it's incredible all you can get from a melomaniac narcissist when you push the right buttons. I feel sorry for the amount of crap his bandmates need to hear from him every time he opens up his mouth. Excellent interview. I'm a huge DOKKEN fan since 1987. In my opinion, 'Back For The Attack' is one the greatest guitar albums ever. Unfortunately, Don DOKKEN sometimes comes off as delusional, stating that his solo on 'Too High To Fly' was better than George LYNCH's. Come on? That's like Sammy HAGAR stating that one of his solos was better than Edward VAN HALEN's. George LYNCH may have his quirks, but he's not delusional; on the contrary, Mr. LYNCH is one of the most talented musicians, and George is humble and gracious to other musicians. I can appreciate why George and Don never clicked. I highly doubt DOKKEN played to 60,000-80,000 people in Texas in 2003 (when Jon LEVIN joined).
Big fan of both Don and George, but I'm really baffled by his statement about George only playing that one solo. First, there is no solo on 'Too High to Fly' (which I always thought was a shame). Second, many of the solos on that record (Shadows of Life, Hole In My Head, If The Good Die Young, The Maze, etc) are clearly played by George because he has such a unique style that isn't easily replicated, and certainly not by Don (even though Don was actually a great lead player at one time).
@@VidCruzer82 I'm also a fan of Don and George. I purchased both LYNCH MOB and Don's 'Up From The Ashes'. Don DOKKEN is full of you know what. One only needs to look at 'Dysfunctional' songwriting credits to see he's lying about George LYNCH's contributions. LYNCH was a requirement of the record deal with Columbia Records. Don's also stated that 'Dysfunctional' went gold in the U.S. 'Dysfunctional' sold a respectable 200,000 units but nowhere near 500,000 units. The Soundscan era doesn't lie. I don't understand why Don needs to put George down to elevate himself. Don's story about Warren De Martini in DOKKEN is another fabrication. George recorded 'Breaking The Chains' in Germany in 1981.
Thank you Don Dokken for being so real, your a true inspiration, and you really speak about todays world how it changed..its very heart felt.. you speak the truth..you are a nice person.. Thankyou Dokken....
Just because it took Def Leppard 4 years to write Pyromania doesn't mean it's better than On Through The Night or High and Dry. Metallica wrote all of Ride The Lightning in about 2 months. There are so many other examples of artists who wrote albums in a short period of time that are better than most other artists who spent years on 1 album...so you're wrong there Donny Boy. You're also wrong about The Beatles first album being mostly cover songs. Over half the album of Please, Please Me was written by Lennon/McCartney. I think what you meant was that they were a cover band before they GOT SIGNED. get your facts straight, dude.
My ex wife was like that back when I played the Hollywood circuit. She assumed because I'm in a popular band and playing these gigs then I'm automatically cheating on her. So she was always up my grill ha ha. Did I mention she's my ex? lol
This was a great interview Chuck! I meant to leave a comment, but I ended up watching the George Lynch one right after this. Don Is a very interesting guy. Very forthright.. look forward to hearing this new album!
They didn't steal it. They only prevented him from using it without them. Let's be honest the band Dokken without George and Jeff isn't really Dokken. Don was gready and admitted to be an ego maniac. He should have split the money 4 ways
Also Don's likes to rewrite history. If George came in and only recorded one solo on the album dysfunctional why does he have 4 song writing credits on the album?? And he co wrote most of Breaking the chains which Don claims was all him
I love Don and the rest of the guys, I just wish they would bury the hatchet. I've been a fan since lock and key came out. I was 12 or something. Quit jabbing each other!
I think they sorta have… but all the members doing other things. Maybe they’ll get together for a one off show here or there. Rock n Roll Hall of Fame?
Very interesting biography. I am a solo artist and can relate to Don. Being 50 and how it all changed since the plandemic, getting into a world of reflection and taking it to another level
Hey Don I'm always watching 👀 😉, my current favorite of today's world is Chris Daughtry, a true metal head you'd probably love him he's your speed ect, anyway Chris Daughtry now does a live cast on his page strictly for the fans for like a little over an hour where we can ask him questions and he answers really cool it would be great if you would consider doing it he's doing it often, it's better than getting attacked in public every where you go, and you answer one's you want ect and yes I've seen Chris get mad at some people too 😉 😘
@ChuckShute hey man can you answer me one question about the new dokken record,? You seem to have heard the entire thing... is the song I remember on this record a different song than the track of the same title on 2008s Album lighting strikes again?
For years, I've only heard George interviews. Had no clue that Don was doing as many interviews as he has. Gotta say, I really enjoy hearing things from his perspective, how relatable he is, and the matter-of-fact nature to the things he reveals with no angst. Clearly an interview with Don is going to be a highlight if the interviewer has the chops. Definitely the case here. Great job, Chuck. I think a follow-up video of Dokken's guitar player Jon Levin, would be absolutely fascinating. Imaging; Juggling a career as a successful Beverly Hills lawyer, and moonlighting as an butt kicking hard rock guitar player and song writer. And still, having to make time for family. How could a lawyer even possible maintain a practice while out on the road doing gigs. Blows my mind.
