*CHRISTOCENTRIC MEAL* *DR ABEL DAMINA* *TUESDAY APRIL 19, 2022* *THE REALITY OF THE WORD* *1st Peter 1:23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.* The believer is born again by the word. God and his word are one. John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. Hence the believer’s first appreciation must be the word. Since the believer is born of the word, he must hold the word of God in high esteem and regard it above all human experiences. 2nd Timothy 3:15 And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. The words “holy scriptures” refer to the sacredness of the writings. They are to be held in high esteem. Believers many times have so much confidence in natural things and no confidence in spiritual things. For example, a man puts his house key absentmindedly into the lock and expects the door to open. A man sits on a chair without praying and expects the chair to hold his weight. However when it comes to Christianity, many believers do not think it is real. This is usually due to lack of teaching of God’s word and a focus on frivolities in the local church. When believers are not taught who they are in Christ and are instead fed with frivolities, their confidence is greatly reduced because they have no knowledge of the Christian life. A man is able to build conviction in the things that he hears consistently. Christianity is a reality and believers ought to be confident about the Christian life. The believer therefore needs to understand what happened at salvation and to come to that reality. Philemon 1:6 That the communication of thy faith may become effectual by the acknowledging of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus. In essence, the participation in what you have believed will become effectual by your acknowledging of every good thing which is in you in Christ. The word “acknowledging” means to have correct understanding. There are several things you must appreciate and understand that are in you in Christ Jesus. If you don't know those things, you will have a bumpy Christian walk. You must appreciate everything. That means there are things you must know. You will know this when the word is held in high esteem and not regarded less than the experiences, philosophies, or visions of men. CONFESSION: I hold the Word in high esteem. I do not regard any man’s vision or experiences above the word. I choose to know the things that are in me in Christ.
