    What I like about this guy is he refurbishes these machines and keeps them out of the landfill and still in use. That is awesome! 👍

    One thing i like about this channel is that this is very wholesome and straight to the point.

      Instead of a Gaming Laptop, make a 'Lugable' or Briefcase computer. Like the old original Compac computers. You will be able to make it cheaper and a better Portable Gaming PC. More standard parts and widely available sound and video cards. (any cards that will fit into a common Mini-ATX case.)

      For my experience after 1 year using gaming laptop, not really worth in a long-term although i found out that mobility accesses is limited.

      In case, Did you meant workstation? super computers were made for running parallel processes not daily software usage nor gaming and workstations are made specialized for something, such as bioinformatics, human-computer interaction, gaming, programming and etc...

    4:28 "easy to change" - usually only requires you to disassemble the whole laptop first. But hey true, they are easy to change.
    The stand design is pretty cool though.

      Yeah, this is a HP 17-p model laptop. I know this because I have a similar looking laptop, which is a HP 15-p. The P series of HP laptops are well known for their difficult disassembly - a RAM upgrade requires complete disassembly.

    Great re-use of what was an almost totally destroyed laptop. Only thing I would have said is to add a second hard drive (in place of the old DVD drive) since 240GB isn't much.

      Hi, this model has i5 5200U with HD 5500 graphics

      I've been looking for the specs of this laptop in the comments and actually, the Acer Aspire E15 E5-571-5930 has the same i5 5200U and Intel HD 5500 Graphics! It's 5 years old now and replaces my 2018 (bought 2019) Acer Aspire TC-885 that froze and when I turned it off and on it boot loops so on and off and on and so on until you remove power. :(

    I DONE THIS FOR A PROJECT FOR AN APPRENTICESHIP!
    Mine was a little different in shape, such that it was a “wedge” shape. Very fun project to make, and it cost me a total of $0.50

    I'm sure you've learned this by now, but incase someone watches this... two sided tape is your friend if you aren't going to fabricate proper brackets. 3m makes a tape that literally holds your car molding on your car.
