Quite impressed with some of the detail in this route. Funnily enough, even those caravans just after Dalmeny station are actually there in real life. I pass them every day on my way to work
I bought this for Train Sim 2015, living in South Queensferry for years. I know this route very well. It is very well done. The Forth Bridge model is right on the button. Im looking forward to when they bring out the Edinburgh to Newcastle route on the east coast main line. It goes right past where I now live.
This is still one of the best routes in train simulator. I have done this route several times in real life and the scenery is bang on with key landmarks placed in very recognisable places if you know the route. Well done to whoever made this route, completed with passion and love
The reason you saw Concorde, is because since 2006, that line (Dundee to Penzanze) Changed from InterCity Virgin Cross Country to CrossCountry (Owned by Arriva Transport). That scenario is probably based around 2003/2004
I cannot believe you didn't know that was the iconic forth rail bridge. Concord did land in Edinburgh and I think there may even be a concord in one of the Scottish museums. I thought the concord was a nice little extra bit of detail.
Waverley was pretty accurate. that little green bridge you went under just before the station is where I used to stand with my grandparents as a kid, watching all the trains going by. Pretty cool.
The scenario was beautiful. I love the bridge as much as you did and that was just brilliant. Thank you for playing a game that I like and that some others like. Have a wonderful day.
Thankyou so much for this fab video - my son and I have sat and watched it and recognised almost all the route - we have been on the train from Leeds - Kirkcaldy and back again lots and lots of times - the next time being the end of may this year. My son loves train/bus/plane etc simulators and this is on his birthday list. Thankyou again. its Brilliant!
Squirrel I'm an avid light sim player and pilot in real life, and I would recommend getting FSX, the newest version, and doing a short flight from say London to Paris. Obviously you're going to have to learn to fly first but you'll see that when you learn and can actually fly yourself without any help it becomes a really fun game. FSX is the best flight sim out there, and the scenery in the game is the best. You can also download far more realistic planes, planes that are sometimes so realistic that they are like flying the real thing, take my word for it. Try it in you're own time, you never know you might find something fun to do.
FSX is good for procedural training and a realistic representation of the world, but I think X-Plane has a better flight model, IMO. Also, if by "newest" you mean Prepar3D (P3D), I would advise Paul against using that version because of the various licensing restrictions inherent with the simulator now being developed by Lockheed Martin. Squirrel produces his TH-cam channel for entertainment, so technically P3D can NOT be used for this purpose (even though there are P3D videos on YT). This is because of how the different licenses restrict P3D use. He probably would not get dinged, but with TH-cam's copyright right bots in full swing at the moment, he would be better off using FSX since it's classified as a game and allowed on TH-cam along with the thousands of other games by major publishers.
Nice one Paul. Totally agree about flight sims. Apart from t/o and landing, there's just flying around in featureless sky with some clouds (maybe). They need to make one with bad weather scenarios. I might get one anyway to see if I can make it interesting - the Brute Force way.....lol
Excellent video. You don't use the names of the two famous bridges. The bridge just to the south of Dundee is the Tay Bridge. The stubs of columns to the left is what remains of the first Tay Bridge, which fell down in the Tay Bridge Disaster. The second, massive triple cantilever bridge, is the Forth Bridge.
Great video. Loved the scenery. There needs to be a game / sim created that allows free roam of the real world. Where you can drive anywhere, take any train, plane or bus. Now that would be awesome!
FYI Jingles from what i learned playing the game about AWS correct me if im wrong but i believe: Light ping and the alert light doesn't come on = Green Signal Short Alarm With alert light = Amber Signal Urgent alarm with alert light = red signal Hope this helps so you dont screw up lke you did with the red light after the firth bridge :)
I stay in Kirkcaldy and when and bought this as soon as I saw you playing it and it is a really good represent ion of the route I would really like to see the fife loop being incorporated great video Paul keep them coming
That stunning bridge you went over was the famous "Forth Bridge". On the Firth of Forth (Forth Estury), there are 3 brdges, "The Forth Bridge" is the rail one, "The Forth Road Bridge" was the suspension bridge you saw beside it, and the new one, due for service Winter 2017/Spring 2018, is "The Queensferry Crossing"
Fantastic three video's Paul loved every mile of it. a very happy new year to you and your family. ps we finally found a good use for Renault trucks......melt them down and make stunning bridges like that one lol.
In fact if you fly in FSX you can have a lot of nice scenery - you can play as a Cessna and visit Mount Rushmore, visit Las Vegas, make a helicopterflight over New York and there are a lot of mods.
Hi Paul, you should totally play London Underground Simulator. It is a greatly detailed, high quality simulation of the London Underground Circle Line. It is a fun challenge.
