Zhu Bajie admired the Taiyin Star Lord (not Chang'e), but on his journey, he encountered a handmaiden who turned out to be Chang'e (Chang'e is a title; all handmaidens of the Taiyin Star Lord are called Chang'e). The Jade Emperor was secretly meeting with the Taiyin Star Lord when Tian Peng (Bajie) accidentally saw them. As a result, he was banished to the mortal realm. This Chang'e, unable to forget Tian Peng, also descended to the mortal world and became a spider demon. When the banished Bajie saw Gao Cuilan at Gao Village, he mistook her for Chang'e and pursued her. However, Gao Cuilan was terrified when she saw Bajie's true form. As Bajie continued westward, he reached the Pansi Cave, where the reincarnated Purple Spider immediately recognized the pig-headed figure she had longed for. The two fell in love, and Bajie spared the Purple Spider during this tribulation. The Purple Spider bore Bajie’s daughter and waited for him until her death. Due to the earlier case of mistaken identity, the Purple Spider said to Bajie on her deathbed, "You're still as foolish as before," referring to both his mistake and his reluctance to acknowledge them out of fear of the Heavenly Court’s retribution. Even someone as powerful as the Monkey King was killed by the Heavenly Court. The Bull Demon King, a mighty warlord in his own right, suffered the destruction of his family and the scattering of his loved ones just because he got entangled with someone of destiny. How could the small Pansi Cave stand against the Heavenly Court? Bajie didn’t have the skills of his elder brother, nor the power of the Bull Demon King. If he doesn't look back, he can't love her; if he does, it will bring her harm. So Bajie chose not to acknowledge her-he couldn’t. Bajie was determined to help the destined one, and even if he failed, the only price would be his own life. He would no longer drag his loved ones into it. The best love he could give her was to let go.
@@88nguyenquangbach91 Yep, it's a very different story from the source material. He has been cursed to suffer 1000 cycles of tragic romance, so he left to protect her (sadly it still didn't matter). And as the song says - the woman is willing to suffer those cycles of tragedy with him. Bajie, however, cannot bear to do that. He plays the coward and the fool to push those he truly loves away, but as the game shows, they still cannot escape this fate.
This is why some Chinese regard the original novel as a satire. The vast majority of the demons that Sun Wukong defeated on his journey to the west were pets of the gods in the sky, so all those demons were saved by their own masters before being killed by Sun Wukong. Only one skeleton monster, who had cultivated herself completely on her own, was completely killed by the Monkey King. At least the original had him being punished for being a perv (which was basically trying to touch someone without permission back then). BM had his punishment be because he caught The Jade Emperor in an affair with the Taiyin Star Maiden; that's so much more fucked up.
Well, what Marshal Tian Peng did was extremely drunk and trying to sexual harrasment on Jade Emperor's GF in public. I was like you are trying to harrased CEO's mistress in work place.

