Ok , this is cool to hear their early sound. I can’t say it’s better but it’s definitely way less produced. Really dynamic but reminds me of me and my rocker buddies with a 4 track recorder in our garage in 1986. Thanks for the upload. Dons singing is really good here.

No this is why they had issues in the band. Don had the vocals turned up and the guitar hollowed out which is why Lynch eventually split.

This album was recorded before Lynch Pilson and Brown joined the band per Don Dokken in a later interview..BUT, just think what might have been if Don Dokken had replaced Claus Mein of the Scorpions (it was a done deal but Claus made a miraculous recovery) and if Lynch had actually got to record with Ozzh Osborne after Randy Rhodes died ( George officially had the gig to replace Rhodes for 3 days until Ozzies wife and Manage Sharon decided to go with Jacki Lee because he looked prettier…TRUE STORY) just think what might or what might NIG have been

*Ok so after lot of researching this is my version how EU version of album was made:* Recording for Breakin' The Chains probably started in late summer of 1981. Don Dokken went to Germany some time prior to actual recording and made studio demos which helped Dokken to be signed by Carrere few weeks later. These songs apparently were "Paris", "Young Girls" and "Stick To Your Guns" (tracks B1 to B3 on 1981 LP). Line up for this was Don Dokken (vocals/guitar) joined by Peter Baltes from Accept on bass and Bobby Blotzer (former Don Dokken's drummer between 1976-1978 when they were known as Airborn). In meantime, when record deal was probably already signed the rest of the band made it to Europe (except Juan Croucier) but recorded only the rest of the songs from LP (tracks A1-A5 and B4-B5 on 1981 LP) because they probably didn't want to waste time/money re-recording the first 3. So the line-up for these was Don Dokken - vocals/guitar, George Lynch - guitar, Peter Baltes - bass and Mick Brown - drums. What do you think?

about 90% of everything on this version is on the remix.
Most of the vocals, all the guitars, all the drums.
If you listen to both versions, you can totally tell what was added or changed.
Guitars were added and some "re-amped" (a process where the tape track is fed into an amplifier and re-recorded) and some bass changed and some sampled on the drums to make them sound bigger on the remix.
Obviously, the vocals to "We're Illegal" are all redone with new lyrics, and "Stick To Your Guns" has a new bassline, some new guitars and vocals.

I was really interested and excited to hear this Euro mixed and released of the first Dokken album. I was expecting something really cool sonically. Some people think this Euro version/mix is better than the US mix? Hmmm.... That's like thinking that UFO's albums are rich and full recordings. BTW, I LOVE UFO, and all their albums. However, their albums sound as thin as this mix. The only thing this Euro mix has over the rather compressed sounding and feeling sound, is the over use of reverb, on both the vocals and guitar. So, no, I do not and can not agree that this mix is "better" than the US release. Why? Because it's just not.

Question: "What do the seven thunders in Revelation 10:1-7 mean?"
Answer: The seven thunders appear in Revelation 10:1-7. In his apocalyptic vision, the apostle John saw a mighty angel striding the sea and the land with a scroll in his hand. The angel gave a shout like the roar of a lion, and then the voices of the seven thunders spoke. Just as John was about to write down what they said, a voice from heaven told him to “seal up what the seven thunders have said and do not write it down” (Revelation 10:4).
The incident of the seven thunderous voices occurs in the interlude between the sixth and seventh trumpets. The seven thunders are not just the usual noise of thunder but are thunder-like voices communicating a message. The Greek word translated “thunder” means “to roar.” Thunder is often a mark of judgment in Scripture as in 1 Samuel 2:10, 2 Samuel 22:14, and several more places in Revelation (8:5, 11:19, 16:18), so these seven powerful voices are crying out for God’s judgment upon the sinful earth. The thunder represents the voice of God. Psalm 18:13 says, “The LORD thundered from heaven; the voice of the Most High resounded.”
Further evidence of the seven thunders being the voice of God is in Revelation 4:5: “From the throne came flashes of lightning, rumblings and peals of thunder. Before the throne, seven lamps were blazing. These are the seven spirits of God.” Again the voice of God is depicted as thunderous rumblings that display the power, majesty and glory of our mighty Lord. In this verse, John saw a preview of the divine wrath to be poured out on the earth as described in full in Revelation chapters 16-19.
Just as John was about to write the words of the seven thunders, a voice from heaven commands him to seal up what was revealed by them. The same throne that issues forth lightning and peals of thunder issues a command to keep secret what the voices have revealed. The reason for the sealing is not given, but it could be that the judgment was simply too terrifying to be recorded. The content of the message is never revealed in Scripture, so we can’t speculate on it. The seven thunders are the only words in Revelation that are sealed.

@@DR676767 really? Is Don a Born Again Believer in Christ Jesus? You must be Born Again to enter the Kingdom of God.
Nicodemus *said to Him, “How can a man be born when he is old? He cannot enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born, can he?” Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Do not be amazed that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’ The wind blows where it wishes and you hear the sound of it, but do not know where it comes from and where it is going; so is everyone who is born of the Spirit.”

Okay. Great musical discussion. BTW, God is spelled always with capital "G" for you all prophets that love to throw your shift on others.

Yea the us mix is so much better and the live version of Paris is burning is so much better than the studio version.

I agree, the re-mix adds much needed depth and dynamics, and this original version sounds kind of 70's blah, and Dokken sounds better with a more "80's" type mix.

@@_vixen_4504 that guitar solo at the beginning of the live version sets that song off.

It’s an interesting listen, but I think the U.S mix is better, there’s too much reverb on this one for my taste.
