@@jevonkasitch9991 Good list. (Tho it's hard to create a Chappell list that isn't.) I always urge people to watch her Fallon appearance in chron. order, the 8 min. Thanks again for that link a couple of days ago to her early 2023 live studio official performance of Kaleidoscope. I've warched it 10X already and for certain will many more times. If you know the RL backstory behind Kaleidoscope (and her emotional state at that time), it hits even harder. Picture You slayed this reactor so hard, imagine if the poor guy had gotten the full one-two gut punch of Picture You followed by Kaleidoscope 😂
Chappell Roan actually IS kind of a character in the way you described!! It's her stage persona, she takes a lot of inspiration from drag queens so she always has strong looks and 'acts' on stage
She performed it on Jimmy Fallon as well which was great, BUT you should watch her interview with him. Not only does it give context to the introduction on the VMAs but also it’s just hilarious!

Chappell Roan is performance art. Everything she does is intentional, including choosing to perform under the name Chappell Roan. She’s pretty much what happens when you toss Cindi Lauper, Lady Gaga and RuPaul into a witch’s cauldron with some cheap wine, and cigarettes.
Worst reaction??? Nooo!!! Most REAL reaction! I often catch myself just getting put into some sort of trance whenever I watch Chappell. I embrace it, and love to see how similar our reactions are!! Love the vids, dude!
I suggest Chappell’s performance of Good Luck, Babe on Jimmy Fallon next. Just unbelievable. You won’t have to look far to get tons of information on Chappell. I won’t gaysplain her but I have a daughter who also has bipolar disorder, so that I can speak to. The fact that Chappell can cope with suddenly blowing up everywhere is remarkable. And the fact she’s holding on for dear life as she tries to adjust to it, and voicing what she’s going through, reminds me so much of my own daughter’s self awareness and fearlessness in speaking her truth. I have tremendous respect for her and hope she’s able to ride it out while keeping a firm hold on her identity and ensuring she can meet her needs.
I've seen so many parents talk about Chappell in relation to their kids and raising/listening to their kids. It's pretty interesting to me. Like... there's a lot of parental energy of older fans with her😅
please please more Chappell Roan!!! I discovered her early this year and was also immediately obsessed and completely drawn in. She is an incredible songwriter, performer, vocalist, everything truly. You HAVE to react to Good Luck, Babe! next (her Jimmy Fallon live performance is my favorite-the VMAs one is great too but i like the Fallon one a bit more I think) and there are so many other performances for you to dive into. Honestly her whole debut album The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess is incredible, I highly recommend it. If you do music videos definitely do My Kink Is Karma, Casual, and Pink Pony Club. No one is doing clever, campy, fun yet heartfelt pop like she is at the moment in my opinion. so happy to see that you enjoyed!!!
I agree and second all of this. Specifically in the order listed in the comment, except I'd add the video for Red Wine Supernova after reacting to My Kink is Karma.
She is magical. And yes, I’m obsessed with her as well. I’ve been waiting for the music industry to get their shit together. We lost a decade (possibly more). I’m so grateful she will offer what talent truly stands for in this next generation. God, they desperately need her!
OMG yes!!! Chappell Roan is amazing, I love her so much and am so proud of her. She is very inspired by drag artists and queer culture (she is lesbian), so all the outfits and makeup are very intentional
Chappel took 10 years to become an overnight success. She's labored as a regional star forever. She started getting serious attention at this years Coachella festival in April and started exploding at this years Lollapalooza. She attracted larger crowds of (110,000) people than her stage could handle so they moved her to the main stage and still couldn't handle the crowd. Though not anofficial hedliner, she gave a headliner worthy performance. She was named best new artist and performed at the 2024 VMA's on 9/11! She's known as "Your favorite artist's favorite artist". She's amazing isn't she? USA Today said; Chappell Roan may have made history at Lollapalooza with 'biggest set of all time' Chappell Roan doesn't need the luck. She's a bona fide “Femininomenon.” The rising popstar (real name: Kayleigh Rose Amstutz) received an enthusiastic reception when she played at the Lollapalooza festival in Chicago on Thursday.
I just seen her live in Glasgow on Sunday night and it has to be one of the best shows I’ve ever been to. And I know a tiny concert with her and a crowd of 2.5k people will never happen like that again after this tour, next time she comes back here it’ll be a sold out arena. ❤
Same same same - I saw her in London on Saturday in a similarly small venue and felt like history was being made. Feeling grateful as she'll probably never be in such a small place ever again.
This is crazy. I was just listening to Chappell on spotify and thought "I wonder if Luke has heard her yet?" Open up youtube and this is the first thing I see...and posted only 4hrs ago 😂 💜 Edit to add: I've seen some orhers post it too but I want to recommend reacting to the VMA preformance of "Good Luck, Babe!" for the next one!

