I read 365 books in both 2022 and 2023, but struggled to hit 350 in 2024 so I made my goal 300 for this year! I do want to read 100 manga as part of that. Idk why I love fourth wing so much, but I just find it so engaging, it has really good humour, and it’s basic but the romance is chef’s kiss!!
i set my reading goal to 52 books every year, just so i don't feel pressure when life happens. i tend to get to my goal halfway through the year (i read 114 books in 2024) but i still keep my goal at a book a week. i'm excited about your goal to read even more diversely - i've set this as a goal for myself, too. would love to see content around that.
I dont know if you have ever tried your hand at writing poetry... but I think you would be good at it. You have this natural knack and playing with language.
I read 300+ in 2023 and I had the same goal for 2024 but then I realized I was reading A LOT of things I didn’t like trying not to dnf - didn’t set a goal for 25 but I’m praying for at least 12 5star books!! lol
My theory for fourth wing being that hyped is that it lends itself to fandom, fanarts, merch, theories, the amount of side characters, questions etc. in the same way some other fantasy series did, maybe not as big as harry potter but still
My goals are very similar to last year: 1) Read 45 books overall (was right on time with this last year, so it feels like a good realistic goal given by availability and reading pace) 2) Of those, I want 5 to be nonfiction. It's a genre I just don't tend to pick up on my own, so I've found it helpful to set that goal for myself the past couple years. 3) I did a reading challenge from The Novel Neighbor bookstore last year which I really enjoyed, because it pushed me to pick up some books I wouldn't have otherwise, so I'm going to look up their 2025 challenge.
I loveeeee fourth wing because it was my first fantasy book since like Twilight is high school and helped me realized I like fantasy BUT now that I’ve read more fantasy I think if I reread today I wouldn’t hype it as much! 😊
I feel like you actually hit the nail on the head when you said that theres so much more better romantasy out there than Fourth Wing and Iron Flame. I tink a lot of the hype is coming from people who don’t normally read a lot or don’t normally read this genre. Or are getting back into reading and are discovering romantasy for the first time. I think it also helps that RY writes pretty good battle scenes since she is a military wife. Like, objectively, that is a strength that she has. At least I think the battle scenes are way better than for example ACOTAR.
Love the jacket! I’m trying to dive into some suspense books, currently reading the housemaid. Will always love romance but it’s been fun to try something different! PS. Tried your dnd gel recommendation and I’m hooked!! Got the light and a few colors and base/top coat. AMAZING. Happy new year!
similarly my reading goal is 200 books which i’ve had set as my reading goal for the past 2 years. i’ve got close before but this year i just really am determined to achieve it!!!
I always set my goal at 52 and I'm hoping to read more diversely this year within romance. I feel like with short form content everyone just seems to be recommending the same few books over and over. Some of my favourite books this year have been some of your recommendations!
I’d personally love to see KU recommendations as I’m a huge KU reader. I get the dislike for Iron Flame. I started listening to a Fourth Wing and just couldn’t finish it. I also remember being confused as to why so many people love the Twilight series because I couldn’t stand that writer. Everyone has different likes, I guess. I find that if everyone is hyping a book, chances are I may not like it. And that’s okay as well. There are sooo many books out there and we can all find ones we love.
ln 2025 I highly recommend everyone to read Your Life Your Game by Keezano. It beautifully shows how connecting with God and building meaningful relationships can lead to spiritual growth and success in both your personal and professional life. This book truly changed my life..a must-read. God bless
honestly, I feel exactly the same about Iron Flame. I enjoyed Fourth Wing in the way that I enjoy every fantasy school setting and an origins story but I felt Iron Flame dragged so hard for me. Violet continues to be incredibly annoying and self-righteous and that's all I got from that one lol.
last year I set my goal to 24 books but ended up reading 53 🙌 I originally was going to set my reading goal for this year to 50 but then I realised my life my change in 2025 as I'm currently unemployed but I'm hoping to have a job soon so I didn't want to put too much pressure on myself when it came to reading. So my goal is 25 books and I'm hoping to finish the Fae Isle series this year along with The Black Witch Chronicles, in total I have 7 books to read and most of these are around 500 pages so I want to enjoy them😃 I can't wait to read Crying in H Mart, I'm very curious about it. KU vlogs please!
