I knew a civic would feature, they are awesome little lightweight cars that will take a beating all day long and still ask for more. Ep3 and Ek9 are the best ones
Had to include the Civic, i've had nearly every shape Civic going. I love the older chassis's more. My favourite being the EF9 but they're all pretty amazing cars, way ahead of their time 😀
Didn't expect to see the Octavia on this list :) drive a MK2 myself. Never bloody find a 4x4 these days tho :/ (although there's a really nice 4x4 turbo in my town I badly want shhah)
I never really thought about a Clio as a track to be honest. I just think it's French so it's shite & forget all about them! Skoda Octavia VRS is a great shout. There was one for sale in Sheffield at the start of this year, absolutely mint inside and out only 80,000 miles with full Skoda service history and it was £1500. Mental! Needless to say it had sold within the day of listing! 😂
To be honest you wouldn't catch me in a Clio either just because i'm used to Japanese reliability but they're extremely popular at a lot of the tracks i've been to and they're suprisingly quick when they're working 😂 It's a bit of a forgotten gem the mk1 Octavia, i think because it was one of the first decent cars Skoda made people forget about it. I personally think it looks better than the equivilent VW's and Audis that the VW Audi group were putting out at the time as well.
Nice vid.. I had a JDM Type S RX8 (supposedly 249hp) and it was an absolute blast to drive. Also like your other video where the E46 topped the list... I also have a JZ swapped E46 which is a fun car but not so much as the RX8.
I've been considering changing my mps 3 for an rx8, it's the horror stories of reliability that put me off, bad time to sell my mps though... Great video.👍
I own a Mazda RX8 Prodrive. Have done since January 2019 and I have not had a single issue with it. It's a cracking car, don't be put off by the keyboard warriors who don't know how to look after a car or someone that has never owned one but feel they are entitled to comment. They're idiots. If you want one, get one. Just do your research first on the cars you want to look at, make sure there's a recent compression test with it, if it doesn't then ask & if they refuse then don't even bother with it. If you haven't already seen it then LeadFoot has a cracking buyers guide on RX8's well worth checking out. Hope that helps. 😊👍
@@TheMoaningYorkshireman Thanks for the info, I've been lurking over at rx8oc and noted the common faults, if I did get one it would be a weekend car so a high maintenance car wouldn't be a problem... I'll have a look at the video you recommended.👍
@@Althemusicman1 Yeah mine is a weekend car too. Awesome for those country road blasts, before lockdown anyway. 🙄 I took mine for a reset service to Rotary Revs in Leeds. Just for peace of mind going into the new year and the only thing they found was it was the original toe links so they'll need replacing but everything else was fine, no other issues. 👍 I bought mine from a one man band dealership called Vogue Auto Group in Mansfield, if you are near there I would highly recommend him as he deals in more specialist cars such as the RX8 and he sells at affordable prices as well. Hope that helps you anyway. I've never driven an MPS but heard they're a lot of fun. 😊
@@Althemusicman1 i've had an MPS and an RX8 and i have to say. The MPS was way more problematic. They were both great cars though but totally different animals. The RX8 needs a rebuild eventually but even when you factor that in it's still a super cheap rwd sports car. Closest thing to it is probably an S2000 which is literally 10 times more expensive now.
@@TheMoaningYorkshireman I live near to the Brecon Beacons, I think it would be a blast around the b-roads, I'm very tempted to take a look at a couple of cars when this lockdown is over. Coincidentally I had some work done to my mps in Mansfield with a specialist last year, I'll keep them in mind. Cheers.👍
Love this video mainly because you included the RX8 😊 I’ve had a 192 for a year and a half now and has been absolutely faultless but I have gone to lengths to give it the servicing it needs every 3k miles or so. I would argue that the 192 I have is also very capable as it has more torque and is only 5-10hp off the 231 in terms of actual flywheel HP, and you can easily make that up with a couple of subtle mods. Especially if the engine is in good condition then it’s on par with the 231 but the gearbox definitely lets it down as 4th is a horrendously long gear. So the 6 speed gearbox is a nice upgrade for the 192. And the 192 also responds better now to engine porting and will produce a lot more torque as well as power across the rev range compared to the 231 losing some drivability with aggressive porting and only really making its power very high up the rev range. Overall great video though 👍
I've owned an RX8 Nemesis too that was also a 192, there's not a huge amount of difference in the 192 and 231 tbh but i suggested the 231 mainly because of it being a higher revving engine and a little easier to tune but like you say either would be great 😁
LeadFoot TV yep you’re exactly right in saying that 😊 and I actually subscribed to your channel pretty much when I got the RX8 because you had one at the time...and yep the 192 needs a little work to allow it to rev that high...a 231 stationary gear bearing and a higher pressure oil regulator which can be bought from Essex Rotary. And obviously it needs to be mapped.
I had a 172 cup for £400 needing work was a good car until I done a u-turn in an unlit road not even fast (thought there was a lay by but the wasn't) hit the curb and drives haft must have pushed into the box and cracked it. Havnt had loads of cars but was by far the most fun car I've had so far. Currently after a rx8 they sound the best value for fun apart from the maintenance, I'm a mechanic for 5 years but never worked on one. And not finding a civic type r for less then 2k with everyone calling them future classics, price seems to have doubled on them in the last 2 years I was after one aswell.
There are still a few EP3's about for less than 2k. Managed to find a few while i was looking for this video but you're right, they are going up in price slowly. As for the RX8, just do a bit of research before you buy one, i have a few videos from when i had mine that might help. They're not as complicated as they seem, basically just a big 2 stroke engine and if you're a mechanic you'll be able to do a lot of the maintenance yourself 🙂