Yes, most of the things on the set were donated by acts that did tiny desk performances. In later tiny desk videos you can see Chappell's wig & tiara on a skull, on the top shelf between where the drummer and bass player are here.
In this performance Chappell gives me “sad clown” vibes when she does Casual and Picture You and California. With the way her face is painted and her facial expressions. Not like dumb birthday clowns but those high art clowns like the ones in Cirque du Soleil.
I heard Chappell's hometown called gays clowns so she's partially playing into that on purpose to reclaim the insult. Which if my kink is karma didn't fix that I don't know what could.
JUST IN TIME as always Luke ❤ I've been wanting to check her out for a few weeks now and haven't gotten around to it. The first song's lyrics were so relatable while also being specific... gives me Taylor's songwriting skills.
The Tiny Desk concert was the thing that made me a fan--she draws you in like a magnet within the first 15 seconds and just doesn't let go!! It's one of the most jaw-dropping single performances of the past decade.
You need to react to her live performance of Good luck babe, on the Tonight show AND Sabrina Carpenter’s cover of it live on the Live Lounge! They are both exceptional!
It would mean so much to me for you to continue down the Chappell Roan pipeline. She is so near and dear to my heart. Even if you don't do it with us, please please just listen to more.
I wonder how many of the lyrics will go over his head. Edit: Ok to be fair he was too shocked by the performance that he didn't really hear any of the lyrics lol. Still a great video.
@@TheGoldenAlchemist86 I remember watching a first time reaction to one of her songs when one of the innuendos finally clicked and the persons expression was priceless.
@@TheGoldenAlchemist86 Normally I am crying right along with Luke but for Picture You I was giggling a bit. I can't wait for him to learn the meaning lol. Still a beautiful song nonetheless.
Omg I’m so excited for this rabbit hole with you! I came for Taylor initially, but I also love Chappell! You’re going to be obsessed with her live performances at like Coachella and whatnot. For a little background about her story. She’s from the Midwest in the states (she’s from Missouri which I consider the south - I’m from Arkansas which is right below Missouri and we’re about as southern as it gets lol) . She’s an “overnight success” that took 10 years in the making. She had a label, moved to cali, got dropped from the label, moved back to Missouri and kept singing until she made it big seemingly overnight. She’s also queer. A lot of her songs are about her life story and her journey into discovering herself and dealing with complexities about sexuality living in places that don’t accept queer people, etc. she’s amazing! I’m excited to see your future reactions to her!!!
💜so happy u are reacting to Chappell Roan. Not surprised u are having the reaction that u are. My fella fell in love w/ her & introduced me to her just as she was getting big. Her singing voice/ attitude reminds me of a mix of Courtney Love & Dolly Parton.
Love, love, LOVE Chappell Roan! She won best new artist at the VMA’s and her performance there was sooo good! Check it out! Her entire album, The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess, is so goodevery song individually good, very fun and no skips! Happy listening ❤🎶🎉
You should react to her Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon interview and performance of Good Luck Babe! Its fantastic and she’s funny and unfiltered in that!
I never clicked on a video so fast!!!!! Chappell is so so talented, I'm so happy you checked her out! I really love Chappell's vibe, she's so refreshing! I hope you check out more of her stuff ♡ perhaps the video versions of some of these, the arrangements are so different!
This was exactly my reaction upon first seeing this. I saw her cover of Elton John's Your Song and then came over to watch this tiny desk. It's so mind-blowing to come upon someone like this who's just burst upon the scene. I would put her beyond generational talent and immediately up into the rarefied air of people like Freddie Mercury and David Bowie. And that's even before looking at the aesthetics of her approach. Just musically I would put her up there. Add in the performance and the incredible look... She is astonishing.
The Tiny Desk arrangement is beautiful, but the album is an absolute masterpiece. The best way to listen is beginning to end, it's stunning. Then after that listen to the VMAs Good Luck Babe.
Yay!!🎉🎉🎉 You made me smile so huge on a really hard day. Love Chappell and so glad you discovered. I think I was one of the people that recommended, no you gotta see her Jimmy Fallon!!
When musicians love the music they will connect immediately. They all know they are in a special and unique experience. And they will jump into it with all their hearts.
Now we need a full album review of her only full album out, The Rise And Fall of a Midwest Princess! It's for you, really. So you can listen to the album again and again and again like the rest of us!
I’ve listened to literally every reaction and yours is in my top 3 for sure. Fantastic reaction to such an amazing artist. I really hope you listen to her album “The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess” and her latest single “Good Luck, Babe”, including other live performances (especially for “Good Luck, Babe”). She is my newest favorite artist, I love her.