In China, there is a word "male plowing and female weaving", meaning that men work in agriculture and women weave, describing that men and women in the countryside each have their own responsibilities, and work together in harmony. BAJIE holding a nail harrow, spiders spitting silk and weaving cloth, this kind of happy days is unique to the romance of the Chinese people.
To whom are confused by the chapter 4 ending, here is explanation: Pigsy (Bajie), in his pursuit of Moon Goddess, accidentally bumped into Zi'er (the elder spider lady). Zi'er fell deeply in love with Pigsy at first sight. Later, Pigsy was banished to the mortal realm after exposing the illicit affair between Moon Goddess and the Jade Emperor. Zi'er willingly gave up her immortality to follow Pigsy. Through nine reincarnations, Pigsy wandered, and Zi'er waited. Pigsy transformed from a demon to a Buddha, while Zi’er descended from a deity to a demon. Their destinies, once intertwined, drifted further apart. After completing the fifth chapter, we discover that Pigsy didn't deny their past but feared acknowledging it. Due to the Heavenly Court's persecution, Pigsy worried that being with him would endanger Zi'er, so he resolutely chose to embark on the Journey to the West. Pigsy, mistakenly reincarnated as a pig, frightened another young lady at the beginning of the story. Yet, despite his pig-like appearance, Zi'er instantly recognized Pigsy's original handsome features in the hot spring. As their hands clasped, Pigsy's initial reaction was self-loathing. He transformed back into a pig, saying, "I'm no longer the mighty Marshal of the Heavenly River; I'm just a lowly pig demon." Zi'er, upon hearing this, instantly transformed into a spider, saying, "I don't care! I'm no longer a graceful celestial maiden, but just an ugly spider." True love is accepting the other unconditionally, even at their most destitute. After confessing their deepest insecurities, they embraced each other without hesitation. In the final lines of the song, the man sings, "I hope you won't look back" (hoping she hadn't fallen for him initially and could remain a happy celestial maiden), while the woman sings, "Please do look back" (no matter what, I will wait for you).
To my knowledge, that is not jade emperor, he look way to young in this animation, he is an older dude who always dress in an emperor dress plus he already got a wife named wang mu niang niang, if she found out he's having affair like this, she will rip his head off but then again, this is a made up story for the game and should not compared to the original JTTW. Jade emperor also have 7 daughters (七仙女) and sons.
A small explaination for the part 03:06 - 03:16 (assume that you have already understood the story) Gradually, she turns from human to monster (spider): she can not let go of her love (cause suffering, anger after waiting for so many years) leading to her misdeeds (killing, etc.), which is a part of monster's nature Gradually, he turns from monster (pig) to human, he lets go of his love to embark on the journey approaching buddhahood (though, he stills feels sorry for her as he cries at the end)
I think it plays each of their lives from and to the moment they met. The spider lady's sequence is going forward in time, and Zhubajie's sequence is going backwards in time. Each frame in their respective sequences actually corresponds to one another, showing what they were going through at that moment in time. Edit: how to check this. Open up the video in two separate windows, then starting from the fully transformed spider lady image, use the "" keys to move through the video one frame at a time in each window. Zhubajie's sequence has one extra scene at the end (where he cries as a human).
I also interpreted it as them being able to see each other clearly in spite of everything they’ve been through. Bajie remembers who she was, and sees who she becomes. While Spider sees who he is, and accepts him as if he never changed at all. ie she doesn’t just see a pig, and he doesn’t just see a monster
The story here is that Pigsy (aka Tianpeng in heaven) admired Taiyin Xingjun (not Chang'e), and the maid he met on the road was Chang'e (Chang'e is an official title, and all the maids of Taiyin Xingjun are called Chang'e). Pigsy caught the Jade Emperor and Taiyin Xingjun having a secret affair and got demoted to the mortal world. This Chang'e was obsessed with Tianpeng and descended to the mortal world to become a spider yaoguai. Pigsy, who was demoted to the mortal world, saw Gao Cuilan in Gao Laozhuang and thought it was Chang'e and chased after her. But Gao Cuilan was so scared when she saw Bajie's true body. Then the main storyline of Journey to West happens and they traveled to Pansi Cave. The reincarnated Purple Spider immediately recognized the Pigsy who had been thinking about him at first sight, the two fell in love. Pigsy also released Purple Spider during the journey (when they would usually kill yaoguais on the way). Purple Spider had Pigsy’s daughter and waited for Pigsy until she grew old. Because of Pigsy mistaking Cuilan as her before at Gao Lao Zhuang, Purple Spider said before his death, “you are still as stupid as before” (referring to him mistaking her before), and also referring to the Pigsy being terrified of reuniting with her for the fear of being dealt with by heaven.

