Maybe she's a Chiweenie - Chihuahua Dachshund (Weiner dog mix)? Red smooth coat Doxie mix maybe.
Rocky she is a dachshund mixed with what looks to be a terrier of some kind. I’m almost wondering if she’s not mixed with a poodle. I know someone will say she know curly hair but anyone should know that when breeds mix you can’t always guarantee what will show in the puppies. But I know what doesn’t match a dachshund: legs are too long, ears are too short, nose is really too short and a little thicker than most and actually her paws aren’t big enough (IMO). However, she has the perfect demeanor for a dachshund and the limited eye contact is definite trait when they are young. She has definitely been in a bad situation and needs a loving secure environment. Also whoever adopts her needs to have some knowledge of dachshunds because of the issues with back problems and making sure they are careful of how she is lifted and carried.
Sylvie reminds me of a Chiweenie, a mixed breed of chihuahua & light red smooth coat dachshund (weiner dog).

When I'm able to have a dog this is exactly the kind of dog I will look for. Nice size, short coat, pretty mellow, but wouldn't mind an evening walk or game of fetch. I think she would enjoy watching mysteries while snuggling on the couch. ..

It seems like dogs can bring out the best and worst in people. Sylvie encountered both within only two years. Her fear and confusion are warranted.

That doctor doing the health check did such a good job!! I appreciate all the things he did to make things more pleasant for Sylvie. All his little maneuvers and tricks made getting all the shots and stuff not so bad. I just thought he did an excellent job and deserved to be noticed for it. 😊❤

It's so wonderful to see vets like that! My dog has an anxiety disorder so vet visits are usually not easy, but last time we went for his blood tests, the vet went completely on his pace; asked if it would be easier to inject anesthesia on the table or on the floor, advised me to hold him so that he can see the "escape route" (the door) and just stayed relaxed and talked to me, mostly ignoring him. It was so great to see how little hassle that first injection can be and now I, too, know what to advocate for the next time we visit.
Poor Sylvie looks so exhausted from her traumatic experience. I hope she gets adopted quickly.

A few happy tears caught me by surprise when I saw that huge pile of dog food! That's a whole big heap of love and proof that people who care are listening!
My parents had a girl that looked like this sweet girl! She was the best dog. I wish my parents would adopt again... mom said "no more animals, it's too hard when they die". Rescues make the best companions.

I said the same thing as your mom when we lost our second dog last January. After 3 months of saying that, my husband came to me and said “I want a dog. Any dog.” So I figured, well, if he really wants one, it’s inevitable. I started researching rescue dogs right away. A month later, we adopted a rescue pup from Texas Chihuahua Rescue. She arrives on June 29th. We’re ecstatic. 🙂. The heartbreak of losing them is horrific. But life without a dog just isn’t as meaningful or fulfilling. I hope your mom changes her mind in the future.

Rocky, you don’t talk too much. I think the sound of your voice talking to us is soothing without too much attention to the scared dog. It’s important in making the dogs feel safer.
I think your instincts are superb. Chatting in a soft, companionable way is like the audible equivalent of wallpaper -- really GOOD wallpaper. It surrounds the dog and provides a constant in their uncertain world... something to lean into. Sorry if I am not expressing it well, but you are a comforting presence for these lonely little beings. For heaven's sake, keep talking! 🥰

Rocky you are doing everything correctly and right. Try not to listen to people who are negative. You talk just right. Most of us know what you are doing...getting the dogs to relax and feel YOUR CALMNESS. Something like 'singing' to dogs. They can feel safe by your comforting voice and talk. Thank you for that.

She would make a great companion for a single elderly person. She's small enough to not need lots of exercise. I don't do that much these days either...LOL

Compared to the moment you met her she is so relaxed in your lap. Not interested in toys but so grateful for some treats and your affection. I assume she could be the ideal companion for some seniors who are looking for a smaller dog and will be willing to give her time to decompress and come out of her shell. ❤

Thank you for your love of dogs. ❤ I prayed for a dog and my prayers were answered. I was gardening and a dog showed up on the property. We live in a rural farming area. It took a little time to get her to come to me, finally she did. She’s chipped and had a tag, so I called and the chip company gave her previous owner my number. I found out Josey Wales was rehomed and escaped the person when he stopped to let her out to stretch her legs. She was missing for 3 weeks. Her previous owner was happy Josey was okay. I asked if they didn’t want her if I could please keep her. They agreed. She’s been part of our family for 4 years. I’m so blessed to have her in my life. There’s nothing like the love you get from a saved dog. Josey is an Australian Cattle dog. She’s amazing.

Thank you Rocky for your dedication to help neglected/disowned dogs. So many dogs are euthanized because there so many of them. I hope your words reach a lot of people that care about discarded animals. I’m on your side, on my side, north of the American border as we have a lot of animals in the same position up here.

Talking and being casual, is also sort of an invitation. Especially when you are talking to Kelly or Alexis and the puppy is definitely a huge part of the conversation. It also normalizes the current circumstances if THIS is an ok place to be. Having a snack is even more home like.
Poor Michael having to do his job and necessary medical treatment, losing and restoring trust.
Wish I could get her but I'm in North Carolina..she's the right size I need in my life..lost all three of my pets in the past year

She looks almost identical to a dog I adopted a couple months ago from a shelter. She is a blue heeler/german shepherd mix. I absolutely adore her, and I'm glad she's in my life now.

Your show makes me miss my two dachshunds. I ended up unable to care for them so I called Dachshund rescue and they come and got my babies and found them homes real quick. They were loved by me, lovable and sweet. They were happy and settled with families with children. People please don’t just abandon your dogs. Get them help from a rescue.

It's obvious you're doing the right thing by talking about the dog because the dog is listening and doesn't feel like it's being put on show. But can get to feel comfortable. She understands the nature of the conversation.
i love your videos! i think one thing that would be really impactful is to encourage people to donate stuff like food and toys to their local shelter too, not just this specific one. cause there are shelters all over the world that desperately need these same resources and you have viewers all over the world that could help
