Rocky she is a dachshund mixed with what looks to be a terrier of some kind. I’m almost wondering if she’s not mixed with a poodle. I know someone will say she know curly hair but anyone should know that when breeds mix you can’t always guarantee what will show in the puppies. But I know what doesn’t match a dachshund: legs are too long, ears are too short, nose is really too short and a little thicker than most and actually her paws aren’t big enough (IMO). However, she has the perfect demeanor for a dachshund and the limited eye contact is definite trait when they are young. She has definitely been in a bad situation and needs a loving secure environment. Also whoever adopts her needs to have some knowledge of dachshunds because of the issues with back problems and making sure they are careful of how she is lifted and carried.
Actually Rocky's voice has a calming effect on me too. Sometimes I watch sitting with dogs in bed just before going to sleep. Seriously the dogs mostly know he's talking about them so that helps them too, to gain their trust.
When I'm able to have a dog this is exactly the kind of dog I will look for. Nice size, short coat, pretty mellow, but wouldn't mind an evening walk or game of fetch. I think she would enjoy watching mysteries while snuggling on the couch. ..
Rocky, you do not talk too much. Please keep talking because it clearly comforts the dogs. Also, you have a beautiful voice so I like listening to you as well. 😊 Thanks for all that you do for those precious dogs.
She trusts you now. You are non threatening. Safe in your scoop. Safe in your lap. Calm talk and snacks, a warm body warms her up. She is comfortable. What a difference you are making in the life of Sylvie. Thank you.

I love listening to you, Rocky. You don’t talk BS, just common sense and your voice is very soothing. What a dear little dog she is. ❤ My daughter has a dachshund (Footlong Frank) the exact same colour and funnily, this dog’s left ear sits exactly the same, a little crumpled. 🐾

That doctor doing the health check did such a good job!! I appreciate all the things he did to make things more pleasant for Sylvie. All his little maneuvers and tricks made getting all the shots and stuff not so bad. I just thought he did an excellent job and deserved to be noticed for it. 😊❤
It's so wonderful to see vets like that! My dog has an anxiety disorder so vet visits are usually not easy, but last time we went for his blood tests, the vet went completely on his pace; asked if it would be easier to inject anesthesia on the table or on the floor, advised me to hold him so that he can see the "escape route" (the door) and just stayed relaxed and talked to me, mostly ignoring him. It was so great to see how little hassle that first injection can be and now I, too, know what to advocate for the next time we visit.
The continued talking / conversation is more comfortable by far for the dog. It’s a low gentle voice. I couldn’t imagine how else you could do this. Well done Rocky, I love these videos.
Sylvie is a perfect apartment dog. She isn't too rowdy or hyper, but I am sure she would love long walks daily with her mom or dad. I wish you were closer, I would love adopting this sweet, beautiful girl and trust me, I would love and cherish her forever.

The video shows kind intentions of young people in trying to help Sylvie, doing the best they could. Glad she was brought to the shelter so you could sit with her.
Rocky, you look like a giant sitting beside this little girl. My heart is breaking watching her freeze up in fear. You are extremely patient and very sensitive to her emotions. This little dog is precious and BEAUTIFUL, absolutely flawless. I think she’s a dachshund mix. I’m speaking for myself, this would be the PERFECT dog for me and my husband. We would spoil her rotten. We have a precious indoor dog that is our little lap dog. This is what Sylvie would be, we are in our 70’s and we would love her. She needs TLC, potty training, and LOTS OF AFFECTION! I pray she finds her people and they will give her a loving forever home. I love you Sylvie, you are Perfect! ❤🐾

@@wholeshebang1 An "indoor dog" spends most of his or her time indoors... as opposed to a dog who is tied up or running around a fenced yard all day. Chihuahuas (like this one) & other small breeds are companion animals who are small enough to get exercise by walking around a home & an area to make potty. This chihuahua/mix would be a perfect "indoor" companion for elder folks. If you've never heard of a term, maybe ask & learn. Turns out you might not know everything.
Sylvie has A LOT of chihuahua in her, too. My guess is she's a "Doxy-huahua." (Not all chihuahuas are yappy & bitey) She IS beautiful & she would be perfect for you. I can't believe someone would abandon her. I'd take her in a MINUTE, too.