This is a tragic love story. Bajie was originally a general in the Heavenly Court, but he was driven down to the mortal world and turned into a pig because he caught a glimpse of the private meeting between the emperor and the goddess. However, the palace maid deeply loved Bajie, and the similarity between pigs and spiders in the Chinese expression context led to the maid's conversion being wrong. When Bajie saw the maid again, he still recognized her at a glance and accepted each other's appearance. After a night of warmth, Bajie had a daughter, but he dared not recognize her as his wife because Bajie's fate did not allow him to have a wife and daughter. If he recognized her and his wife(The spider), he would be punished by the gods in heaven and lead to the destruction of his family. Therefore, Bajie chose to leave.
I watched the show when I was kid and if I remember correctly, the heaven curse him to never find a lover. Once they both fall in love, they both die. He challenged the curse and got killed then reincarnated multiple times. So maybe in this life he left her so he could protect both of them.
yea, i remember that. i believe in both the 1986 and 1996 tv show, they used the story line of zhu bajie being banished to the mortal realm for falling in love with chang'e and cursed to endure thousands of reincarnations where love ultimately kills him. in one tribulation, he accidentally slips and reincarnates in a pig den, becoming a pig and later given sentience by quanyin. he later cultivated to a pig demon while he waited for the fateful one to begin his journey to the west. in this story, it seems that he chanced upon the jade emperor cheating on his empress by secretly meeting with his "mistress", the moon goddess and banished zhu bajie to the mortal realm to keep his mouth shut about the infidelity. chang'e fell in love with him and left for the mortal realm to be with him yet she reincarnated as a spider and he ended up as a pig demon. zhu bajie can only protect her and his children by feigning ignorance of their relationship and provokes them to hide any real connection. it seems he fears the celestial court a lot since his senior brother, sun wukong, the ox king, and several other earthly demon kings were either killed or left in shambles after the seige against the court. nothing good will come with their reunion, so i guess it is his way of protecting them.

There is a Chinese poem that meas, "You stand on the bridge to enjoy the scenery, while some who enjoy the scenery are watching you from the tower." Here the man thinks the moonlight is on the bridge, while the woman thinks the moonlight is on the tower, because the man is looking at the scenery on the bridge, while the woman is looking at the man from the tower.
Man, the scene showing the course of changes to the maid just because she was willing to do anything for the general she love, that was so painful to watch. And the lyrics shows that too, i believe any decent man would be heart wrenching seeing someone go through all that just for him, but he can not love who he doesnt love, so we can only hope in the next life she wont look back at him, while the girl still wish in the next life, the man will look back at her. I watched the entire Journey to the West series when I was in second grade, which was 20 years ago. And I never thought there would come a day when I'd be jealous of Zhu Bajie, because someone genuinely loves him that much.

He was pretty dumb in the show though. He was even worse in the original novel, kept trying to white ant sun wukong and even got him kicked from the party. He was pretty much an agent of the Taoist faction sent to sabotage the journey to the west, which is why he ended up as a Taoist diety, rather than any kind of Buddha. I like there's an implication in the last scene transformations, as time went on, his love for her faded and she looked more and more like the monstrous spider, while as time went on for her, he transformed back into the man he was before. Though in game, upon showing him his likely daughter, he hesitates for a moment before going to reject her, maybe this is a lie though and his method of coping and forcing himself to help Wukong. In another circumstance, he would have stayed.
He knows what happened to the bull demon king when heaven decided to set things right. Abandonment is how he protects her. Him going on the quest with the destined one to bring back Wukong is the only way to rebel against heaven and protect his daughter.
That poor, poor man. I thought he was comic relief, not the saddest character in the entire game. Still, I love that bit at the end: Wukong and his friends gave him hope.

