The righteousness is related to Jesus finished work which is imputed to the believer (nature of the believer). Yes, there is fruit of righteousness. But just because the believer does not exihibts the fruits it does not "cancel" his/her righteous standing with God!

Where is the Righteousness of God revealed? In the gospel. How? By faith - Romans 1, 16- 17.