Loving the train simulator gameplay so far btw! If you were to do a Flight Simulator video you could do one of the missions provided or have a planned flight but set random failures to start occuring so far into your flight to add a bit of interest
i haven't seen sheep or a shepherd yet and i would expect to see, but maybe that's more in Scotland. that would be cool to see more animals and people though - but i have to admit that bridge was very impressive.
You looking at wrong game then. Take on Helicopters has great scenery (because you are flying low and seeing everything), im sure you should check it out, its not so dull as you would think it is. Really enjoying that game :)
Nice video as usual, just a little pointer, remember to blow your horn before entering and exiting tunnels oh and be prepared to stop after a yellow signal lol, the train at Haymarket is an HST,not a Voyager, i agree the spawning and despawning is so annoying.
For flight Sims, there are payware or Freeware airplanes that need you to do some things for each part of a flight. Also there are Multiplayer communities like IVAO and Vatsim, you can fly with ATC and other people, with ATC you always have ot listen to know if they tell you to do something :)
Yes, the Forth Bridge looks fantastic, but if they're doing the Scottish ECML they would spend some time on one of the most iconic landmarks in Britain.
You keep looking for the 6 or 3car etc...on your bottom map, there is a RED ARROW that shows you where the locomotive should stop...same place where the 6 or 3 marker was. Haven't you noticed it?
this will help out a lot when it comes to braking distance. Green signal the speed limit two yellow (advance approach) 45MPH MAX or speed limit if less one yellow (approach) 15MPH max or speed limit if lees red signal (restricting) speed that will allow you to stop half the distance of what you can see, if it's a home signal then stop at the signal.
if you watch the 1959 version of the 39 steps there is a scene where the train stops on the bridge and at the previous scene at edinburgh you hear a train announcement for the train the building in princes street gardens is where live bands appear at the new year
Yes that's true on what your saying for normal flight sim, I think you should stick to ETS and TS because to do normal flight sim realistically, you need to pay n download extra planes eg PMDG 777....download softwares such as PFPX and Topcat which makes everythn more complicated. So when people on youtube does flight sims, they never reli do anythn else because it is quite complicated and time consuming
as I used to live in inverkeithing and to be honest this is done vaguely from a map as there are a number of bends before haymarket and haymarket is far more complicated than shown.
Hi there Squirrel and greetings from Germany! I just wanted to say thumbs up for your Videos! I really enjoy your ETS and Trainsim Videos (Oh and Bridge Project - these were absolutely hilarious). As you mention Flight Simulator... I'd like to see more FS Videos as I'm a virtual Pilot too (I'm actually within the Management of one of the biggest Virtual Airlines) but as you say despite Takeoff and Landing a Passenger Flight is not very great for a Let's Play that's also why most of the Flightsimmers (including me) cut down the Videos of their Flights to short Films. Needless to say you really have to be into the Deal when doing a Flightsim so maybe that's not the right Thing (The more realistic Planes require studying many Pages of Manual to even get them started or programming the Flight Computers for correct Routing) so just keep your Trainsim and ETS Videos coming for our Pleasure!
the reason the bridge was so detailed is because it is a land mark the bridge is called the fourth rail way bridge is see it alot when going across the bridge next to it which is called the the fourth road bridge
Squirrel - When there is a yellow signal you are to go at a speed where you can easily stop for a red signal. i.e 15 to 20 MPH MAX! regardless of the speed limit. I am surprised that it did not end the scenario on you after passing a red signal just as much as you were. But for future reference, please pay attention to signals in the future to prevent a fail scenario due to running a red signal.
I dont mean this in a negative way at all, but it has been 6 months since a dayz video. I'm sorry if I missed some announcement where he explains that he is done with those videos or something, but when I subbed to you, it was because of a phenomenal dayz video and I was anxious for more :D I just hope they make a re-entry!!
Hi really enjoyed this upload, can you do one covering the Alrams and what they are for and what you need to do to reset them? reason is i get one but dont know what its for, looked on TH-cam for uploads about them but nothing there. Thanks in advance :-)
Hi Squirrel, i'm a new subscriber, love the channel! Can you tell me where you got the Voyager VT221 and this route from? It looks great! All the best :)
Quite impressed with some of the detail in this route. Funnily enough, even those caravans just after Dalmeny station are actually there in real life. I pass them every day on my way to work

Yeah but it's still wierd
I cannot believe you didn't know that was the iconic forth rail bridge. Concord did land in Edinburgh and I think there may even be a concord in one of the Scottish museums. I thought the concord was a nice little extra bit of detail.
That bridge crossing was amazing, epic stuff.