I dont see anyone else mentioning this in the comments but I find it interesting that the scene where Bajie saw the ladies bathing and how similar it was to another scene in another Chinese mythology called Niulang(牛郎)and zhinu(织女)literally meaning weaver girl (she was a daughter of the jade emperor but went down to the mortal world to play in secret) where Niulang chanced upon her and her sisters bathing as he fell In love with her at first sight.
The pig was cursed to never have a wife or a kid for a thousand lifetimes. Acknowledging any of them would bring calamity to either him or them. The AMV also tells a bit more story. This isn’t the first time they meet each other. They are soulmates so in every reincarnation they are destined to meet and fall in love. It never ends well for them. Even at their worst selves, being an ugly spider and a disgusting pig, they still love each other. The pig doesn’t want to meet her in the next life because it will always cause her grief or even cost her life. But the spider never regret meeting and falling in love with him and will continue to do so even in the next life. That’s why he made a very hurtful remark when he saw the Sixth Sister, who was implied to be his daughter in the journal. Cause its not gay couple😂😂

The worse part is that Jade emperor got away from everything, while Ba Jie paid the mistakes nothing he deserved
That's why some Chinese think it's a satire of a social phenomenon that family background determines your status and treatment

孫悟空, represent the actual complement person who help the Emperor
豬八戒, the second apprentice represent the incomplete, libelous vassal who easily persuade the Emperor, and looking for more comfort (women and food, in Bajie case)
With 沙悟淨 and 白龍馬 who only appear in this game flashback, represent normal citizens, who being honest and hard working, yet constantly get involved into trouble because the Emperor incompetent

First time I ever thought about that phrase like this! This is so genius. Bajie with a rake and Spider with silk.
To whom are confused by the chapter 4 ending, here is explanation:
Pigsy (Bajie), in his pursuit of Moon Goddess, accidentally bumped into Zi'er (the elder spider lady).
A small explaination for the part 03:06 - 03:16 (assume that you have already understood the story)
Gradually, she turns from human to monster (spider): she can not let go of her love (cause suffering, anger after waiting for so many years) leading to her misdeeds (killing, etc.), which is a part of monster's nature
Gradually, he turns from monster (pig) to human, he lets go of his love to embark on the journey approaching buddhahood (though, he stills feels sorry for her as he cries at the end)

Therefore, Bajie chose to leave.

yea, i remember that. i believe in both the 1986 and 1996 tv show, they used the story line of zhu bajie being banished to the mortal realm for falling in love with chang'e and cursed to endure thousands of reincarnations where love ultimately kills him. in one tribulation, he accidentally slips and reincarnates in a pig den, becoming a pig and later given sentience by quanyin. he later cultivated to a pig demon while he waited for the fateful one to begin his journey to the west.
in this story, it seems that he chanced upon the jade emperor cheating on his empress by secretly meeting with his "mistress", the moon goddess and banished zhu bajie to the mortal realm to keep his mouth shut about the infidelity. chang'e fell in love with him and left for the mortal realm to be with him yet she reincarnated as a spider and he ended up as a pig demon. zhu bajie can only protect her and his children by feigning ignorance of their relationship and provokes them to hide any real connection. it seems he fears the celestial court a lot since his senior brother, sun wukong, the ox king, and several other earthly demon kings were either killed or left in shambles after the seige against the court.
nothing good will come with their reunion, so i guess it is his way of protecting them.

Both: "In the next life"
(At the same time)
Male: "please say no"
Female: "please dont say no"

i love this cutscene so much, it gives so much more depth into Baije's character and adds so much weight to the final words in chapter 4
this scene made me tear up
why did this actually make me cry 😭
Fuck why is it raining indoors 🌧️
The general in the mirror is more handsome, which is why the fairy wants to be with him even if she turns into a spider monster.
But she still longs for him even after he turns into an ugly pig.
The fairy didn't love the general for his looks, she loved him for who he is. That's why she was still willing to love the general even tho he become a pig.
One of the rare times I teared up. Mostly because Zhu Bajie’s pig form looks cute and cuddly in this.

