Thanks for coming to Kayenta, Az, Also that rock you were asking about is called El Cap and the one to your right was Owl Rock, I work at the Fire Department.
If it were not for Mike Riding Shotgun we would never see these awesome places. I show these videos to my student, we have 8 of these in our classrooms. Thank you, Mike. Please don't stop
Thank you for the trip through Monument Valley. I drove through there in 1976, but going the other way. My mom always wanted to see MV and the Grand Canyon. In 2004 we took our last road trip to Moab. I tried to convince her that Moab really wasn't all that far from Grand Canyon and Monument Valley was on the way, but she said no. She passed almost exactly 10 years later.
I took my mom to see Grand Canyon and Monument Valley a few years ago. We started early at Grand Canyon, reached MV by mid-afternoon, and reached Moab while the restaurants were still open--all in the same day. I wish you were able to do the same with your mom. Always in spirit though.
The Utah, Colorado, Arizona and New Mexico quartile is some of my favourite landscapes in the US. Hard not to love the semi arid desert, the bushes, the rocky monuments and the bluest of skies. The desert really does take your imagination places; makes you think!. Thanks for posting.
Drivers you don't know how much it means to me to get to see these places you go.As I was hurt in Texas wind storm an didn't get to live out my whole career. Thank all of you.Red Irish Rose
Drove through the area from Durango, Colorado to Williams, Arizona. Listened to Native American music all the way through Monument Valley. It was an awesome and beautiful drive. My imagination ran wild thinking of all the Indians that used to roam that area before automobiles were invented and highways were built. Would love to go back someday. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks for another great video. Welcome to AZ. You have the best dash can videos on TH-cam. They make me want to sell my business and drive a truck. My dad was a truck driver and I used to ride shotgun with him when I was a kid. Keep up the outstanding work.
Thank you for the ride i am glad you got to see this part of the country side Clear blue sky, lotta bugs and beautiful monuments. Gas prices very high too. And get back to norm would b great from this pandemic . All in all thank you for sharing the trip .
It's nice to see so many people appreciating this, #metoo! Beautiful blue sky and red rock. Reminds me of the cross-country road trip I took from CA to TX to FL 18 years ago.
Wow.nice.i love the navajo people.i miss bein in a big rig.rode shotgun from florida to nv.in 05. We cut thru utah goin back east.went thru co.right past the river.i wish i coulda gone with you.i loved it our west.wanna go back so bad.only ridin in a big rig.thanx for takin me along.
Went to window rock Arizona with my church group to do some work for the Navajo people. Lots of people hurting financially in that town. Thanks for the ride.
Ralphy Villa hi! It was awesome. Was years ago in September. It was really hot. Painted and cleaned a school. Sang a couple songs. Played games with the kids.. Natives cooked a dinner on the last nightand told stories. so didn't get to explore too much. We did get to go to the Rock with the window. Was really cool to see in person. For sure it was worth a visit. Are you from Window Rock? Or been?
@@jackquick5101 I'm not sure what your point is. They may be descended from the people that came here via the land/ice bridge from Siberia but were here way before white Europeans so I consider them native people.
English oldtimer again. I've travelled this route many times but down the Moki Dugway from Blanding. Still in Utah at Mexican Hat, so can buy liquor on the res. Stopped at the Navajo Trading Post and Inn for breakfast right by that narrow bridge over the San Juan river. Fantastic red rock country, pity your windscreen had all those suicidal bugs at rest! Love the Southwestern States.
Agathla Peak is a peak south of Monument Valley, Arizona, over 1500 feet high. It is 7 miles north of Kayenta and is visible from U.S. Route 163. The English designation Agathla is derived from the Navajo name aghaałą́ meaning 'much wool', apparently for the fur of antelope and deer accumulating on the rock. The mountain is considered sacred by the Navajo.
I used to go to Arizona 2 -3 times a Month and Boise idaho From Colchester VT delivering Duck work Pcs to 2 Big Intell construction sites was awesome and 3200 miles and in winter here in New England was nice getting out great Video
Time 18:40 with narrow conical peak off to the left at about 11 o'clock - "Agathla Peak" according to Google Earth. Jagged as a shark's tooth, Agathla Peak looms over the landscape near Kayenta in the Navajo Nation, Arizona.
I've driven through here accidentally(got lost) in my Kenworth hauling to Albuquerque. Interesting sites, but always feared getting a flat because there is practically no shoulder.
Thanks for the road video most people shut the camera off after their selfie with something spectacular in the background with their face in front of it!
Wife and I drove through Ciba New Mexco in 1996. There was a cadillac parked outside the restaurant there, a yellow convertible I think, that had a bumper sticker on it that said "God bless John Wayne".
That was neat! I love riding shotgun! Your routes take you into some areas that look desolate. Interesting military museum. Haven't seen a G.I. Joe doll in eons.
when passing thru Kayenta, if u get a chance, try the Blue Corn pancakes at The Blue Coffee Pot. don't miss the local folklore history lesson on the menu. my wife especially likes the Hot Chocolate there and the glass mugs it is served in. they even offer Cayenne pepper as a condiment rite on the tables. thanx for the trip down memory lane.
I used drive a 18 wheeler with my ex husband. We would run with my sister and her husband. After I got my divorce I let my CDL license go. I have regrets about that now. I went to driving school. I have trouble backing because at first we hauled sticks. Then we brought our own truck and trailer. I took my two little dogs along with us. It got to where he wanted me to drive 14 hours at a time while he slept. I started in that truck from 85 to 92 and I got out. I want to start something new. I started my own business at home. Thank you for the video.
Got a very brief somewhat distorted glimpse of what you look like as you where in mc e dees looking at a glass desplay Cass, not that your wanted or anything just trying to put a face on the voice, as always great video, thanks for sharing, be cool.
There was a time when all the country look this way. There was no getting to the next town. It was finding your resources living near water living in this beautiful area with no Road
I had the good fortune of driving through Monument Valley is a great experience someone asked me where my favorite place to drive was it's always Monument Valley and most of them don't know where it is Common People anyway.Red Irish Rose
El Capitan is the name of that rock climbing formation just before k-town, & too bad about Anasazi Inn & the little cafe that burned down a couple years ago at Tsegi, about 10-12 miles down past Kayenta, sure gonna miss getting the Big "Coal Miners Special" first thing in the morning, on the way to work at Peabody.
A lot of people hate Banning Scale .I hate Florida's Love Bug's. Very hard to clean off truck Red Irish Rose. Carry windex to clean between stops.Use cola soda in washer in winter the acid in drink will take off oil from the road rain washes it off.
10/10 but you realy shouldn't cut any second of the Valley part like you did at 10:31. The view was worth any second of the film, c'mon. I would love to see all the way from Mexican Hat to Kayenta without any interruptions. Anyway, good to see you driving thru Rockies and West since JBG stuck on East for good.
A lot of people will never get to see these places in person because of poor health or bad finances. Thx so much for taking us along for the ride.
👍THATS TRUTH RIGHT THERE M8
Thanks for coming to Kayenta, Az, Also that rock you were asking about is called El Cap and the one to your right was Owl Rock, I work at the Fire Department.