Waverley was pretty accurate. that little green bridge you went under just before the station is where I used to stand with my grandparents as a kid, watching all the trains going by. Pretty cool.
That other train at haymarket was not a voyager, it was an intercity HST (high speed train) 125 (125 stands for 125mph). Just a little info.
Always love a little come back to these videos been on that line many times travelling up to work from Falkirk
The scenario was beautiful. I love the bridge as much as you did and that was just brilliant. Thank you for playing a game that I like and that some others like. Have a wonderful day.
This is amazing I love your senarios and you should do Dundee to Penzance or Penzance to Dundee
Lol at 2:12 when he's saying "such a peaceful route" as there is horrible wheel screeching in the back hahah
Awesome scenery and great commentating by you Paul.
Great work!
Stunning scenery at the Forth Rail Bridge. 👍
That large bridge you crossed was the Forth Rail bridge and is amazing going over it in real life.
Very good video! I've been to Edinburgh before. I flew to Glasgow, and took the train over to Waverly, back in 2012.
Squirrel I'm an avid light sim player and pilot in real life, and I would recommend getting FSX, the newest version, and doing a short flight from say London to Paris. If you download the right plane, the flight model is close to that of real life.
Fantastic production! Train Simulator is what brought me to you videos. Great job with all.
i have been to Edinburgh from Newcastle on the train twice now, i love the journey :D
Good on Squirrel. Watched this with my octogenarian mother while she followed it on google maps. She enjoyed it very much.
Nice one Paul. Totally agree about flight sims. Apart from t/o and landing, there's just flying around in featureless sky with some clouds (maybe). They need to make one with bad weather scenarios. I might get one anyway to see if I can make it interesting - the Brute Force way.....lol
Concorde did land at Edinburgh and Kirkcaldy is a town. :P
Yes but concord went out of service in 2003
@@grahamwatson867 And the scenario is based around 2003
before 301 , is a real subscriber
Excellent video.
You don't use the names of the two famous bridges. The bridge just to the south of Dundee is the Tay Bridge. The stubs of columns to the left is what remains of the first Tay Bridge, which fell down in the Tay Bridge Disaster. The second, massive triple cantilever bridge, is the Forth Bridge.
At 26:06...
That's a HST, not a Voyager. Still a great video and I really like the way do your commentary. It's just so relaxing.
Great video. Loved the scenery. There needs to be a game / sim created that allows free roam of the real world. Where you can drive anywhere, take any train, plane or bus. Now that would be awesome!
Never been a fan of train simulation recently however watched your whole video and really loved it! Going to buy this =)
FYI Jingles from what i learned playing the game about AWS correct me if im wrong but i believe:
Light ping and the alert light doesn't come on = Green Signal
Short Alarm With alert light = Amber Signal
Urgent alarm with alert light = red signal
Hope this helps so you dont screw up lke you did with the red light after the firth bridge :)
You could do a Q&A video whilst doing flight simulator
I stay in Kirkcaldy and when and bought this as soon as I saw you playing it and it is a really good represent ion of the route I would really like to see the fife loop being incorporated great video Paul keep them coming
That stunning bridge you went over was the famous "Forth Bridge". RealJustinCrow haven't they postponed it till April or may ?
yeah, April /May 2017, its actually ahead of schedule. The Fourth weather has been kind to them
26:26
You said he was heading the other way in his Voyager when actually it was a HST (High Speed Train)
Fantastic three video's Paul loved every mile of it.
a very happy new year to you and your family.
ps
we finally found a good use for Renault trucks......melt them down and make stunning bridges like that one lol.
In fact if you fly in FSX you can have a lot of nice scenery - you can play as a Cessna and visit Mount Rushmore, visit Las Vegas, make a helicopterflight over New York and there are a lot of mods.
I travel that line on a semi-regular basis, and Waverly Station has got great detail.
Spectacular journey and great video!
That bridge at 13:49 was awesome
16:25 Top Gear on caravanning XD
What are buses in old Strathtay livery doing sitting in Inverkeithing? :)
I recommend doing London to Faversham Class 375, 395, 37 direct rail, or class 466 love the video (as always)
Paul when you passed that train at Haymarket that train wasn't a voyager it was a class 43 HST :)
Hi Paul, you should totally play London Underground Simulator. It is a greatly detailed, high quality simulation of the London Underground Circle Line. It is a fun challenge.
This is one of your most successful train video
Loving the train simulator gameplay so far btw! If you were to do a Flight Simulator video you could do one of the missions provided or have a planned flight but set random failures to start occuring so far into your flight to add a bit of interest
that big red bridge, is the FORTH RAIL BRIDGE, which has north queensferry on the north side and Dalmany station on the south side.