In chinese, one pig and one spider, are sound like the same. Someone said, the girl became a spider to find the boy when she heard that the boy was became one pig as a punish.
I watched the entire Journey to the West series when I was in second grade, which was 20 years ago. And I never thought there would come a day when I'd be jealous of Zhu Bajie, because someone genuinely loves him that much.
When i was a child, saw the JTTW 1986 film i always laughed at Baije, made joke about his simping, coward, every time his master was caught, he immediately want to disban the team and cancel the journey 😂. Now i'm an adult, play the game, watch the animation, hear the music, i realize that at that time i was just a dumb kid 😢
His character is very different and much more likeable in the game. He's never this brave, self sacrificial or smart in the original show or novel.
@@Kburn1985
Yep, Bajie is not big or fat like most iteration in this game, his punishment in OG novel was the result of his lust(in TVB version, he literally trying to separate Chang'e and her lover, by using Yuelao red rope, only the couple banish to the same place)
He somehow are thinner and cuter here
And then someone said "Black myth Wukong lacking DIVERSITY" !!
A love story between a spider and a pig. It's a hella diversity to me 😂
Just crazy ppl said that. Ignore them. They are still having episodes.
Because there are no homosexuals or transgender individuals😂

For those who don't know, the silver-haired lady is Chang'e - the moon goddess. She's the one you see on all the mooncake boxes during Mid-Autumn Festival.
But why Chang'e in Mobile Legends a loli tho?
@@garudanathanael5257 Fk Mobile Legends LOL
@@garudanathanael5257 Every creator will make changes based on his own ideas. For example, Zhu Bajie in Journey to the West is 3 meters tall, but he appears very short in the game.
shes not change bro
Her offcial title is tai yin great queen, 1 of 9 master of star, chang'e is in most version title of her handmaiden (it means that there are a lot of chang'e, but 1 tai yin)
What is crazy the main director of the game wrote this song specifically for this chapter and had it put together for such an incredible moment. Talk about a passion project game science delivers the whole way through❤
I like there's an implication in the last scene transformations, as time went on, his love for her faded and she looked more and more like the monstrous spider, while as time went on for her, he transformed back into the man he was before.

Fun fact maybe just a coincident the Chinese pronunciation of pig is (zhu), spider is (Zhi Zhu), “zhi” can mean knowing, understanding, knowing. (zhi Zhu)knowing and understanding the pig

Bajie: Oh dayum. Let's fck then.
Violet Spider: Heck yeah!
More like:
“可我是只猪啊。”
“蜘蛛?我也是啊。”
When they transform in the beast form, Dose it represent they show what really they are, not hidden anything to their lover?
i think so. it does not matter what/who actually they are at that time.
YES!
This was the 2nd animation that genuinely made me tear up.
May all beings purify all karmic negativity and attain lasting happiness 🙏🏻❤
Bajie's reincarnations if you slow down each frame are so sad he always ended up alone knowing he can't love anyone
Well, many people believe that the man in blue is the Jade Emperor, but a post interview with Black Myth Wukong revealed that this guy was forcibly added by the animation team. In order to join this guy, the animation team is willing to give the Black Myth team a 20% discount, so now this guy is known as the God of 20% in China!

I have never read journey to the west or know of its story’s. But there is something magical about not knowing what you are watching but still being moved by what is happening.
This… this is beautiful…
Truly beautiful
This was such a beautiful gaming moment, it's so rare to see something so beautifully put together in a video game these days. It reminded me of FF8 when Squall found Rinoa in space and they played that beautiful song Eyes on Me
This may be my favorite animated scene in this game so far

The OG main characters
I just cry...
This song is chill
A girl who recognized you even when you literally catfished her is a true keeper ❤❤❤
He probably doesn’t want his daughter to recognize that fact as well to save her from the Heavenly Court.
They are not just star-crossed lovers, but star-crossed soulmates. That is even more hurtful. 😢

Why do they got me crying in the club right now😭

"What did he reincarnate as?"
"A pig."
"Then I'll reincarnate as a spider."
Falling into the mortal realm, he held a rake, yet could never plow through the furrows of longing. She spun her silk, but could never untangle the web of love.
A man farming and a woman weaving-this is the purest form of romance for the Chinese.
"You're still the same as before... so clumsy."
So clumsy that, at the moment of parting, all he could do was lift his head, keeping the tears from falling.
