Here in Darwin, Australia, if one's acceptance rate drops below 85%, they take away the privilege to see the distance of the next ride! This is the most important thing a driver wants to see!!! It is criminal from Uber's side to do this!!!! I get so many uneconomical ride requests, that I can NOT accept...... but then I get punished for it!!!!! I wish that we could have a class action law suite against this act of Uber!!!

Until they have done the gig for a couple months they probably don’t realize they are just cannibalizing their own asset (vehicle). Some never understand this.

I did a good job, found bugs, published my video "DoorDash Diversity", and was subsequently banned for reasons DoorDash refused to disclose to me.
But I'm currently not driving. Yesterday, another entitled passenger canceled on me after I drove 13 minutes to pick him up in a surge. The rider actually called me to demand I cancel his trip because he was angry about having to pay a cancellation fee.
After he cancelled, I had to call Uber Driver support. And, after about fifty minutes of fighting (and being hung up on) by Uber Driver support, I received a $3.75 cancellation fee.
I followed up in Driver Support chat and got the usual. They don't listen to the problem and refused to compensate me more than the $3.75 that I had to fight for in the first place. No surge price, no compensation for the extra time to pick up the entitled rider.

It should be more incentives for drivers for accepting bs rides. Many of us drivers take on bs rides to keep our acceptance rate high... but uber needs to have incentives to make up for these rides. Trapped between exploitative algorithms and unpredictable traffic, ride-share drivers deserve more than scraping by. They deserve fair compensation that covers costs and ensures a living wage. That's why we need a minimum pay law, anchored in a percentage of fuel costs per mile and a guaranteed minimum hourly rate for unavoidable delays. This isn't about extravagance, it's about basic financial security. Drivers shouldn't have to choose between putting food on the table and running their vehicles into the ground for a pittance. Ride-share giants may turn handsome profits, but not at the expense of driver livelihoods. Every trip should offer the promise of economic sustainability, not crushing debt. This isn't a handout, it's a matter of fairness and stability for the vital transportation industry. Let's protect our drivers, ensure profitability on every ride, and create a system that works for everyone by demanding a minimum pay law with fuel-cost-based compensation and fair delay/wait time fees.

Man it looks like Uber is gonna make it easy for Lyft to take market share. I'm against this because I want to see Lyft get better and more popular on its own merits.

Now you understand why they have 60,000 drivers in most big city markets they’re trying to thin out the drivers that are not willing to work 12 hours well at least the drivers that are not willing to work eight hours. There’s too many drivers they’ll have no problem finding people to work for nothing.

Tbh Lyft hasnt been doing well. They never grew out of rideshare. Meanwhile Uber takes on Doordash, GrubHub, they merged with Postmates. Also they are in rival with instacart and shipt. Lyft needs to diversify or they will go bankrupt.

My acceptance rate is at 20 percent because I do a lot of Uber Eats deliveries and I decline about 80 percent of the food deliveries because the payment is terrible per miles driven. Food deliveries has killed my acceptance rate but I’m not going to accept low paying deliveries.

Personally as a driver I believe it’s done on purpose. Why would you get rides that are 10 minutes or more from you. When you open the passenger app and see there are drivers way closer that could pick up that consumer. And obviously they don’t want the ride. Even though they’re closer to the passenger. But yet you get put in time out. So does that mean the other drivers closest to that passenger are in timeout. Like let’s say when you see four that are closer than you are. Are all five of you in time out. Because that definitely seems like we’re no longer Online. Not to mention as an independent contractor. As they call us. Are being subject to employee rules.

I worked for Uber & Lyft for 5 years, and got out before it got worse 2 years ago. It's gone down hill doing 0-60! Their systems must be regulated which means drivers become employees. The entire model is based on profits over people. Drivers and passengers are not safe and raked over the coals.

I was in the airport queue for about 20 minutes, 70+ cars. I got a request going 45 minutes to a dead area. I rejected it. Another long trip to a dead area came up, I rejected that. Then a notice popped up, if you reject the next request you will be placed in the back of the line. Who thinks of this.

I don’t take trips which are less than $1.00 per gross mile. I’ll be spending lots of time bouncing back and forth from these apps and likely reducing my gross and net income. You full time drivers should look elsewhere because both Lyft and Uber are going to take until they can’t. 60-70% of my ride offers have no driver income (pay), only income for vehicle consumption. The great advantage Uber/Lyft have is there is a pool of millions who try the gig. The pool isn’t endless but will always offer a sizable pool of drivers. It takes a couple of months to learn they are not actually making any income, just cash flow, while they cannibalize their own (asset) vehicle. Once they understand this fact, they leave.
Uber/Lyft wins unless drivers can enjoin a governmental body to engage and help the driver community.

This happens or happened to doordashers. After about 5 to 10 declines, doordash will pause the app and you have 36 minutes to resume your driving. So as a Dasher this is nothing new. I haven't experience this yet as an Uber eats delivery driver.