I love Monument Valley! My wife and I were there in April, 2017. Totally awe inspiring.
Beautiful scenery, reminds me of the old Route 66 in a lot of ways.
Great scenery. Love how the speed limit went from 65, to 55, to 45, to 35 in short order. Thanks for the video.
Yea if that was that town off of 301 in Fl you would get a ticket im sure
lol
Thanks for another great video. Welcome to AZ. You have the best dash can videos on TH-cam. They make me want to sell my business and drive a truck. My dad was a truck driver and I used to ride shotgun with him when I was a kid. Keep up the outstanding work.

Haven't been home in 20 years.
Hopefully by next year I'll be home.
Beautiful country! A lot of western movies we’re filmed back in the day.
Wow shot gun riding today was on the scenic byways excellent viewing !
I passed through Kayenta about a year ago, and went through last year I was amazed how much it has grown.
I worked there 20 years ago. Drove through about 3 years ago and was surprised to see the hospital'
Amazing scenery Thanks for the ride along 👍
Wow!! Thanks for the tour! I’m in Ga, would love to get out there!
2:29 Mexican Hat is outside the reservation. That is why they sell beer there. You entered the reservation where you saw the Navajo Nation Law sign.
I thought the Navajo were Native People not Mormons. They really don't sell alcohol on the reservation?
@@jackquick5101 I'm not sure what your point is. They may be descended from the people that came here via the land/ice bridge from Siberia but were here way before white Europeans so I consider them native people.
This ride was a treat! Thanks for taking us along.

Love that ride! Hope to take my wife there in the fall, stay at Goulding’s hotel, stayed there many years ago. Gets really dark out there at night.
I used to go to Arizona 2 -3 times a Month and Boise idaho From Colchester VT delivering Duck work Pcs to 2 Big Intell construction sites was awesome and 3200 miles and in winter here in New England was nice getting out great Video
I agree with those who mention seeing the scenery. I'm disabled, so will never be on my bucket list. Thank you
Felt like I was Ridin with ya ! Great video, PEACE!
That left hand turn at 3.50! How commercial buildings were allowed to be built on the other side of the sign there is mind-blowing. Dangerous!!
I live on the rez or reservation and its something I love seeing growing
scenery in this video is awesome

A great truck driver.
Foothills of the Grand Canyon? I visited the Grand Canyon what a spooky place! I could sense ancient spirits in the wind.!
Ancient huge tree stumps! But the books want to tell you otherwise!