Unfortunately, I think that this shelter only adopts out to people who are local, or within driving distance (adoptee's responsibility). They don't ship dogs via airline. It could be that this couple doesn't live in California, or maybe they don't drive anymore. They may be homebound.
My favorite part Rocky is when you get so happy and excited when the dog takes the treat LOL Always makes me giggle to see your excitement. You can see it all over your face that you just want to do a little jig
I think she’s a Chiweenie. Chihuahua dachshund cross I have one adopted him from Texas. They are very common in the south. They are a lovely breed. My whole family agrees that we would get another Chiweenie again we just love our dog.
I adopted my Chiweenie, Melvin, from Colorado Animal rescue 7 yrs ago. I had to visit him 3 times before he would come near me but I persevered and he quickly became the best, most loving, feisty Little Rock star. Totally different personality once I got him home ❤️
I’m 64 and I’ve had dogs my entire life. I’ve never seen anyone as wise about dogs as you are. I hope you don’t ever worry about any negative comments. I invariably start crying before the end of your videos. Thank you doesn’t cover how I feel but that’s all I can offer. We lost our baby soul dog a year and a half ago and we’ve both been suffering from extreme depression since then. Watching your videos helps me. 💔🐶💔
She looks like my very first dog rusty, 57 years ago. Makes me tear up. My current dog had a lot of behavioral issues. He had been to the pound 4 times before I got him. It has taken years to correct most of his issues but he makes me laugh every day and I don’t want to think about not having him in my life. He will be 12 (we think) this year. Absolutely worth every moment of this journey
Oh wow.... i must just say, that male vet IS AMAZING.... so gentle, kind, thorough, has heaps of patience, yet is swift in action and gives so much love in-between! He loves his job :)
@@joyadefoor2095 You sound like me, Joy. Simple things like squatting - or getting up when I fall, which I did a few weeks ago - are now major ordeals. 🙁
You always comment about how people critique your methods when you sit with these angels. I think your methods are kind and thoughtful and definitely work, thanks so much Rocky. 😊
Rocky, you are my favorite doggie channel - thank you Alexis and Rocky for everything you do! I started fostering and learning so much! You guys are the best.
My parents had a girl that looked like this sweet girl! She was the best dog. I wish my parents would adopt again... mom said "no more animals, it's too hard when they die". Rescues make the best companions.
I said the same thing as your mom when we lost our second dog last January. After 3 months of saying that, my husband came to me and said “I want a dog. Any dog.” So I figured, well, if he really wants one, it’s inevitable. I started researching rescue dogs right away. A month later, we adopted a rescue pup from Texas Chihuahua Rescue. She arrives on June 29th. We’re ecstatic. 🙂. The heartbreak of losing them is horrific. But life without a dog just isn’t as meaningful or fulfilling. I hope your mom changes her mind in the future.
There are weekly transports from shelters all over the country! Please contact animal friends of the valley shelter and inquire - these days it's pretty easy to move shelter dogs to other states for homes!
She looks tired too but is so scared. What a sweetheart. Humans are so cruel. Our pets are family and you just don't toss them aside because they would never give up on you!!!❤
My sister and brother "tossed me aside" and _disowned me_ after our remaining parent, our father, died _16 years ago._ My sister is executor of his estate, and has withheld my inheritance. I'm disabled and live in poverty, with no money or advocate to intervene. People *_do_*_ abandon_ their family members, and _sadly,_ many *_do_*_ abandon_ and/or _mistreat_ their *pets,* when they are supposed to be their _"animal _*_guardians."_*
My four legged love came as a rescue. It took two years of working with her to potty train her and for her to not have shaking anxiety attacks. She instantly connected to me then to one of my grandsons and then my son but that took a long time but I’m happy to say after 3 1/2 years she is enjoying life and people. She had lots of issues with other animals but she enjoys sharing her home with our two cats. I love her so much and am so privileged to have her in my life.
I want to say she looked sad and confused but better off there in a cage then getting dumped. The group that let her out may have been wanting to help her but could use some training before they own a dog. I am glad she was found. I live in Palmdale CA. and daily see dogs that are dumped its just awful. So it could have been much worse for this little one. Very beautiful and a strong Dachshund mindset. Very intelligent. Thanks for all your hard work . My best to you Sylvie
I feel so bad for the abandoned dog Rocky, I hope she’s ok too. It was nice of you and your team to take her under your wing what kind caring people you are.
