a particularly high-level fighter because you two just seem like such a great couple and radiate chemistry & charisma!

    It seems that it is all about setting traps, distance management, technique, and an Iron-Will each and every fight!!
    Setting Traps on the other combatant can and quite often does result in the difference between the winner and the loser. Punch to the body in order to open up the head, and vice versa.
    I'm seeing similarities between the low, body, and head/high kixx!! When they get used to you hitting their body or their legs with your shins, then change it up to the head kicc for the finish!!
    Battle of the precise strategists!! 💯

    I'm new to striking and sometimes when I'm sparing and things are going well for me/ my partner is challenged, and I get this moment of "oh shoot! I'm sparing with this person that can annihilate me" and my performance dips dramatically. Any way to get over that? Or is it just something to slowly get used to?

    A LONG TIME A GO THERE WAS THIS GUY THEY NAMED "THE ANIMAL" AROUND MY GYM, VERY STRONG AND SKILLED BUT HE WENT NEEDLESSLY HARD WHEN WE SPARRED, I STARTED TO CHECK HIS KICKS WITH ELBOWS HE TROWED A TANTRUM AND WENT TO GET HIS SHIN PADS. I RATHER CHECK KICKS WITH ELBOWS THAN MY FOREARM'S BONE.

  • @Docinaplane

    Great advice!! The worst foot swelling I ever sustained was as a karate teacher for beginners. I was teaching a downward block for a front kick,. and I was the target. Instead of doing the block as taught, he blocked with a 12-6 elbow directly into the top of my foot. There are times when you just don't show pain (I think you know what I mean), but as Conor has said, later, "my foot was a balloon" lol.

    kicked so much elbows with the top of my foot in a hard sparring like about a year ago that it took about 2 weeks to heal, my foot over that 2 weeks was so bruised and sore that it looked like a golf ball. It didnt hurt while fighting, but the time when the adrenaline rush ended, my foot was pale as fuked.

    yeah it's microfractures that result in increased bone density adaptations over time. Called wolff's law.

    • @philsayer2447
      @philsayer2447 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey friend. Just to let you know I used to think Wolff's law worked by micro-fractures too but after asking a friend whose a biologist to help me understand it apparently it actually works just simply from the stress stimulating better-quality cells to grow out in the marrow (because like the rest of the body cells are slowly dying and being replaced all the time).
      Apparently if they fractured in the way muscles cells get micro-tears this would weaken instead of strengthen the bone as muscles replace the tears with new cells but bones can't increase their cell count (which is why once your skeleton is fully grown it can't get taller). They can only replace don't cells with stronger, healthier cells that the body tells it to make because of the demands on it.
      Also Wolff's law apparently states that just from not using a bone or putting any demands on it the bones cell quality will reduce and it will become weaker.
