- Everyone wants to buy a washer, but nobody really wants to change their washer. The good news is that the washer you got from your parents is just fine- and you can expect it to work well for years and years. But if it were really that simple, you wouldn't be watching this video. So what are your options? Do you fix it? Do you buy a new one? And what do these machines even do anyways? This is the first installment in our series about keeping your clothing clean, fresh and socks separate for only $80 a year.
WOW. My washer was new in 1992. I still have it. And I don't plan to get rid of it after seeing these new washers. I'll just keep fixing it for 20 to 30 bucks every 3 to 5 years.
I’m with you on keeping my 2005 washer. These new washer are nothing but junk.

I have both a early 2000's Kenmore 70 series washer and also a 2010 Kenmore compact stack unit. Both of these are the old school direct drive and clean clothes fantastically. I won't ever part with them. It's well worth spending the money to repair them if they break down. I know many people with various types of the HE/Energy Star washers that absolutely loathe them and deeply regret purchasing them.
We loathe them because they take too long to clean, aren't built well with quality parts like the vintage machines, and they break down more frequently. What is to love?
It is important to understand that each cycle has been desired to optimally clean specific load types,
If you desire to add an extra rinse, select the Second Rinse with fabric softener.
When using fabric softener, you will also need to select the fabric softener switch to ensure dispensing,
Followed by a short spin with water entering the wash basket to help knock down any remaining suds.
The drain pump sounds like it was hesitating to start!
If you wish to use fabric softener, add the measured amount into the fabric softener dispenser
During the final spin, the washer spins the load at variable spin speeds in order to protect clothing,
During the rinse portion of the cycle, you will hear similar sounds to the wash portion as the washer
The basket progresses through periods of spinning and coasting to achieve the highest spin speed,
The combined action of the agitator and basket move the load through the water.

If you need to add a garment after the lid has locked, press the Start/Pause button to pause the cycle.
This is normal and still provides excellent cleaning while saving water and energy.
With the Cycle Complete indicator lit, lift the lid and remove the load.
Depending on low size and final spin speed, it can take up 2 minutes for the basket to come to a complete stop.
Basket?? Aren't we loading the clothes into the washer tub?
If there is no Energy Star logo, you can use regular detergent or HE detergent.

Once the lid is locked, these washers work differently by sensing an out of balance load.

I bought a new large capacity top load Kenmore washing machine with agitator in 2018. I bought a Kenmore dryer at the same time. They both work great, but the silver/gray area behind the control dials/knobs has some kind of spotting that almost looks like mold. I can’t figure out what it is and nothing I’ve tried so far will remove it. Any info on this would be appreciated. Thanks.
Let's look at a few of the differences.

This washer acts different because on my washer when you press start on my washer it will just fill up and then lock the lid when it's time to wash.
I still don’t get how detergent poured on top of the clothes could cause and have to pour detergent before loading the washer
Be sure to dilute with water, just to the top of the dispenser.
Be sure to close the lid and press Start to continue the cycle.
Sorry, but old school washers work better! NO comparison. You need water to clean...not half full. This is ridiculous!
They're trying to save water for drought areas. But this is ridiculous because you have to run the washer twice to get clothes clean.

I thought, based on it saying "Kenmore Classic", plus the thumbnail of THAT agitator, they were talking about the almighty direct-drives. I'm not even surprised. SEARS, MAKE REAL WASHERS AGAIN.

Be sure to add the detergent before you load the clothes.
Have a VMW style washer andvHATE it! Want to replace it with an older machine. The one I have wastes time,tangles clothes around its agitator or constantly goes out of balance and shakes itself across the utility room OLDER MACHINES ARE SO MUCH BETTER !!!

@@SuperBullyone Go to a used appliance shop-“swap shop as they called. Sometimes shops that sell new machines sell you a trade in machine-ask them. Sadly the stock of the classics are getting scarce. Check around and tell the place what you want. They could put a machine you want aside for you.
No the corporations sold out to the lure of outsourcing -- more profit for them. They don't WANT to make a machine that lasts, they've conspired tomake machines that break down so you the consumer have to buy a new one more often. Plus the new machines are poorly engineered.

Because we have an average size load of everyday wear with light to medium soils.
Before starting the cycle, look for the Energy Star logo on the council.

No no no, I still have my Frigidaire Gallery Washer and Maytag Washer for 20+ years. I can wash a load of clothes in 15 minutes and have them dried in another 20 to 30 minutes. I've been looking at new washers for the last 4 years. I can not find anything that out performs my old $200 washer, and never had to repair it. It's only a 3 Cu top load washer and have been looking at 4+ cu. No current washer has convince me to go their way for washing clothes for 45+ minutes. I think washer brands have turned cleaning into a scam. My washer is a drop and wash washer, no waiting for a computer to figure out what... clothes capacity and weight; So laughable.

Have an Amana with the same tub and similar dual action. Mine washes and performs very well. These aren't bad washers at all I have so far found.
Thay bounce and tub glides to much wich makes this sound like a helicopter