You don't talk too much... You NEED to talk because you are narrating what you're doing and without that narration, viewers will have no idea what is going on! Keep up the noble work!
Poor sweet baby. Those big sad, scared eyes and pinned back ears. She is frozen to spot it brakes my heart. Sylvie has the look of minutre dachshund crossed with a terrier of some sort
I suffered from ptsd, and I just see myself when i see those dogs being frozen, hoping to be transparent and hoping you won't see them and walk away. Then people give you some love, a nice word, a hug, and you soften slowly, ... it basically brings you back to the living world, may you be a dog or a human. So thank you, the love you give to these dogs also help the humans watching your videos.
I've worked in rescue for years; kept some of them for myself. One girl, RosieVi the Shy, a puppymill breeder girl, took 2-1/2 years before she would take anything from my hand. We had her for nine years and she eventually came to trust us, but yes, it took years and patience (and the help of our other dogs).
Your videos both break my heart and fill my heart with love. I wish I could do more to help these doggies but this is what I can do right now. Thank you for being an awesome human to these awesome doggies.
Rocky, you don’t talk too much. I think the sound of your voice talking to us is soothing without too much attention to the scared dog. It’s important in making the dogs feel safer.
What a little sweetheart, I'll never understand how anyone can abandon their pet. She must be so confused & hurt. So hope she gets a good loving home. ❤
Your voice is soothing and reassuring for the😢traumatized doggies. You do not talk too much because you are also informing us of doggies history and calming him or her too.
She looks like my sweet rescue Dobby. I have no doubt he/she is a wonderful baby. The previous owners don’t deserve her. Anyone who adopts her will be lucky to have him/her
they look almost exactly like my dog as a puppy, she's also a rescue and we don't know her breed, and she's getting up there in years now, but Ive never seen a dog this close to my dog
I had a rescue named Kreacher 😁 when we first found him. He stole things from me and my husband and our 2 other dogs and hoarded them in a pile outside in the garden 😂
I tune in specifically to listen to what Rocky has to say and learn. Most dogs find it soothing and comforting, Rocky had explained he wouldn’t talk around dogs that would find it bothersome. Keep it up Brother! You don’t need to be explaining yourself! ❤
TALK AS MUCH AS YOU LIKE ROCKY!!! 😩💕💕💕 It actually comforts me to as a viewer, some of these pups stories need to be told and it’s educational. Thank you for the work you’re doing. She’s such a beautiful pup and I pray she finds a loving forever home 🏡 💕😍
It breaks my heart to see such a sad girl. I love you Rocky for all that you do. Thanks for giving them such loving care and support. I am a Mental Health and Wellbeing Coach for people and you do with dogs what I do with humans. You are a Gift and expect some pup treats soon from me.
We have a dog that we rescued from a riverbank. Almost two years ago. We were on a boat heading downriver from the city of Norwich (UK). He was howling and very thin. With the help of a couple of kayakers we got the dog onto our boat. We got in touch with the local dog rescue service and handed him over (reluctantly…he seemed a gentle soul especially considering the circumstances). Anyway, no one claimed him. He was chipped, but the chip was still registered with the breeder. So we adopted him. The best thing we’ve done. Our collie took him under her wing. She tries to boss him around (he’s a lot bigger than she is!) but he’s not really phased by anything…except my husband and our collie both going out without him. We called him Pozzick, as that’s the way the Norfolk locals pronounce the place that we found him (Postwick).
She's going to be fantastic in a good home. I have a timid weener dog. I'm super gentle about reprimands and work with her needs. She's really come around, so will this sweet girl.
Rocky, keep up the great work. We found our 10-week puppy taped up in a box and thrown into the dumpster. She's doing great, and she's now 2 years old on June 6th.
@MsNappingcat Thank you. I always tell people the same thing. It was an honor to serve our great Nation and beloved Marine Corps. My puppy dog is now 2 yrs old, and she's sitting with me on our back porch here in Charleston, West Virginia
She looks well cared for and i wouldt dump on her family as they left her in a safe place with all her records so they loved her and was probably heartbroken to leave her. Shes bound to get a family who will give her the life and love she needs. ❤
Help me spread the word that she needs a home by hitting that share! ❤🙏

If you've never heard of a term, maybe ask & learn. Turns out you might not know everything.