Thank you, I appreciate it. And yes, actually I’ve had on George and Jon Levin, as well as Jeff Pilson. Check those out if you have time. Thanks again 🤘🤘

Second, many of the solos on that record (Shadows of Life, Hole In My Head, If The Good Die Young, The Maze, etc) are clearly played by George because he has such a unique style that isn't easily replicated, and certainly not by Don (even though Don was actually a great lead player at one time).
@@VidCruzer82 interesting, other people thought it sounded like John Norum.
Wow. Nancy Pelosi died. When did this happen?
I think he misspoke. I’m assuming he meant Diane Feinstein.
I like Lynch over DeMartini
Imo they became famous as a group. If he tried to release up from the ashes as Dokken people would have assumed George, Jeff and Mick we’re on it.
U can have them old geezer, Don, i like em young
😂😂
1:13:05 am not sure about that, seems different on the record than what he says, but superb interview nevertheless
Thanks for watching! 🤘🏻🤘🏻
TRUTH... Remember that crap.....Bless you man....
Thanks for watching!
Dont worry, I know everything about dokken, from drugs, sex, fighting, EVERYTHING! Even tho im 13😂
Thanks for watching! 🤘🏻🤘🏻
Did I mention she's my ex? lol
Haha 😂
Tour Europe?! Yeah!!! Great News!! Can't wait! =D Do you need an opening act?! ;-)
This was a great interview Chuck! I meant to leave a comment, but I ended up watching the George Lynch one right after this. Don Is a very interesting guy. Very forthright.. look forward to hearing this new album!
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching and commenting! I hope you enjoy the new album too! 🤘🏻🤘🏻
Never realized the band"Stole" his name. How can you steal Dokken, it's his real name.
Yeah that’s crazy
They didn't steal it. They only prevented him from using it without them. Let's be honest the band Dokken without George and Jeff isn't really Dokken. Don was gready and admitted to be an ego maniac. He should have split the money 4 ways
Also Don's likes to rewrite history.
If George came in and only recorded one solo on the album dysfunctional why does he have 4 song writing credits on the album??
And he co wrote most of Breaking the chains which Don claims was all him
Incredible interview. Could have been 4 hrs
Glad you enjoyed it!
He should quit cigarettes..maybe he would sound better..I don't like his voice now a days...✌️
Race relations with Don Dokken
He’s a gem 🤦🏻♂️😂🤣🙏
Very interesting biography. I am a solo artist and can relate to Don. Being 50 and how it all changed since the plandemic, getting into a world of reflection and taking it to another level
The Donald Trump of rock & roll.
Haha that’s funny
Hey Don I'm always watching 👀 😉, my current favorite of today's world is Chris Daughtry, a true metal head you'd probably love him he's your speed ect, anyway Chris Daughtry now does a live cast on his page strictly for the fans for like a little over an hour where we can ask him questions and he answers really cool it would be great if you would consider doing it he's doing it often, it's better than getting attacked in public every where you go, and you answer one's you want ect and yes I've seen Chris get mad at some people too 😉 😘
Thanks for watching! 🤘🏻🤘🏻
I play the guitar and became right handed because of the war. Everything is right handed in war.
Hey Chuck...if you ever speak to Don again because I probably not get a chance tell him thank you from me for all they have given us
Will do
@ChuckShute hey man can you answer me one question about the new dokken record,? You seem to have heard the entire thing... is the song I remember on this record a different song than the track of the same title on 2008s Album lighting strikes again?
@@gregorypeck1606 interesting, it sound very different to me. And different lyrics. But same title. Weird.
@ChuckShute cool I'm happy to hear that it's different .
Well done interview Chuck. Thank you Don for the stories
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching!
At 24 minutes Don talks about fainting from an ENT procedure. I literally had the same thing happen to me for the same reason....crazy
Sorry to hear it
For years, I've only heard George interviews.
Tore his 'larnyx?' Lol. The word is larynx and no, you can't tear it.
Don should know as an artist..no human being is illegal....
KEEP ROCKIN' DON DOKKEN!!!!!!!!!!
@@neilsimon544 🤘🤘
Don should pay it forward and never touch a microphone again he sounds sedated on stage.
I never got the strip club thing either, getting yourself all worked up
I always liooked at Dokken as pure entertainment and never played any songs.
Man I miss my Rode mic and filter.. had same one you do there Chuck. sold it when needed funds for more guitars LOL.
It’s a great mic!
I saw Dokken in PA. in 2021 with my 24 yo daughter. Lynch was with them, played a few at the end. Both my daughters know Dokken and other early 80's metal. I raised them right. It was good to see Dokken, as he said in this interview - all songs are "A" songs. Truth!
Thanks for watching!
Great f’n interview!! Best I’ve ever seen, great job. Love ya Don, new album is great - dokkendude
Thanks for watching! Appreciate the compliment! 🤘🏻🤘🏻
Great interview !, you're good and you get a new subscriber, an interview with Robert Morse naturopath would be great too, thanks Chuck !👍👍
Thank you! I’ll look in to Robert.
Dokken loves docking
🤣