As ever dude loving your work...
i haven't seen sheep or a shepherd yet and i would expect to see, but maybe that's more in Scotland. that would be cool to see more animals and people though - but i have to admit that bridge was very impressive.
I'm excited for the 2nd leg!
I think I hear you acknowledge the AWS even when the signal is green (short bell sound): you do not need to do that for green signals.
Great video as always I have just brought this train. please keep up the good work:)
With flight sims, it is interesting when something needs to be done:
Plane Checklists (most of them)
Landing
takeoff
nearly everything in the airport.
Great vid as usual squirrel keep up the good work more train sim please
26:20 it's not a Voyager, it's an HST.
nice video paul again your brill at this
For flight Sims, there are payware or Freeware airplanes that need you to do some things for each part of a flight. Also there are Multiplayer communities like IVAO and Vatsim, you can fly with ATC and other people, with ATC you always have ot listen to know if they tell you to do something :)
The one bridge looks like the one on your bridge projects vids:)
The intercity 125 is also a class 43, but that was a really nice scenario and vid though!
I love this TS videos.
the cathedral in Kirkcaldy is a townhall not a cathedral. lol. the stadium at 24:05 is Murreyfield stadium for Scotland Rugby Team in Edinburgh.
12:13 And I see both of those bridges from my bedroom window everyday
Yes, the Forth Bridge looks fantastic, but if they're doing the Scottish ECML they would spend some time on one of the most iconic landmarks in Britain.
wow am from Kirkcaldy and its looks great
thanks for the video
The Voyager loves building power, but hates knocking it down.
btw ther is a very small red arrow on the mini map thing that shows you where to stop so you don't always have to look out for the stop sign
You keep looking for the 6 or 3car etc...on your bottom map, there is a RED ARROW that shows you where the locomotive should stop...same place where the 6 or 3 marker was. Haven't you noticed it?
That bridge is the Fourth Rail Bridge and the bridge next to it is the fourth road bridge that both go over the fourth river
Your vids are brill. Thanks
go on quick drive and if you have the line from aberdeen to penzance get the voyager it is amazing
this will help out a lot when it comes to braking distance.
Green signal the speed limit
two yellow (advance approach) 45MPH MAX or speed limit if less
one yellow (approach) 15MPH max or speed limit if lees
red signal (restricting) speed that will allow you to stop half the distance of what you can see, if it's a home signal then stop at the signal.
the stage at 30:06 is the ross bandstand its a outdoor stage area in princess street gardens.
if you watch the 1959 version of the 39 steps there is a scene where the train stops on the bridge and at the previous scene at edinburgh you hear a train announcement for the train
the building in princes street gardens is where live bands appear at the new year
squirrel, that red arrow shows you where to stop :D
Does not have to do with Train Sim, but for Euro Truck there is a Multiplayer mod that has just started! (only on Pre-Alpha)
13:00at least they got one of the Oldest bridges done right.
The massive bridge is the Forth Rail Bridge alongside the Road Bridge
Squirrel. You can use sand to make it stop faster
Can you do more scenarios with the GP7 Pennsy? I really liked that locomotive.
Yes that's true on what your saying for normal flight sim, I think you should stick to ETS and TS because to do normal flight sim realistically, you need to pay n download extra planes eg PMDG 777....download softwares such as PFPX and Topcat which makes everythn more complicated. You can see the Forth Rail Bridge from Euro Truck and the road bridge from TS2014
as I used to live in inverkeithing and to be honest this is done vaguely from a map as there are a number of bends before haymarket and haymarket is far more complicated than shown.

Do you know you could of used the emergency brake as well as using the normal brake at any percentage to stop the train quickly?
the reason the bridge was so detailed is because it is a land mark the bridge is called the fourth rail way bridge is see it alot when going across the bridge next to it which is called the the fourth road bridge
That airport that u passed was Edinburgh airport and years ago Concorde did land there.
BNSF ES44DC would be great to see
You should get the Isle of Wight DLC and play some scenarios using the little steam train called "Invincible". It look really cool.
I say that because I have watched a lot of Line Learners and signaling videos for British Railways and I am basing what I said off those videos.
The whistle on this thing seems more like an air leak than the reverberation of a regular horn.
It look amazing but Virgin trains should be arriving on the far right platform not the left one. (At Waverly)
Great Video!
You should try out an American route! I would say The Northeast Corridor using the Acela.
Is there the Eastcoast line from Kings Cross to Waverley? That would be nice to watch
good video more train simulator videos
this had probably been asked a million times but....what is your pc set up from start to finish to run these simulators
All the best :)
it is just trains