Sylvie has A LOT of chihuahua in her, too. My guess is she's a "Doxy-huahua." (Not all chihuahuas are yappy & bitey)
She IS beautiful & she would be perfect for you.
This is definitely doxie mix. I want her if I can get her to Colorado. I am retired and would give her the world that she deserves ❤
@@edibletcetera7354 I believe it!
@@edibletcetera7354 My Chiweenie is Dobby!
She reminds me of Honey, my first dog. The sweetest dog ever. She lived a long, happy life with me!
What a beautiful dog. She obviously wanted to trust you, she wanted you to love her.
You need to get rid of your depression, it's been too long in you. I really believe you should go get a rescue dog now to help you smile again.
I noticed that as well. His love for the animals fills the room. So wonderful 🤗
Just the way Silvie has her darling little legs stretched out near you shows how comfortable she is being with you, aRocky!😊
Rocky and friends, watch back in this video when you’re opening the gifts and Sylvie is asleep in your arms for part of it. So sweet.
Rocky I am constantly amazed how you manage to slowly sit from the squat. I wouldn’t even be able squat like that without falling over.
Seriously!
I told someone I would love to set with dogs, but I couldn't get it up.
I am so old that I can not even squat. If I could get the down, I couldn't get up.
@@joyadefoor2095 You sound like me, Joy. Simple things like squatting - or getting up when I fall, which I did a few weeks ago - are now major ordeals. 🙁
He's still young.
Little darlin’, definitely feeling all by her lonesome & uncertain but she is really full of warmth & affection, a perfect companion❤.
Poor little Sylvie!!!! So grateful she's safe.

😢😢😢the 😮😅
I said the same thing as your mom when we lost our second dog last January.
How adorable is this one. Poor sweetheart. Too bad Im halfway across the country or this one would be mine.
Me too
There are weekly transports from shelters all over the country! Please contact animal friends of the valley shelter and inquire - these days it's pretty easy to move shelter dogs to other states for homes!
Why not check your local shelter to see if you can give a dog a good home?
@@kcwalker46Your local shelter will have dogs that need a good home.
@@MG-pj2ooTrue but it does take money away from the shelter. Better to visit your local shelter for a dog/cat that needs a good home.
Shes so exhausted from the stress poor baby. When she starts to relax just a little bit her eyes automatically close. 😥
She looks tired too but is so scared. What a sweetheart. Humans are so cruel. Our pets are family and you just don't toss them aside because they would never give up on you!!!❤
💯right!!
Call the county you live in about finding legal assistance. Usually they will allow 30 free minutes. Hope this helps you.@@wholeshebang1
YOU DO NOT TALK TOO MUCH! Your voice is soothing and seems to be calming.😊❤
You don't talk too much . Your calm manner and voice really does help the dog .
Someone please adopt this sweet little dog soon .
Beautiful daschund eyes for sure ....poor baby
I feel so bad for the abandoned dog Rocky, I hope she’s ok too. It was nice of you and your team to take her under your wing what kind caring people you are.
THank you Peter!
She's very sweet. She looks like a mix of Chihuahua/Dachshund.
Yes she looks just like my scappy he was dachshund/chihuahua
Looks a little like my Luna Love Me. Her mom is Ratchi (Rat Terrier & Chihuahua) and her dad is a Dachshund.
Such personality!
That's what I thought too. She's a Chiwienie.
She's a Chiweenie, Chihuahua/Dachshund mix. We have one who she looks exactly alike.
THIS DOG NEVER FOUGHT ANY OTHER DOG! She ran FROM the dogs! SO GLAD she's away from there. I WISH I could take her! BEAUTIFUL DOG!!!
She is clearly part doxie and they can sometimes get attitude when around other dogs.
You don't talk too much... You NEED to talk because you are narrating what you're doing and without that narration, viewers will have no idea what is going on! Keep up the noble work!
I believe talking comforts them. Keep it up!
I feel you talking calms the dogs down. You make your presence known and just talking makes them a part of your situation.
Poor sweet baby. Those big sad, scared eyes and pinned back ears. She is frozen to spot it brakes my heart. Sylvie has the look of minutre dachshund crossed with a terrier of some sort
Perhaps a Dachshund/Pekingese cross? Definitely Daxie in there!
@@colleenoehme240I’m thinking chaweenie. 👍🏻
Dachshund mix was my first impression, too.