Your hair looks incredible! Two of my main goals this year are to diversify my reading. I primarily read contemporary romance but I would love to get into romantasy. I tried reading ACOTAR, and I can tell fourth wing wouldn’t be for me so I would love to hear your favorite romantasy. I will also love to see more videos about KU! I love KU but I also feel like I didn’t use it enough in 2024. My reading goal for 2025 is 50 books because I’m going back to school and I probably won’t have much time to read. Looking forward to all the content you make this year! I will also be subscribing to your Patreon finally and I’m super excited!
Ok so I can’t really articulate why I obsessively love fourth wing 😂 but it was my first ever fantasy I read and it also broke me out of a years-long reading slump and I’ve been devouring KU fantasies since. I also really like Violet and that she’s clever and finds ways around her weaknesses. Lots of FMC in romantasy are annoying or too pissy to me. Iron flame could have been 100 page shorter but I still just love those damn characters and ate it up haha
I haven’t watched the full video yet, but I just wanted to say that you look great! It can be seen that you’ve lost a lot of weight. I know this was one of your goals so well done!!
Not surprised you didn't like iron flame, hopefully Rebecca has allowed her editors to actually edit her next book 🫢 One of my goals this is year is to read more non-fiction, I always learn a lot with those reads but I don't prioritize them
For me Fourth Wing was a 3.5 ⭐when I read it last year. It's not a fav but I had a good time in general 🤷🏻♀ For me it's like fast food, not the greatest but nice in another way 😆 Like, it's easy to read, you have a little drama in the romance department, also in the political aspect, some spice and I looove the dragons... especially while listening the graphic audio ❤ with the whole cast, sound effects... like, I'm 100% sure my experience with that book was better because of the graphic audio and even when I still have a lot of critiques (like the almost non existent side characters development) I still kinda enjoyed it 🤷🏻♀ like when you watch Love Island or Love is Blind 🤣
hahha ok that checks out. my sister rated fourth wing similarly and LOVES love island. i haven't been able to get into either. different strokes for sure
I also don’t understand what I’m missing from Fourth Wing. I couldn’t even get past 25% of the book lmao. My numerical goal is to read 80 books this year, but I want to focus on reading a majority of those by BIPOC authors.
I normally make my reading goal 50 books. But I started to get into audio books so this year I pushed myself to 62 books. Let's see how audio books go. But maybe if you recommend so audio books or narrators that will help me would be great. 😊
I watched a few rant reviews of Fourth Wing so I enjoyed it like you do a cheesy movie. Iron flame was disappointing bc it felt really like she rushed it out. The smut was also… weird.
I wish you’ve have read the 2nd Christmas novella called Merry Ever After by Tessa Bailey. It was entertaining but so cringy I felt embarrassed even though I was reading this alone. Would have loved to hear your feedback on it.
Fourth Wing and Iron Flame are just not that interesting. I made the mistake of buying both in hardcover format and only read the first one. It’s just not good.
girl the hair is gorgggg you look incredible!
thank youuu 🫶🏻😭
Hair on fire

Looking forward to more Kindle Unlimited context. I've found it hard to find good recommendations recently.

I would love an updated closed-door romance recs video. 💕

The lotus palace sounds so good!
My reading goal is 200 books. This year, I'm trying to read the books I physically own, so hopefully i make it past January in this goal!
last year I set my goal to 24 books but ended up reading 53 🙌 I originally was going to set my reading goal for this year to 50 but then I realised my life my change in 2025 as I'm currently unemployed but I'm hoping to have a job soon so I didn't want to put too much pressure on myself when it came to reading. My goal is usually 80 books, but this year I set it to 100. I'm trying to read more speculative fiction, but I don't have any goals besides the 100. 😊
so excited to see underrated books I use youtube for books to its great
I haven’t watched the full video yet, but I just wanted to say that you look great! It can be seen that you’ve lost a lot of weight. I know this was one of your goals so well done!!
thanks :) feeling like myself again
If you haven’t read Honestly I’m Totally Faking It by Amanda Gambill it’s amazing and is on KU!
I did enjoy this one! I hope Chandler reads it!

❤❤❤

OK HAIR
A book plus a bit a day🤦🏻♀️ 300 books is pretty lofty
i mean i could be wrong here but... i think that's less than a book a day lmao
