It's about time Judges get held accountable. How many children do they sentence to their death because of their decisions. There are countless cases like this!!!!!
And it took YEARS for anyone with police or DCS to even notice... this case is such a shame and it all could have been prevented with a little common sense.

The judge just didn't care that the mother had a good reason not to attend that date and just gave this little girl to her father in his rage at her without a care for Harmony's wellbeing knowing he was a no good POS.
That angel suffered more than we can imagine. This guy and his gf are the definition of evil and DCF , DHHs , DCYF , whatever their state calls it needs to be investigated fr!
Im fron nh and yes dhhs has a serious problem. They just lost a court case against teen detention centers. The people running it were raping the teens.

I don’t care about the privacy rights of people who abuse and neglect their children. If the details about child abuse cases were made public there would be less dead children.

I think she is too. And in one hearing she admitted she doesnt even reach out to her kids bc her mom doesnt let her talk to them! She can still write send cards etc until proves shes better but she gave up on trying even with those kids. Shes disgusting and until she was in fear for herself and he cheated did she give him up.
Release the records with a stipulation that only facts are shown.. That way other judges will be held accountable when they give innocent children are given to an evil person!
That judge definitely needs looking into. No one understands why he handed her over to a monster. As for Montgomery, they should remove one of his fingers every day until he tells where he put her? She deserves to be properly laid to rest.

When children are in foster care system, there are case studies done on the homes they’re placed in, this includes parents or other relatives. Those case studies are to determine safety of the home environment, ability to access education, food, etc. and there is also a look at the criminal history of the adult they’re placed with. Adam Montgomery, according to my understanding had a criminal history and record, along with known substance abuse issues/history and a relationship with his new wife Kayla who also had a history and history with drugs. They both had active drug abuse issues and even shortly after Harmony was placed with Adam, his uncle witnessed and I believe reported an instance of abuse. Harmony had been legally removed from him previously by the same DCF system, and the judge failed to ask for and require either case study OR neglected to look at them. It’s not the judge wasn’t informed. It’s that the judge didn’t care to review information presented and available to them or even ask for said information
We need transparency into what happens in family courts, and what dcs does and how they fail. Far too many children die and the public can’t even find out whose fault it was. These laws protect the government not children. Any children names can be redacted.
But lessons are never learnt by these departments. People are never held accountable. This is why it keeps happening. Lets start pushing for this to be made public and get the ball rolling. It shouldn't need debating whether or not it should be released if any of these judges have any morals
Our govmt needs an extreme overhaul. The people we elected to serve us (THE PEOPLE) don't have the decentcy to hire enough, train, and keep our children safe. we ALL need to come together as kind human beings and MAKE the government change DCF so this never happens again.
the community itself deserves to see the record because many families will go and rely on the system/aka the judges to keep their children away from violent people because it’s such a common sense issue that it’s shocking this even happened. Parents of the community that rely on this judge in custody disputes deserve to hear what kind of people are making decisions about their children that put them in harm’s way. if she is making the wrong decisions then she needs to be removed for the safety of the community at large.
Unfortunately, or maybe fortunately, this is not about Harmony directly. This is about freedom of information from family court proceedings & the privacy rights afforded to those in family court cases. Access to information is not the same in family court as in criminal court. There technically is no FOIA request with family court so trying to get access to information for media purposes is not paramount. This is about access to court records in the family court hearing that led to Harmony being placed with Adam & the protection that affords the parties involved. It in no way affects the direct players in the case or their sentences for the crimes they committed. It's about whether the the media should have access to sealed (impounded) records. It's about balancing whether access to the information outweighs the right to privacy & also how it could set precedent for future cases. The legal system is based on precedent & as unfair as it seems, it's a real question that has real implications going forward. These attorneys are not doing the best at arguing their cases (although Harmony's mother's lawyer seemed to have a slightly better grasp on things). Remanding the case back to the lower court seems the logical action here

It is a slippery slope once those types of records are released, imagine if you're a adult now and these records are out there? Once they're out there they are forever there for all to see. I agree that there needs to be more over sight but that takes more employees who are given the time to truly investigate!
This is absolutely awful. I don’t remember California DCF protesting facts be presented with the Gabriel Hernandez case….seems a bit biased for…reasons. There isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t think about little Harmony. An agency should not in a public case have the right to refuse releasing records that implicate or refuse their failures/efforts.

As a MA reaident, I find the MASJC justices decision making and questions fascinating. Most notably the black judge's question about abuse of discretion v. disagreeing with the discretionary rulings, opinions, orders, and decisions made by a lower court justice. That really tripped up media lawyer and I agree that records should be released to public, her two examples of abuse of discretion may not rise to abuse requirements. A hard hurdle to get over as a lawyer arguing a judges discretion. Is an error the same as abuse? Is she using proper vehicle to address error? Appealing to the MA Appeals Court? Or the superior court of competant jurisdiction?
Everything should be made public….EVERYTHING Little Harmony was let down in the biggest way, fatally. making things public will highlight how drastically she was let down and hopefully prevent children being subjected to evil crimes in future. Do the right thing!

Sad that the scheduled the adoption of harmonys brother at the same time as the custody hearing of harmony! The adopting parents wanted to adopt harmony too.. I think adam was mad about who was adopting his son and pushed to get harmony out of spite..
The mother should have gone to Harmony’s hearing. The son was gonna get adopted no matter what. Also, the mom shouldn’t have been such a bad mother that she lost all of her children in the first place. EVERYONE failed little Harmony, and I’m sick of “mother of the year’s excuses.”

I whole heartedly disagree with the judge who states that the public does not have a right to know. This is the same system that many members of the public will find themselves facing in the future and they have a right to know what specifically was done in this case that could come up in a case they are involved in so that they can be prepared. Hiding failures of the system under the guise of privacy is BS. If you are a public servant then what you do in your public job needs to be exposed to the public.

Chief Justice Scott Kafker 32:40 seems very fair and reasonable. He is at least acknowledging the great miscarriage of justice that happened in this case.
Crystal should work with the system to ha whee personal info redacted. Why doesn’t she want to help get this out so actual reform can happen? There is no real justice for Harmony and by refusing this info to come out, other little kids could face the same fate. It feels selfish to me. It’s the least she can do to help imo.

Crystal should work with the system to ha whee personal info redacted. Why doesn’t she want to help get this out so actual reform can happen? There is no real justice for Harmony and by refusing this info to come out, other little kids could face the same fate. It feels selfish to me. It’s the least she can do to help imo.