Yes, that’s a red mini doxie. I grew up with one as a child. She would make a really good little sister to my current chihuahua who needs a buddy.
Hope you can get her❤
Aww, she needed a hug! Sweet. She's starved for love & attention. ❤
She is absolutely precious. And the third group, although not smart choices, was definitely trying to comfort her. So glad she is safe.
Wow! You are incredible:))) ❤🙏
Your videos both break my heart and fill my heart with love. I wish I could do more to help these doggies but this is what I can do right now. Thank you for being an awesome human to these awesome doggies.
Great to see how you care and get these doggies mentally on their feet again. It must be sheer horror to get dumped. They have not deserved that.
Keep talking!!! It seems like dogs like to hear people speak in a soothing tone. It relaxes them.
Poor baby girl😢 Her little sad face just breaks my heart😢
Your voice is soothing and reassuring for the😢traumatized doggies. You do not talk too much because you are also informing us of doggies history and calming him or her too.
My heart is breaking. I want to cuddle her 😢❤
She looks like my sweet rescue Dobby. I have no doubt he/she is a wonderful baby. The previous owners don’t deserve her. Anyone who adopts her will be lucky to have him/her
Dobby!! 🥰
Such a great name....Dobby. ❤
they look almost exactly like my dog as a puppy, she's also a rescue and we don't know her breed, and she's getting up there in years now, but Ive never seen a dog this close to my dog
I had a rescue named Kreacher 😁 when we first found him. He stole things from me and my husband and our 2 other dogs and hoarded them in a pile outside in the garden 😂
😆 that sounds pretty much like Kreacher. 😅
I tune in specifically to listen to what Rocky has to say and learn. Most dogs find it soothing and comforting, Rocky had explained he wouldn’t talk around dogs that would find it bothersome.
Keep it up Brother! You don’t need to be explaining yourself! ❤
❤❤❤Sylvie❤❤❤
Such a pretty girl, I am glad you were rescued so you get a loving family.
Rocky, your self-deprecating good cheer is like balm, I respect you so much. And she's a sweetie, what a beautiful face she has!
Rocky, it warms my heart when you said, 'so do I, I bark when I am scared', so much love and empathy there❤
She is such a sweetheart! I hope she finds her forever home soon!
I love it when you talk softly with these dogs just because for me it is full of information
Thank God for people like Rocky. Such a good example for us all. Love this guy. Thank you Rocky for caring.
That pup starting to doze in your arms was nice. Great kindnesses from people. Fun you could give toys to the squeak lovers next door.
Why do so many people think they're smarter than everyone else ! I really respect what you're doing and I feel for those babies !
@AlvarezGuillermo-me hello!
You have just made me laugh about the cramp🫣. She is so endearing, how could you not adopt her blessing her, I hope she gets a good home soon. 🏠
She is so beautiful, poor little soul
Keep talking Rocky. You're PERFECT.
She's going to be fantastic in a good home. I have a timid weener dog. I'm super gentle about reprimands and work with her needs. She's really come around, so will this sweet girl.
"I don't fold well", had me hollering hahaha.
Hope she gets a loving forever home.
Rocky, keep up the great work. We found our 10-week puppy taped up in a box and thrown into the dumpster. She's doing great, and she's now 2 years old on June 6th.
Thank you for your service and for saving your pup literally from the jaws of death.
@MsNappingcat Thank you. I always tell people the same thing. It was an honor to serve our great Nation and beloved Marine Corps. My puppy dog is now 2 yrs old, and she's sitting with me on our back porch here in Charleston, West Virginia

Thank you for saving that baby. People can be cruel.
@@kathymc234 Yes Kathy, some people can be very mean.
Your voice is soothing to the animals.
She is just adorable. Those eyes! She needs a wonderful person to just give her all their love.
She looks well cared for and i wouldt dump on her family as they left her in a safe place with all her records so they loved her and was probably heartbroken to leave her. Shes bound to get a family who will give her the life and love she needs. ❤
She is such a sweet cutie 🥰 I hope she gets her forever home soon.
Adorable. She looks part dachshund. I recognize those stubby legs and paws 🐾
Dachshund mix was my first impression, too.
Agree! Doxie for sure!
She reminds me of my cattle dog/chihuahua mix -- 100% good dog regardless
I wonder if there’s some corgi too? I
Love those paws💕
I see doxie too.
