For those of you that think Jedi’s release command was weak. The offender was actively beating the dog, had the dogs mussel fighting him. The dog (police K9) did his job which was protecting himself and his partner.

AKsleepygirl I know that with other types of service dogs, they are trained to be able to take commands from other people. If that cop got stuck in the thorns and another cop had to detained the suspect, they should be able to give release commands.

What's awesome about K9 units is the dog is just out for a walk in the woods with his handler having a great time until it's time to spring into action then wham, he's a dedicated cop ready to take down the bad guy......what a goo boy! And the best part? He's more n happy to get a chew ball as a reward lol.

@hhhk20 99.9% of the time police dogs won't listen to the release command the first time. They get caught in the heat of the moment just like us humans do sometimes. From my experience its very common for k9's to have to be pried of suspects as in this video. Don't wanna get bit don't run from the police lol
"If you don't run the dog doesn't go after you." Its true. If you stand still and don't fight the dog doesn't really know what to do as they train against people who are fighting and/or fleeing. Dogs are lucky they cannot be charged with excessive biting 'cause he was gnawing on that guys tail end and coming back for seconds. Run from dog, get gnawed on by dog.

Far more good officers than bad, it's just like customer reviews online - people go out of their way to complain when things aren't right, but it's rare for someone to give glowing reviews when things are great.
I love the enthusiasm these dogs show in doing their job. I’ve seen countless k9 vids and these dogs love what they do. Like any working dog, it gives them purpose. What a combination, being a dog lover and a cop. What a team!!

Hi, just wanted to put it out there k9 Jedi unfortunately passed away about a week ago while police where responding to a burglary in progress they where chasing the guy as he had a knife is his hand and when k9 Jedi handlers let him lose the guy unfortunately stabbed him 2-4 In his face and he handler was shot/injured. May Jedi Rest In Peace!!!!
I remember when Jedi was killed. I’m a Seattleite. Watching this makes me so sad. Such a beautiful dog. His fellow officer obviously cared a great deal for him.
Too bad that not all K-9s have vests. So sad when I hear of one of them shot or stabbed to death by the criminal. These vests saves lives and these wonderful and dedicated dogs deserve as much protection as the human officers. It’s the humans who put these dogs in these situations. PROTECT THEM! They are cops too and they too want to go home to their human family.

I remember when Jedi was killed. I’m a Seattleite. Watching this makes me so sad. Such a beautiful dog. His fellow officer obviously cared a great deal for him.

Too bad that not all K-9s have vests. So sad when I hear of one of them shot or stabbed to death by the criminal. These vests saves lives and these wonderful and dedicated dogs deserve as much protection as the human officers. It’s the humans who put these dogs in these situations. PROTECT THEM! They are cops too and they too want to go home to their human family.
And unfortunately, Jedi got stabbed to death. Rest in peace Jedi.