Would love more Chappell! I'd recommend her interview and performance on Jimmy Fallon to see more of her personality and for her single Good Luck, Babe. All of her music videos are also really fun!
I LOVED your reaction! Chappell is a one-of-a-kind super talent from my home state (Missouri), and I get a kick out of watching people like you discover and appreciate her. Thank you for doing this, and keep going! She's the real deal. ❤
Your face said it all, nothing more needed. I think many of us reacted similarly hearing her for the first time. That voice is stunning and pulls you in for a trip down memory lane.
Soo glad you are reacting to Chappell now!! ❤ She has a bunch of music videos from her album “Rise and Fall of Midwest Princess” including Casual, Pink Pony Club, Hot to Go, Good Luck, Babe (not part of the album) and more. She was also on Jimmy Fallon with an interview and performance of Good Luck Babe. Then most recently she performed at the VMAs which was her first awards performance and where she won Best New Artist. I think it’s important to know that she has been performing since she was young, like 16, and was dropped by Atlantic bc her first debut album didn’t do that well. She eventually got with an independent label after moving back home from California. Her new album got big real fast and now she is hugely popular. She writes all her music just like Taylor. She identifies as queer or lesbian now, but you’ll notice some of her songs are about men from when she dated men. She has a huge LGBTQA fan base.
The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess (2023) is her only album. Before it she's only released an EP, School Nights. 2018? She changed musical directions radically starting in 2019-2020. Pink Pony Club was written 5 1/2 years ago, Feb 2019, but her label battled her on it and didn't release it until Spring 2020. She did record an entire album with Atlantic, but neither she nor the label liked it and they agree it won't be released. So Midwest Princess, a masterpiece, is her debut album.
Yes! You caught that there was an intentional aesthetic right away. The most important words to keep in mind with her look are "drag" and "camp". Yes the smeared mascara and the lipstick on her teeth are intentional.
Your reaction was perfect. Her performance is captivating, and this version of "Red Wine Supernova" is simply superior. I wanted her to do her whole album like this. And just to blow your mind even more, This is before she blew up or had any hope of making it in as a musician, and hadn't even gotten vocal lessons.
I’ve never seen any of your videos before, but I loved this reaction. When I first saw this Tiny Desk concert, I had never felt more entranced and enchanted by a musician so immediately than in this performance. Watching your reaction was cathartic to me because you were awestruck like I was, and I get it!
I’m SO EXCITED! Found you as a Swiftie and I’m obsessed with Chappell (pronounced like Chapel the religious building) - so I can’t wait to watch you go down this rabbit hole!
Nice! Chappell is her grandpa's last name, but she pronounces it like a church "Chapel" for her stage name. Roan is for "Strawberry Roan", the grandpa's favorite poem/song. She pronounces it RONE. Cheers :) oh ps- she's a woman who identifies as a woman, so it's still "she/her".
So happy that you're reacting to Chappell. You're one of my favorite reactor and this is one of my favorite videos of my favorite new artist. It almost feel like it's my birthday.
We knew you would love her voice!! 🤩 Your reaction was perfect - we can see your eyes sparkling. The authentic subtle reactions are the best - thank you ❤
Omg I love Chappell, she's amazing!! Another singer that I would like to recommend for you to react to is ALexia Evellyn, she's a very talented brazilian singer. Check out her music video "Hold On" and the performance of "Varanda" on the music show Singer 2024
Love Chappell! She's from Missouri, same area as me! Its interesting, the accent thing seems really hit or miss here, some people have really thick ones and other people have really mild ones. :) Her's is quite nice. (Also, the singer is Chappell. I think her supporting artists vary based on the performance. The strings in this performance is more subdued than a lot of her things due to the Tiny Desk format. )
It was an honor getting to see you fall in love with Chappell, she’s truly the queer icon we needed right now. Her energy is just so wonderful and infectious and mesmerizing. I hope you check out more! The whole “Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess” album is wonderful beginning to end
I loved watching you discover Chappel Roan in this video! I was only recently introduced to her by my daughter, and love her work. What a talent! Her VMA live performance last week was fantastic!
I think I found Chappell's music like 2 months ago and I'm so obsessed with her music. I love how she's unafraid to be herself. Her vibes are so infectious!

It would mean so much to me for you to continue down the Chappell Roan pipeline. She is so near and dear to my heart. Even if you don't do it with us, please please just listen to more.
You would loveeee her music video for Casual. I think it will hit you in the feels in a way you don’t expect. Honestly same with Pink Pony Club
I wonder how many of the lyrics will go over his head.
Edit: Ok to be fair he was too shocked by the performance that he didn't really hear any of the lyrics lol. Still a great video.
I started cackling during Picture You because the lyrics were not clicking at ALL😂😂😂
@@TheGoldenAlchemist86 I remember watching a first time reaction to one of her songs when one of the innuendos finally clicked and the persons expression was priceless.
@@TheGoldenAlchemist86 Normally I am crying right along with Luke but for Picture You I was giggling a bit. I can't wait for him to learn the meaning lol.
Still a beautiful song nonetheless.
When people miss the reference to "a wand and a rabbit" , I'm always amused.
OMG OMG OMG YAAASSSS more Chapel reactions please!!!
Happy listening ❤🎶🎉
she’s taking over pop music! I’m so excited for this journey
You said you don't mean that she's playing a character, but she kinda is! Chappell is definitely her artist persona!!
You should react to her Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon interview and performance of Good Luck Babe! Its fantastic and she’s funny and unfiltered in that!
oh, what a treat! I didn't know you were going to do this! I'm so glad you are enjoying it, she's awesome!
I never clicked on a video so fast!!!!! Chappell is so so talented, I'm so happy you checked her out! I really love Chappell's vibe, she's so refreshing! I hope you check out more of her stuff ♡ perhaps the video versions of some of these, the arrangements are so different!
FINALLY OMG! I LOVE CHAPPELL AND I WAS WAITING FOR THIS YAY!
You've gotta listen to her song Good Luck Babe, it's her latest single!
The Tiny Desk arrangement is beautiful, but the album is an absolute masterpiece. The best way to listen is beginning to end, it's stunning.
Then after that listen to the VMAs Good Luck Babe.
And the Jimmy Fallon version (which I adored)
This performance alone changed her entire career. She got so much exposure on social media from this. It's so so good.
Yay!!🎉🎉🎉 You made me smile so huge on a really hard day. Love Chappell and so glad you discovered. I think I was one of the people that recommended, no you gotta see her Jimmy Fallon!!
Please do more Chappell! Put my vote down for any music video of hers
So glad you listened to her!!!! LOVE HER SO MUCH!!!!
Don’t apologize, being speechless is a great reaction ❤😊
Also react to “Good Luck, Babe” if you can please. It’s amazing to see your eyes and face light up as you progressed through her performance 😊
She’s amazing!!! So glad you came to Chappell!
So happy to see you react to my favorite artist! Also I actually love your raw reactions!
Pls watch one of her performances of "good luck babe" on Jimmy fallon or the VMAs
Yay!!!! Love love loveeeee her. Took me a bit to get into her but a few months ago I got into her live performances and fell in love
Love Chappell Roan! Her music videos are so good as well
This is one of my favorite reactions actually lol. It’s like sitting with a friend just enjoying and soaking in the awesomeness of the music.
Yes! You caught that there was an intentional aesthetic right away. The most important words to keep in mind with her look are "drag" and "camp". Yes the smeared mascara and the lipstick on her teeth are intentional.
Looooove Chappell. She’s incredible!
One of my favorite reactions! So genuine and honest. No apologies needed. Look forward to your reaction to her album. Please share it with us soon 🙏
I had the same reaction as you the tears just kept coming the control of her voice is out of this world
I’m SO EXCITED! Found you as a Swiftie and I’m obsessed with Chappell (pronounced like Chapel the religious building) - so I can’t wait to watch you go down this rabbit hole!
One of the best reactions I've seen. I love re-living discovering her through your eyes. Thank you. You captured the pure amazement so well.
She definitely brings the tears. 😭 I can't articulate how much she means to thousands, probably millions of people. She is truly special 👯♀️❤️
My daughter saw her at Outside lands in San Francisco and introduced her to her old mama and I loved her voice. She is so talented!
We knew you would love her voice!! 🤩 Your reaction was perfect - we can see your eyes sparkling. The authentic subtle reactions are the best - thank you ❤
Yes Chappell I’ve been waiting for thissss ❤❤
Omg I love Chappell, she's amazing!!
Another singer that I would like to recommend for you to react to is ALexia Evellyn, she's a very talented brazilian singer. Check out her music video "Hold On" and the performance of "Varanda" on the music show Singer 2024
I LOVED your reaction! I feel it’s the proper Chappell roan reaction haha she stuns us all ✨✨✨
Love Chappell! She's from Missouri, same area as me! Its interesting, the accent thing seems really hit or miss here, some people have really thick ones and other people have really mild ones. :) Her's is quite nice. (Also, the singer is Chappell. I think her supporting artists vary based on the performance. The strings in this performance is more subdued than a lot of her things due to the Tiny Desk format. )
SHE IS SIMPLY PERFECT AND WILL LEAVE MOST EVERYONE SPEECHLESS!💕💫
I fell in love with her definitely when I watched this Tiny Desk. So deep, so beautiful 💜
I really enjoyed reacting to Chappel with you Luke, thank you for being my internet friend ❤
